View Full Version : thinking bout a gun

Been wanting one for awhile but ain't really looked into it much. I've shot quite a few different types and don't really have a preferance.
I just want it for home defense living around some shady ppl an on the outskirts of the projects an ghettoish areas. Keep in mind I live in an apartment building so obviously I don't need a .357 or some crazy powerful shit that'll kill my neighbors through the wall.
debating between a short barrely shotgun prolly 20 gauge or 9mm handgun.
any opinions or suggestions?

Whatever you choose, I would advise getting NRA certified. Take the classes. Learn proper gun safety, stances, how to hold and maintain your weapon, etc. Don't purchase a handgun or shotgun that you are uncomfortable with. I don't know what conceal and carry laws Kentucky has but if it's an option I recommend going through with it.

budsgunshop.com (based out of Kentucky, one of the best places online to purchase guns and ammo)
cheaperthandirt.com (another great site but I recommend Buds Gun Shop)

Hell yeah thanks man. An KY has an open carry law so I don't gotta have a permit as long as its not concealed. rifles don't need any type of licence either so that helps. I been through training a few years ago so I know what I'm doing, plus a good friend of mine is in the seals an half my family is or was a marine lol I just gotta bad shoulder from playing baseball an tearing my rotator cup (or whatever its called) so I can't use the 12 gauges an real powerful shit without risking it tearing more or dislocation.

Solid list, I'd just change the name cause"First" Response is what they call Paramedics and EMT workers or some thing.

And maybe take AR off the list as they are somewhat sketchy in regards to reliability. I know they are popular but it's mainly cause people like adding Call of Duty unlocks to them.

How do you feel about the Toddler Launcher tho?

i would never consider getting a 9mm. that's the exact gun that won't go thru walls and kill your neighbors. i also would not consider a short barreled shotgun, the shorter the barrel the less distance you can get from it, granted, most gunfights happen within 20 feet.

i'd recommend a revolver with the caliber being in the 30's or 40's, that's stopping power. a 9mm is like having a bunch of roman candles, you could empty an entire magazine into someone and they wouldn't fall down until you had about 3 bullets left (speaking on the beretta of course)

Fair dad. This Beretta is for close quarters and is flawless. It is secondary. The Kimberly 45 is primary.

This....even pistols. They are not accurate. Especially try moving and shooting at the same time....good luck

The longer the barrel the more accurate at a distance it'll be. You know that
