The Cook, the Thief, his Wife & Her Lover

So the basic premise of this one is that the wife of an absolutely obnoxious restaurant owner starts having an affair with a quiet bookworm in between meals at her husbands restaurant. Doesn't sound too bad, does it?! And really, it isn't....

I'll add here that I probably saw more of Helen Mirren in this film than I ever thought I would see! The film is great, well shot and acted by all involved, and has definite replay value. It's evidently an intellectual film with a lot of layers to it that you perhaps won't find on first watch, I didn't at least, but regardless this is still a thoroughly good movie.

There wasn't a lot that 'shocked' or that I found very disturbing, despite it's end (which I won't reveal for the benefit of anyone wanting to see it) and for that reason alone I don't have it rated so highly on my personal list of disturbing cinema, but if I had to recommend a film to you guys that I thought was accessible to the majority - this would be it.

It's extremely well put together with some great actors involved, names I didn't expect to see in many movies on my most disturbing lists if I'm honest - but they do a brilliant job.

This is actually a great film, without saying too much, watch for the characters costumes changing colour... This one may not rank amongst the most disturbing out there IMO, but it's a hidden gem well worth digging up!

There really isn't a whole lot to this one I didn't cover, in truth...

I saw way more of Helen Mirren's hairy vag and tits than I imagined I ever would. At least it was one of her younger roles, I guess?

The bookworm she has the affair with is eventually caught by the husband, and the bookworms mouth is stuffed with the pages of the book until he suffocates and dies.

Eventually, the wife convinces the chef to cook the bookworm/lovers body... and her husband is made to sit infront of everyone he had annoyed throughout the movie, held at gunpoint, and made to eat the cooked body of the bookworm/lover... starting with the penis.

That's it, the end of the film!

It's more disgusting in concept than execution I guess. It's not really gory or necessarily disturbing to me. You don't 'see' much compared to other movies on my list is maybe my point. The idea is odd, and maybe the film shows it's age slightly, but this is neither completely disgusting nor unwatchable - infact, this one in particular has a lot of replay value IMO and I'll def be revisiting it at some point due to the subtle layers throughout the film I've since found out about afterward (almost like you would with Fight Club or a film in that ilk)

Worth the watch!

So I figured fuck it, may as well contain my sole interest to one thread rather than posting multiple ones up with no replies, right?

I'm gonna drop them all in here and update this single thread with my reviews etc/answer questions/update and compile an ongoing list of where I rate the movies as I go along.

Megan Is Missing

This one is a cautionary tale about internet usage and how you never really know who you could be talking to... We follow two teenage girls, Megan the more outgoing, popular and sexually active - her friend, Amy, the quieter, virgin, unpopular type. Megan gets talking to a guy via a chatroom. He says his webcam is broke etc but in her naivety she doesn't see anything untoward. There are a few instances he has opportunity to meet with her and doesn't show up, explaining himself away, despite at one point being at a party she was also at and being able to describe everything she was wearing. She puts it down to him being extremely shy. If that doesn't cause alarm bells to start ringing I guess nothing will. But again, she's just a kid, I guess it may not have clicked.

They eventually agree to meet at the rear of a premises, where we're shown she's grabbed by the hand by a male and led away. The next day no one knows where she is. Amy (her best friend) grows weary as they usually speak everyday and eventually a news report explains Megan is missing.

Amy is still in contact with the mysterious screen name her friend had been talking to prior to this. One day Amy is recording a tribute message for her friend via a video camera she's been bought, when she too is snatched and vanishes. We're then treated to footage from the found video camera of the last 22 minutes recorded on its film. In this were shown a 14 year old Amy chained up in a cell and made to eat food from a bowl like a dog. She's then led to another part of the kidnappers underground lair where she's brutally sexually assaulted, but the drama doesn't end there...

After this Amy begs her assailant to let her go home. He agrees, telling her to climb into a large barrel so as she won't see where the attack took place. As she nears the barrel she can see that inside is her former friend Megan's corpse.

As Amy cries out, she is dragged and placed inside the barrel with Megan's dead body. A prolonged scene follows as the killer then digs a hole big enough for the barrel to fit in, while Amy pleads from inside it, still alive. The barrel is buried after what feels like forever and the killer leaves the scene. Horrific!

The entire film is shot with the intention of appearing like a mockumentory, all from found footage of mobile phones, images left on the girls PC's, and film from Amy's camcorder. Right from the start of the film were shown webcam and recorded footage from the video. I'm not so sure that I believe the claim this is based on a real event, or that the last twenty-odd minutes we see are unedited as the film claims. It's certainly an horrific ordeal, but there's little evidence - if any - I've seen of this taking place (and I've looked, believe me). It seems more likely the film was built around a lot of different news stories and pieced together to make a whole. All in all it was a good film, I wasn't so impressed by the acting early on but as the film progressed it improved. The rape scene probably affected me more than Irreversibles, if I'm honest, and there are a few photographs seen of Megan being tortured prior to that that look awful, but I won't spoil anything for those who want to check it out. This wasn't as disturbing to me as others out there, but I can imagine to parents with a daughter this definitely could be terrifying. Well worth checking out, ignore the reviews!

Deliverance

I'd been recommended this by my father in law and sat on it for a few months before watching, not for any particular reason other than I didn't expect a whole lot. I hold my hands up and admit I was wrong!

I guess this is an older film compared to some of the others on my Most Disturbing list, but it really doesn't show it's age at all. The 'squeal like a pig' scene is the one I don't think I'll ever erase from memory - I think because of me not knowing what to expect - and so for that reason I'm not going to say much more on the matter.

The next image I haven't been able to shift and that's the toothless grin of the one redneck, having read a little about the film afterwards he was apparently a suggestion by Burt Reynolds to the director having worked with him in a stage play previously... he was brilliantly cast here IMO.

The movie itself is about a group of four friends who go on a camping/canoeing trip down the Mississippi River. Events transpire that lead them to killing a man, disposing of the body, then trying to cover their tracks... only a friend of the dead mans knows where they are and is intent on killing them for revenge.

The suspense to this film is done brilliantly, there are more twists and turns than the Mississippi has herself and it's thoroughly enjoyable. The film itself doesn't place so highly on my list purely because it's not what I would find 'disturbing' - bit either way this is an amazing film, and I recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it before. Well worth the watch!

Martyrs

I'd like to start off by saying that I'm a huge fan of the French horrors they've released of recent years (Haute Tension, Inside, Switchblade Romance etc) and so I've held on to Martyrs for a while before playing it almost in anticipation of the goodies it holds from what I'd heard...

The film is highly recommended by many fans of disturbing cinema, and ranked fairly highly on the majority of lists I've come across, but for me it just seemed to fall a little short of expectations.

Sure, the first half of the film is great as we get to see a little backstory of a girl who escapes being tortured etc and is eventually sent to an orphanage of some kind. Here she befriends another young girl. Fast forward fifteen years and they've located the house she was tortured in. They kill the family inside. It's clear the young girl who was tortured still has mental issues and she eventually kills herself, giving in to the image she has in her head of another girl she could have saved back when she was being tortured- but didn't.

The killing scenes are well done and graphic without being over the top. This isn't torture porn for the sake of it like some of the films contemporaries like Saw or Hostel etc - and that's a credit to the film.

However, as we near its final third the film almost seems like a separate film altogether from the one we saw at the beginning.

The second girl is captured, taken down to the basement where he friend had been tortured over a decade before, brutally beaten in unflinching scenes that are repeated again and again. The ladders descending to this basement by her attackers hit with a clunk to the floor when they drop which is especially well done.

Anyway, long story short, the basic premise is this group are torturing people to the point their bodies give up and the victims reach a state of ecstasy - somewhere between life and the afterlife. The girl is later flayed until her skin is gone from her body apart from around her face. It's exceptionally well done and again, deserves commending.

The girl, in this euphoric state, murmurs some words to a lady known only as Mademoiselle (who seems to be the chief ring leader of this cult) which eventually leads to the Mademoiselle shooting herself dead rather than revealing to the rest of the cult what it was the young victim had said.

It's here the film ends, somewhat unapologetically, and is open for the viewer to interpret as to what the young flayed girl said. I've read a few plausible suggestions online, but I don't buy them.

I won't spoil it for anyone that thought of checking this out. It's a good movie, just not one id readily place so highly on my Most Disturbing List is all. If you're interested in the recent resurgence of French Horrors of the past few years, a fan of disturbing cinema, or just looking to see how far you can pushed - it's well worth a watch, even the casual viewer may find it worth their time as this is a good film with some great cinematography and not overdone with regards to the gore etc.

I don't know if it's for everybody, but it's certainly not a bad film by any stretch. Well worth a watch, just not that highly ranked in my opinion when judged against some of the other 'sickening/disturbing' films in my collection is all.

August Undergrounds Mordum

Mordum is part of the August
Underground Trilogy and probably it's most famous/infamous. The basic premise is it being a pseudo-snuff film, filmed on a handheld camera. It opens with a scene of a woman having sex with a guy, and someone watching through a window or keyhole - we then find out the guy she's sleeping with is her brother. The woman opens to the door to the peeping tom after he keeps knocking, they have an argument, and in this argument the sexual tension rises with her then cutting herself with a piece of glass across the stomach. Sex and self multination within the first 5 minutes. Welcome to August Underground! There isn't too much of a plot aside from these sado-masochists going around killing people, intercut with scenes of them doing pretty much everyday things in between. But that almost adds to it's disgusting qualities with the thought that these people are living and walking around us - ticking time bombs - seemingly normal on the face of things. Sure, some of the footage is grainy, but again that adds to the realistic quality of this being pseudo snuff. I guess.

The effects are actually top quality, very realistic looking, there's a lot to disturb. Someone's bludgeoned to death with a hammer to the skull, a woman trapped in a box with a mask duct taped to her face - tied up - and showing signs on her arms where she's been cut. She's then forced to touch the female killers pussy and raped by the male one. He strangles her and spits on her chest... Then opens 'coffin' two, where her husband is trapped inside, and they say he either cuts off his own penis or they're going to fuck his wife with a knife. Reluctantly he starts snipping with the nail scissors... Brutal. 20 mins into the film!

The female killer then tastes the removed appendage before offering the victims wife 'one last fuck' with it. I won't go into too much more detail, but you get an idea.

In all honesty, this is definitely one of the most extreme films I've witnessed. I can see why people rate it so highly. I can see why a lot of people throw it into its own little 'torture-porn' subgenre at the same time, though, I'm not entirely convinced it deserves to be left at that and that alone. If you're a fan of films like Man Bites Dog or even just interested in picking this up to test your own stomachs - I'd recommend this as you won't be disappointed, it's not one for the fickle stomached though - you've been warned haha!

I like reading these at work quite a bit. I remember back when I was a younger man I'd read these type of threads on another site. Its almost worse than seeing the movie itself, depicting it in your mind. Never was one for gory flicks but a macabre sense of curiosity makes these threads great. I'd go so far as to suggest that you don't withhold anything due to spoilers; I'd imagine most people who read these are in it for the gory details and don't plan on watching. My 2 cents.

Dancake I agree with you for these written reviews. My intention is to make a youtube series reviewing these films and so I mainly write down each review after watching them, just so I have my initial thoughts down ready... I don't intend spoiling the movies for the people actually interested, but I understand they're more interesting to you guys if you know what awaits, so I'll keep the gory detail in there for my NCG's!

Thanks for the peepage!

Funny Games

I'll admit, i had never heard the term 'home invasion' prior to this film. But that's precisely what this film is about... Sort of. A family arrive for a vacation at this villa out of town. Two of the locals arrive who seem a little strange and overly keen to help. Through a short series of events early on, the families dog gets killed and the father is hit to the kneecap with a golf club that breaks his leg. The family are forced to sit on a sofa inside the villa by the two young locals, and that's where the film really starts.

As more is revealed about the two strange locals holding the family hostage, we find out that both are junkies that go around the villas looking for things to steal to buy drugs - and that one was molested as a child. Nothing too strong then, eh?

Well, amongst all this, the victims are bound and gagged, the families young son has a plastic bag placed over his head and visibly struggles to breathe in a game of 'cat in the bag' where the wife is made to strip in order to save the son. She complies. The two twenty-something's torturing them tell the family they'll all be dead within twelve hours, and there's a glimmer of hope when the young son escapes to a neighbouring villa, pursued by one of the killers, but we quickly discover this family are all dead, too. The little boy finds a shotgun and points it at the killer who's followed him... but the gun has no bullets in. The boy is quickly disarmed and led back to the holiday villa with his family. Once back at the villa, there's a scene where the mother grabs for the (now loaded by one of the killers) shotgun and shoots one of them dead. The killer hits a rewind button and as the movie starts the scene again, the killer doesn't die. Instead they shoot the child and his blood is left splattered all across the villas TV. Talk about a plasma television, right?! You soon realise this isn't your typical Hollywood horror film where a happy ending awaits. The two remaining parents then attempt an escape, only to later be tracked down, rebound up, and ultimately led to a boat which then sails out to sea and the bodies are dumped never to be found again. As the film closes, we see the killers knock the door of a new villa with a family inside, and implies the same process is repeated...

All in all this is a very well done movie. There are a few instances where the main killer talks directly I camera, which is well executed and almost gives you the feeling like you're an accomplice to the murder/torture in my opinion. The other thing i felt to point out is that there are two versions to this movie, one Austrian, and one a shot-for-shot exact remake called Funny Games US. The remake is copied scene for scene, however, if anyone feels like looking this up - I personally felt the original to be a little more haunting and overall more 'disturbing' which was the point in my original list. So although I didn't cover this and it's remake separately, my reasoning behind that is they're almost identical films albeit with different actors in the roles.

This is a great movie by one of my personal favourite directors, Ted Haneke, I'd recommend the Funny Games US version to people who aren't even horror fans. It's more a psychological thriller actually now I think of it. This one doesn't rate so highly on my disturbing list as others, maybe in concept it could, but it never really affected me in the same way as say... A Serbian Films ending or the turtle soup scene from Cannibal Holocaust. It certainly isn't for everybody, but I genuinely didn't find this one that bad. I was more disgusted at Human Centipede 2 in all honesty.

Nah, I seriously write all these up then post them. Eventually the idea is for me to create my own Youtube videos/series reviewing them for others who might be interested. These are more just pointers recording my original reactions right after watching the film(s).

I feel here I should add that Funny Games is also a sort of attack by Haneke on a Hollywood culture where a happy ending is expected and violence is made consumable etc - I didn't want anyone reading that may have seen it to think I completely overlooked that fact, I got it, it just wasn't really relevant for the review here I guess!

Cutting Moments

This one here's a short film actually but is still thrown up in a LOT of most sickening/disturbing lists - and rightly so! It uses it's short running time to great effect, cutting out a lot of 'character development', but this isn't really the type of movie where that's needed. It opens with what's clearly a dysfunctional family, there's child abuse and clearly a huge rift between the mother and the father - due to the father having zero interest in his wife now. She is desperate to make him want her again, and in one particularly graphic and longing scene she scrubs her face with a Brillo pad until she removes the bottom half of her face, leaving the bathroom sink drenched in her blood. Following this she re-enters the family living room where her husband is watching TV, in an attempt to seduce him with her bloodied red raw jaw covered in blood. She succeeds and eventually as the two of them fuck in the missionary position, the husband reaches for a pair of handy garden shears... then proceeds to chop of his own penis with an almighty chop that had me feeling to check Lars Jnr was still intact. The end.

It may not sound too brutal, (how bad could a short film possibly be, right?) but this film certainly does a lot with what it has. The special effects are brilliantly done and nothing looks cheap, the 'look' of the short is very realistic - especially the two scenes in particular I mentioned - and even though there's little to no real character development, that doesn't really detract from this short film at all, you still feel for those involved and it's graphic content is very well executed. This one doesn't rate so highly on my own personal list purely because it's only a short film and not an actual feature length movie, which is what I was looking at when I started this whole shindig, but for what it's worth this shouldn't be ignored by those interested in this sort of thing, the effects are very well done and impressive looking enough to make you wince. I should maybe do a separate list of short films etc with their own rankings as it doesn't seem fair almost to have this compared to features 3/4 times it's length but I really enjoyed this one, even if it's not for the faint of heart!

A Serbian Film

This is arguably the most notorious film out there. It's on just about every 'Most Sickening/Disturbing Movie' list you'll find posted, and for good reason. More often than not it's in the top three. Why you ask? Well before we get into that let's see what the films about...

The movie follows Milos, a retired porn star, who gets a mysterious offer to star in one last porno movie for mega bucks... but there's a clause. (Isn't there always?!) The new director doesn't tell Milos exactly what his role will be, or what it will entail.

There are a few scenes early on which may not be to everyone's taste, but probably the most infamous of the films is the "Newborn Porn" scene where Milos' director makes him watch one of his prized possessions... We see a mother give birth to a child while a medic delivers it, then as the mother grins on menacingly, the child is raped by the medic - fresh out of the womb. Disgusting. But that's far from the end of this film...

What follows is almost told via flashbacks in Milos' mind. His memory has been blank, but he gradually starts to piece bits back together of a frantic drug-fuelled night of filming... It starts with him hitting a woman doggy style on a filthy bed, before being handed a machete and lopping her head clean off at the point of climax.

We see a female friend of Milos' chained up, made to suck off a guy, who then closes her nostrils shut to stop her breathing - choking her to death with his cock.

Milos and his brother and brought into a room with a bed, its sheets covering two unknown bodies. Milos and his brother Marko fuck the pairs backsides... You almost hope you're wrong about who is beneath the sheets, but it is as horrific as you thought... it's Milos' own wife and their young son!

Milos gets his revenge on the people who wronged him, fucking one guys eye socket with his erect penis until he kills him. Death by getting your skullfucked moments after the guys unknowingly fucked his own sons asshole, yo! All bullshit aside, it's actually a really well done movie. It doesn't look cheap as often is the problem with some of these 'Most Disturbing' films on the list. It's well acted. It's certainly enough to stay with you for a few days after watching.

This one still rates really highly on my list, up there with Cannibal Holocaust, probably my #1 most disturbing film at this point. It definitely had one of the stronger impacts on me directly after finishing the film, stronger than say... Irreversible, which I'm also a huge fan of.

Everything is brilliantly shot, there's not much in the way of dialogue but that works in it's favour really as the bits it does have are almost comical. It has the benefit of being one of the first 'disturbing' films I watched (second after The Human Centipede) and maybe that little nostalgia has me rating it higher than I maybe would? It's really the film that started me off to find something more disturbing, I guess.

Apparently the director claims it's all a metaphor for Serbia being fucked over by the government. I can't say I buy into that at all, personally, but regardless this is well worth checking out if you're a fan of the genre - or even just into disturbing cinema - You won't forget this movie in a hurry, not probably want to watch it a second time - enjoy or endure!

Maniac (2012)

I thought the first-person camera was a brilliant idea, experiencing everything through the eyes of a serial killer. It reminded me a little of Man Bites Dog in that respect, but that's as far as the comparisons go.

This is definitely a strange one, not so sure if I'd have described it as 'disturbing' but it's an enjoyable film. I loved the homage to the film Dr. Caligari and I'm sure my fellow horror buffs will have too.

Elijah Wood puts in a great performance, even his voice has a sense of a little boy lost - despite it having menace to it at the same time. I actually found it quite enjoyable which you can't really say about some of the films on these 'most disturbing' lists.

I was actually pleasantly surprised with this having gone into the film not knowing what to expect - it definitely claimed a few scalps from those ahead in own list and I'd put it above some of the more 'known' movies frequently suggested in this field.

This ones surprisingly well executed, not just torture-porn for the sake of it, and fairly original IMO. It's worth a watch if you're a fan of the genre, or if you're just looking for something a little... different haha!

Why in God's name would any man chop off his own cock w/ a pair of garden shears???

Theres little dialogue to explain why, but basically they mutilate each others bodies in the bedroom, in a sadistic love scene. He chops of her breasts with the shears first and the turns them downwards towards his genitals. It's only a short film, around twenty minutes long if you're interested, YouTube or Ebaumsworld will have it. Give it a watch if you've time to kill... Check it's reviews on IMDB, they're good!

Salo or 120 days of Sodom

I’ve had this film in my collection almost a year now without opening it/watching. I tend to only open up these notorious nasties when i’ve the time to sit and enjoy them by myself with no interruptions, and i’ve heard a lot about this one... it’s not one to watch with granny visiting!

The movie starts much like the cover of the DVD i have, black and white, with the credits rolling out to the sound of some fairly upbeat music. Very strange given how perverse things later become! The initial tone of the film is set with four rich and obviously very powerful men sign and rubber stamp an agreement. They agree to marry each others daughters in the initial stage of some warped ritual.
The four Fascist leaders then come up with the brilliant plan of kidnapping nine teenage boys and nine teenage girls, taking them to a deserted, isolated palace where they can do whatever they want to them... They also bring along four old prostitutes who will tell them disgusting stories of their clients' depravity, in order to give them "ideas" of what they might like to do to these teenagers. The men's appetites seem to be mostly homosexual, so I don't see why they needed the girls. Anyway. Early on there’s a scene where one of the naked girls is tripped by a soldier, then raped from behind. As the rape is happening the others around the table laugh/continue to eat/look on. One of the four powerhouse men gets up, starts mooning the guests implying he wants to be sodomised, and the rapist already attacking the girl duly obliges him and literally goes from one to the other.

A young boy is wanked off by an older male/guard. A young woman is made to orgasm by one of the old prostitutes. Once the act is complete for both, they are declared a couple and some weird wedding takes place where the guests are all naked. The guests are sent out the room as the ceremony concludes... then the young ‘couple’ are told to consummate their marriage infront of the four Fascist leaders. It’s all fairly depraved, with the dictators stopping them and then it turning into somewhat of a hetero/homo orgy almost.

There’s more regaling tales from the prostitute, this time about a man who made her stay on all fours like a dog, making her chase two chestnuts before ejaculating on her back. One of the four Fascists leads a girl to a toilet to watch her piss/make her watch him piss. The other young girls and boys are led upstairs, naked, and on leashes like dogs and made to bark and beg for food. One of the girls is made to eat bread with nails inside causing her mouth to bleed as she cries out... which leads us nicely into the next chapter, which is called, “THE CIRCLE OF SHIT”!

One of the young female captives is made to eat a freshly laid pile of the Fascist dictators shit! One of the young boys is also made to marry one of the dictators around this section of the film, the boy dressed as a bride. Faeces is, apparently, thought of as a sadist deli***y of some sort to the dictators. The prostitutes are made to gather up all the childrens chamberpots, and eventually a giant banquet of turds is accumulated and dished up for the ‘wedding’ dinner. “Eat my exquisite bride, you must prepare for our night of love!” is declared by the groom – forcing spoonfuls of shit into his ‘brides’ mouth. Disgusting. It’s a truly awful and graphic piece of film.

There’s another scene where one of the young female victims is made to urinate on a bearded dictators face, along with dialogue from an old prostitute mostly to do with shit and the various tales from her past that include it. Regardless, this leads to the fascist dictators organizing a competition for the ‘best backside’... the winner receiving the prize of BEING KILLED!

To keep the competition fair, which is obviously of the utmost importance given how the first two hours of the film have unfolded, all the children are made to lie face down, ass up as their asses are inspected by torchlight. A winner is declared, by a 3-1 decision, but he isn’t killed immediately... instead he is told he is to be killed 1000 times over somehow. The prostitute then regales us with a tale of a man who believed the best tasting shit around would come from women who had just heard they were dying. Terminally ill patrons were then visited by him, and made to defacate infront of this ghastly loser for him to eat. How delightful. This final chapter is called “The circle of blood,” and quite frankly how i’ve made it this far is anyones guess.

Another bizarre ‘wedding’ ceremony is due to take place, this time with the fascist dictators all dressed as women and in black. Three of them marry three of the young boys. Once the marriage is consummated, one of the fascist leaders goes into the bedroom of the young boys... the child chosen as ‘rear of the year’ asks what will happen to him the next day. The fascist dodges the question. But the boy tells him someone is violating their rules... and that one of the girls is keeping a photograph under her pillow. There are various children who have been disobeying rules and the following day, those who have abided are given sky blue ribbons – those who haven’t await their fate...
We’re seen one boy having a lighter held to his flaccid penis, obviously screaming in pain as he’s held to the spot. Another girl has similar done to her breasts. The whole thing is thoroughly sadistic. One of the prostitutes throws herself from a window, committing suicide. Another boy has his tongue cut out with a knife, being watched by one of the Fascists who touches himself as he watches on. Another child is raped then lead to be hanged. An eye is gouged out, which is actually a pretty realistic looking scene – with a lot of the other darker scenes to this film, you don’t really see a great deal and a lot is left to the viewers imagination. A girl is scalped which again is pretty good effects wise given the date this was released. The film ends with two guards dancing, bizarrely. The entire film is high on the disturbing list for its disturbing factor alone, you can imagine a lot of people were disgusted with this at the time of its initial release. It’s still pretty daunting today. I’d rate this one fairly highly, maybe not as high as some as this one did feel slightly dated compared to others i own – not as out and out explicit – it’s another of those films where perhaps the explanation of what happens reads worse than whats actually seen. Take the bread with nails in that the young girl eats... that sounds horrific, but the scene really doesn’t show a whole lot other than her eating dough – screaming out – then blood coming from her mouth. It’s not graphic at all, neither are the rape scenes, or the tongue cutting scene to this one. If you want to check it out, do so, it definitely rates highly for me and it’s a film I probably wont sit through again OR show to a friend when they’re round. Essential for my collection, though!

I just posted what I had of the review last night... figured I'd add to it slightly for those interested...

It's worth noting that Salo is a very multi-layered movie with social commentry and whatnot, mainly on how society forcves people to conform... its almost A Serbian Film-esque in the fact it uses that metaphor (ASF came later of the two)

It's still a pretty brutal watch to this day, maybe not as graphic as some might think, certainly not as graphic as I imagined - but the content to it is truly disturbing. There are only a handful of films i've placed ahead of this on my list for wahetevr reason. It has literally zero replay value, I've no desire to sit through it again, and there arent many I can say that about. i wouldnt necessarily consider this a 'horror' like the majority of my films are - but this one earns its place at the top table. its still as demented as it sounds if you read up on reviews from elsewhere, and i can imagine for its time - this would have gained huge notoriety - i think it was only the year 2000 here when it got a UK release? that tells you a lot! some countries still have it banned.

for what its worth, i enjoyed it, it was a little long from what i rmeember (2 hours+?) and thats two hours of my life i'll never get back. some people have described Salo as an endurance test, and i cant say i feel theyre too wide of the mark with that haha

it was worth watching just to say i have and that i made it through the other end, but i wont be playing it again any time soon... this one is being added right back at the top of my DVD pile and kept firmly out of Mrs Lars reach!

I could pretty much juggle the top three, actually. AUM is only so low because it doesnt really have a plot. It's basically a 'found footage' cam following serial killers around on some pseudo-snuff shit. No plot. The effects are done REALLY fucking well and its a hard watch in one sitting, but def disturbing as fuck. I have ASerbianF so high because it had 3-4 scenes that were really like WTF moments and i remember them fucking with me, I felt dirty having finished watching the film. CH with the turtle soup scene and the soundtrack makes me wanna look away when it reaches that part, every time. But its really only that one scene that gets me, and the rape nearer the start. The chick skewered on the pole doesnt really affect me. Thats the only reason those three are ordered that way, I think CH has the most replay value, and it hasnt aged too badly at all. ASerbianF seriously LOOKS like a good fucking movie though, lots of ppl discredit it, but trust me - its worthy of a top three slot... all those three could easily top...

I actually didn't find Irreversible to be THAT bad, maybe it's just me? I love Noe, I think he's a brilliant director, and I enjoyed the film... BUT I just didn't find it that disturbing. The fire extinguisher scene shocked me more than the infamous rape. Sure it was horrific, sure the camera seemed to linger for entirely too long... but that's Noe at his best, making the viewer feel uncomfortable. A lot of people rate that movie as their #1 or top 5 at least... I guess it all comes from your personal experiences etc and how detached you are from the subject matter? Maybe.

I'll cover Dumplings next, if you've any other suggestions let me know! I'm waiting on a delivery of 32+ films right now tbh so I'll let you know what goodies are in there when they drop.

The Machinist

This film wasn't very high ranking in my mind, admittedly. I've owned it nine months or more and not looked twice at it. Saw it recommended in a few most disturbing/sickening lists but as it was a 15, I didn't have high hopes. I wish now I had checked for it sooner.

Bale plays Trevor Reznik, an insomniac who hasn't slept in over a year. His appearance is something of a manorexic early on. Skeleton thin and heroin junkie looking. There's not a great deal to gross you out but there's a good scene where a fellow machinist gets his hand chewed off by a machine and the lower half of the amputated arm remains trapped, spinning around wildly that I liked somewhat.

This film isn't so much disturbing in the gore hound sense, but pretty gripping in a psychological one. I pretty much guessed it was himself writing the notes, you see the marker pen earlier on as he's searching for a pencil. I didn't realise it was him who was the hit and run driver, but I'd half-guessed what was going on early in with the toothy guy that kept reappearing.

It's a brilliant ride though, hugely recommended, and I'm glad I gave it a chance. It doesn't rate so highly on my most disturbing list as others because I own some FUCKED UP shit, to be frank haha! But this is a genuinely great movie, not to be missed!

Yeah man, those two are right the way up there... those and August Underground are pretty much my top three. The order may change depending on my mood, entirely diff films in some respects but all have merit to the throne.

I've got Mulholland Drive (haven't watched) but i'm looking for a version with like these postcards or some shit inside? once i've got that version i'll watch.

I got a new copy of Eraserhead just this week, been had HC and HC2 - i'll wait on HC3 though until an uncut versions released. I dont think 3 will be anywhere near as bad as 2 was from what i've read from other horror heads.

You seen Headless? thats meant to be a good one, i'll be checking that out

got Kill Bill: the whole bloody affair which is fucking DOPE

Differences in this version in comparison to the separate Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 versions include the "old Klingon proverb" shown at the beginning of Vol. 1 is not present, although a dedication to filmmaker Kinji Fukasaku is in its place; the anime sequence is slightly longer with more gore; The House of Blue Leaves battle is in color (it had been toned down to black and white for the USA release of Vol. 1 only)[citation needed]; Sofie Fatale loses both of her arms; the revelation that The Bride's daughter is alive at the end of Vol. 1 is not present, nor is the short black and white scene at the beginning of Vol. 2 where The Bride is driving and sums up the action to that point; in its place is a small musical intermission that leads straight into Chapter 6.

the house of blue leaves fight in colour is fucking awesome

Tras El Cristal (In A Glass Cage)

This one gives little away on the cover, but it's a Spanish horror with English subtitles. I've got the Cult Epics unrated/uncensored/special edition version (figured I'd start stating the version as a lot of these have cut versions with a lot of the violence etc omitted)

The story follows an ex-Nazi doctor who was posted up in concentration camps. Due to his position of authority, he's able to commit sex crimes on little boys. Eventually after the war, he goes to Spain where no one knows him, gives into his warped peado sexual fantasies, and out of shame for his action attempts to kill himself by jumping from a roof...

He fails, but his body is crippled.

He's then kept alive on a giant iron lung machine, unable to move. His wife and daughter minister him until one day a male nurse arrives to take care of the doctor. They develop a weird relationship, the nurse discovers the Nazi doctors diaries and starts reading them - later re-enacting the acts out back on the doctor.

This involves, among other weird shit, jacking off into the Nazi doctors face while his crippled body is help in an iron lung, unable to move. It's pretty fucking disturbing even if you don't 'see' that much on camera.

The male nurse almost relishes the opportunity of exerting this power, that the doctor once used to have, and he gets keen to kill himself. Between turning the doctors house into a Nazi war camp knock off, and killing the doctors wife by hanging her over a balcony, he starts acting like the doctor would have - dressing in his nazi uniform and later abducting young boys to kill via lethal injections of gas direct to the heart.

It's not an easy ride this one. The sound made by the pump on the iron lung machine pumping oxygen is used to great effect to build tension, I thought they utilised that brilliantly. This one doesn't rate so highly as some of the more graphic ones I have in the collection, but this is a great film none the less. The psychological horror and leaving bits up to the viewers imagination works well.

There's a part near the end where the male nurse forces the nazi doctor to suck his cock while being kept alive on the iron lung, and the doctor dies by choking on the nurses penis, eyes rolling back as sperm/saliva drips from his face. Brilliant, but not for everyone. Pretty disturbing though, as Spanish horrors tend to be. I've only seen this and The Skin I Live In so maybe I'm making that assumption a little early on about the Spanish, but yeah, from what I've seen their plot lines in horror films are WAY out there haha!

Check it out.

Inside

I almost wanted to like this film before I'd even seen it. It was mentioned in a lot of the early Most Sickening/Disturbing film lists I read. It was French and they seem to try and push the envelope as far as horrors go. It was rated roughly a 7/10 on IMDB when I last looked, which is good going when you're as well versed as I am in art house and b-movie guff haha! I don't pay much attention to those ratings, personally, as a lot of what I collect isn't to everyone's taste - but all indications seemed positive.

This movie was pretty boring though truth be told, and I've sat through Salo/Guinea Pig/AU where there's little to no plot. The slow pace at the start really made it seem to drag for me, personally.

The premise is built around this pregnant chick who's involved in a car accident, the child's father dies, and the mother is bleeding thick dark vermillion clots from her mouth - making you think the worst for the child. Flash forward four months and she's still pregnant, about to conceive it.

There are several strange almost "premonitions" or things shown during her daydreaming that are a real mixed bag. Some effects are decently done, the CGI of the foetus in the room isn't too bad, which are good because you get an idea of the baby inside her being harmed. Theres a scene where she's projectile vomiting what looks like milk that looks terribly fake though, tbh. Literally so had I imagine I could recreate it to better effect in my own kitchen right now.

A strange woman comes to the house who wants to steal the baby, and will kill to get it. It quickly becomes apparent this is one for the gore hounds. There's bucket loads. And then some. Throats get cut and it leads to blood sprayed up the wall like a Pollack painting. The pregnant chicks own mom gets a stab to the neck on some Pandemikk shit LOL

A guy gets a pair of scissors/shears stabbed through his genitals, then the weapon gets twisted left and right just to exert more pain/blood.
The poor guy survives only to get a pillow put over his face and then stabbed again through the head. Must not have been his lucky day, eh?

So what else is there:-

The pregnant woman gets her hand stuck to the wall with the pair of giant scissors lanced through it.

A policeman gets a knitting needle to the eye, then has it struck through his skull sending him into some kind of nerve ending twitch even though he's dead.

His fellow officer gets half his face blown away by a close range shot from a gun.

There's some aerosol spray/home made flame thrower used at the end to kill off the sociopathic woman who is trying to steal the kid. The CGI lets it down again here though IMO. It looks cheap.

Mom of the year pierces her own oesophagus with a knitting needle and blood gushes out from her throat. Strangely, she then uses duct tape to try and hold the wound to neck together immediately afterwards. She arms herself with some extended spear/sheath blade looking contraption and goes hunting down the would-be kidnapper with the now-melted face.

Finding the melted-face weirdo woman, MFWW decides to now reveal she lost her baby in the car crash right at the start of the movie. Lame, but I suppose there had to be some motive, right? There's a great/horrible scene saved for near the end where the pregnant mom gets hit to the stomach with a police officers nightstick and no end of slime/placenta looking slop drops from her stomach onto the floor. It's pretty gross/lulzy.

The would-be child abducter/serial killer with the melted face then happens to find her maternal side and tries to help deliver the baby! Surely a master stroke in the script writing department there. Good lord.

But baby needs delivering - and who better? So melted face child abducting woman cuts away and the soon-to-be mum's clothing, before then taking her trusty giant set of scissors and literally CUTTING OPEN THE MOTHERS STOMACH with them to get the baby out. This is no c-section, folks. The belly is cut upwards, from the belly button, with a pair of scissors... then torn open with bare hands to get out the baby. Cue masses of dark red liquid pouring down the staircase. Pretty grim viewing, tbh.

Mom dies. Melted faced creepy weirdo child thief cradles baby in her arms and rocks him to sleep, replacing the dead child she lost in the car accident. Everyone lives unhappily ever after.

The end.

This one really didn't disturb me at all, I could imagine maybe if you were a chick or your girl was pregnant or something maybe it would be a little more disturbing? It's certainly dark subject matter but some of the effects with the baby in the womb took away from it for me. Sure, I haven't seen that done previously, but I don't doubt it could be done better. The blood looks very real an there's a lot of it for the gore fans, but there's not a whole lot more to offer here besides that. It's a blood feast. It was pretty short clocking in at around 80 mins I think? This rates under stuff like The Butcher by Noe - for me at least - and that's not even one of his more "known" flicks tbh. Not too disturbing, I could maybe see why people would think it sickening so I do give it some leeway I guess.

Watch the goriest scenes and skip the film, honestly, you're not missing much. There's way better out there.

I own this too, actually. Australian ish about some weirdo who lives with his mom? I only watched the first 5-10 mins to check the disc was playing okay (bought it second hand from EBay)

I'll peep/review this for you though because I've never seen it before.

I've sat and watched Freaks (1932), Kids (?), and Anti Christ (2009) tonight. Did a bit of a marathon - reviews need writing but AC is nowhere near the likes of AU, CH or ASF by my reckoning. It's way below. Seriously. Brilliant shot and the visuals are gorgeous, but not the most disturbing by a long shot...

I watched the Korean horror "The Butcher" too, haven't reviewed that but that was another to add to the torture porn list. A bit of a slow starter but once it got going it was non-stop slaughter, fairly short film too in all honesty. One for the gore hounds and sadists but not a great deal else for the rest of you.

I picked up a copy of Meat Grinder that seemed pretty promising, more torture porn from the look of the cover, but Google has it's running time at like 2hrs 50 mins or some shit?! LOL

There's not enough hours in the day for me to watch some of these. I'll get to some reviews tomorrow if I've time!

I saw that they used actually Carney folk. I think that's what puts me off
plus dude crawling underneath the carriage. I dislike grainy films it feels weird to me
but I survived Eraserhead and that shit still sticks in my head.

Is that Kids with Rosario Dawson. I used to have that.
someone left it at my house once and it became a part of the collection
I think I got rid of that though

Salo isn't even top three to me. It's pretty depraved in storyline, but in terms of what you physically see I don't honestly think it's that bad. A lot of scenes like the dogfood with nails in just look so cheap and badly done, by today's standards, that they've lost a lot of their shock value.

The likes of the turtle soup scene in CH are still shocking today, that holds more merit for me, personally.

Freaks is a REALLY odd one, the audios bad in parts as its from the 1930s and some of the characters can't speak all too well. I found the wiki article on the characters infinitely more interesting than the film itself. The films okayish, some terrible moments like Prince Randian crawling through mud with a knife his mouth like a man with no arms or legs is seriously threatening a Strongman LOL!

There's a kind or moral to it in that the 'normal' beautiful woman who tries to con one out money is actually the ugliest at hard. I liked that.

Not so much a horror or truly that disturbing IMO. I love having it in my collection though, I'd have never picked this up otherwise..

I watched a couple more on people's recommendations:

Antichrist was a huge flop for me, great cinematography, it's visually brilliant and I guess has a good buildup but I didn't like that film. The talking fox thing to camera is laughably bad. No idea why some people find that film so hard to watch, it's honestly got nothing on the likes of August Underground or A Serbian Film. It's pretty wack tbh, I liked The Machinist more and even Kids is probably rate higher than it.

Maybe it's just not my thing? I was disappointed. Had high hopes for that one.

Antichrist is TERRIBLE imho bro

Absolute waste of my time and not at all what I expected. In a bad way, though. It makes peoples top ten lists all the time, I seriously couldn't believe how long and boring it was with little payoff, the whole film is like a therapy session between the chick and her psychiatrist husband. Honestly, apart from the stunning visuals for the majority of the film, there's little else I found in there. Some guy gets a weight tied to his foot via a rod being struck through his ankle, he writhes around in pain and that's a little graphic... Nothing too bad, though. She cuts at his penis a bit later but you don't really see a great deal.

I preferred Meat Grinder which is like a poor mans Dumplings LOL

I dunno, feel like I wasted money and time getting that over priced piec of shit... and I buy a lot of overpriced shit haha!

Pink Flamingos:

LOL even the options screen of this movie are fucked up. There's questions being asked to Divine (the lead character) about whether blood turns her on. I hadn't even hit play. Weird shit.

There's a scene about 7-8 minutes in where a receptionist tells a woman to eat shit. Nice little nod to what happens at the end...

The acting is terrible in this but that isn't really the point. It's weird, very weird. From a transvestites mother being sat in a child's crib, to a chicken dying during a sex scene, to a son called Cracker. WTF did I just watch?! This is weird, it's depraved, it has someone eating fresh dog shit and the entire film is based around a transvestite out to prove "she" is the filthiest of them all. LOLOLOLOL

This is like a fairy tale in reverse.

It has to be a cult classic with those ingredients. I can't even remember what I paid for this, I only picked it up as it was on a lot of lists and I bought it blind. It does feel a little dated in it's cinematography but that completely isn't the point, it's shock value is what it obv went for - and this film has that. It's not a graphic horror or anything, but it's depraved. It could make you question who would direct this shit, and the real answer is drugs. A lot of 'em. John Waters has a lot to answer for.

That said, I did find it hilarious in parts. There's some weird pervert voyeur character called Raymond who is apparently the secretary woman's husband or some shit? He was stalking two girls in some woodland before revealing this bratwurst sausage hanging from his cock. No explanation as to why or how he came about at all. There's a scene later on where they explain, as a couple, they sell babies to local lesbian couples and then invest the money in local businesses - and heroin pushers outside school gates. LOL brilliant!

I honestly had a hard time understanding the plot to this, though again, I hardly think that's the point. The basic premise is just that the transvestite Divine is being hailed(?) as the Dirtiest Person Alive. Another chick wants the title, thus... The two go to war to out do each other. What follows is vile.

The chicken death sex scene thing is short but disgusting. A chicken died during filming, and one of the out takes shows them cooking it later on for dinner.

The dog walking scene has Divine literally eat freshly laid dogshit off the floor. No kidding. I feel stupider for having watched this, I think a few on peoples "disturbing" lists are literally just all about depravity. This another one of those. I'll keep it purely for completist reasons, but it's straight trash. I wouldn't sit through it again, anyone remotely interested just youtube the chicken and dog walking scenes for real...

Maniac (original, not the remake)

It's only like 2 and a half minutes in and two people have been killed already on a beach. One with a cut throat razor to the neck, the other garrotted from behind. I like this shit. Way better than the remake (which I'd seen previous to this one tbc).

The leads face as he kills looks really menacing, wild-eyed and sweating profusely, it's really believable due to Savinis work. The scalping too in the original looks better than the remake IMHO - despite it's age.

The leads schizo qualities where he's talking to himself and dressing up the mannequins with the scalped wigs is haunting too. Very odd yet it definitely adds to the movie here, as you seem to see inside the killers mind. Another great thing here is the POV shots from the killers eye, him following in the car early on is a nice touch - they obv picked up on that in the female where you see the entire thing from that perspective. It's used to great effect in this one too.

There's a great scene around the half an hour mark where a guy gets his melon split open via a close range shotgun blast through a car windscreen. I can def see why this ultra violence had it on the BBFCs banned list all those years ago - especially given the hype around the video nasties of the era and outcry surrounding certain films. Is it disturbing? I guess the concept of the film portraying the serial killers mind and actions is disturbing, sure, but the movie isn't that bad or graphic compared to what we have now. I quite like the fact it's not as over the top in that sense, the film is more about the Frank Zito character and what makes him tick rather than senseless brutality and non-stop violence. That's what makes it interesting. He plays the character so well he makes him believable. More so than I found with Elijah Wood in the remake.

There's the obligatory cliche chase through a Cemetary which is wack but I looked past it, you get a hint at the killers troubled past through child abuse but then one of the strangest, unforgettable death scenes you'll see as a room full of mannequins come alive, stab the serial killer and cut off his arm before decapitating his head from his body with their bare hands. Only it doesn't end there... (as I'm sure the remake does, and this one quite possibly could have done) it turns out that the mannequin death scene had been in the killers dreams! He is on his bed with a long knife embedded in his stomach, eyes shut, blood soaked sheets etc

Two police officers enter his room, seemingly as if they've solved the recent spate of killings and located the guy responsible. Seeing him lay on the bed pooled in his own blood and knifed in the gut, they presume he's dead, and go to search his apartment for clues/more bodies/accomplices/who knows? Anyway as they exit the room he is lay in, the camera pans into his face and BOOM! his eyes open to indicate this tale isn't finished there... THE END!

I don't know if there is a part two to this one, if there is I don't have it. This was great though for a movie older than even I am. Maybe not top of my disturbing list, but still a damn good movie and it's remake is still pretty good too - and fairly in keep with its predecessor even if they alter in some respects. Personally, I like this one (the first) slightly better. The Frank Zito character is played really well and looks like Ron Jeremy in his younger years LOL

Dogtooth:

Dogtooth

Right, this film is some pretty crazy Greek shit tbh bruhs! It started off strange, I literally had no idea what was happening at around 15 minutes in... From what I can work out, the parents of these three children in their late teens-twenties are control freaks. At the most extreme you can think of. They lie to their children about everything to do with the outside world, keeping their kids trapped inside the house and garden. These children live entirely sheltered lives with almost zero outside interference. The one son is reaching puberty or sexual maturity, so good old dad enlists this security woman from the world outside to pop around once a week and give his son sex lessons... Not weird enough for you yet? Well, amidst all this, we have some incest between brother and sister. There's a cat who appears in their backyard (which the sheltered kids have never seen) and the son attacks and kills it with a pair of garden shears. As you do.

The father then spins them a yarn on how a cat is a deadly animal that prowls the other side of the garden fences perimeter where they should never go, he covers himself in red paint to look like blood and rips his own clothes to then tell them the cat had killed their brother. It really is as bizarre as it sounds! The three kids are then taught how to defend themselves from a cat incase they ever encounter one again... and the parent watches on as his three grown adult children bark like dogs in his garden on all fours.

What in the actual fuck haha! This movie actually has a darkly comical side to it, I can't help but laugh, but the idea behind this is so out there I guarantee you'll have seen nothing like it before. I certainly haven't.

It almost reminded me of Josef Fritzl at the start, but rather than it be a straight up incestuous keep the children indoors affair - it seemed to me more a "The extremes parents will go to to protect their children" movie in a sense. As I said, the black humour runs right through this film, the kids are told a "pussy" is a big light and that the voice singing "Fly Me To The Moon" is their Grandfather, not Frank Sinatra. It's extraordinary stuff but believable that a family could actually take things that far! A little later, one of the girls acquires video tapes of Rocky and Jaws in return for a sexual favour with the female security guard there to please the brother/son. Once the dad has found out about the videotapes, he duct tapes one to his hand and beats his daughter around the head with it.

LOL

He later heads round to the security bitches house who gave his daughter the tapes, unplugs her VCR then beats her round the head with the player.

There's more incest and dark humour around zombies being little yellow flowers that makes no sense out of context to you guys reading this so I won't bore you with that haha! There's also this fucked up dance routine the kids come up with for their parents wedding anniversary, having no idea of choreography in the world outside, and it's literally the stuff of nightmares seeing them do this dance. I don't think too many things are fucked up, but the cat killing scene and this dance routine are stuck in my mind after watching haha! This bitch stays stone faced all the way through too, I've no idea how she didn't burst out laughing during that crap. It's fucking horrendous. You honestly feel like the woman/daughter is mentally ill and you're watching this when you really shouldn't be. Another thing here I should probably mention that I somehow forgot, is that the title of the film comes from a belief in the family that you can't leave the house until your dogtooth (canine) has fallen out and been replaced. This leads the eldest daughter, the one who got hold of the videos earlier, to try knocking her own tooth out with a weight of some sort. That scenes pretty hard watching smack her own tooth out of her face infront of a mirror...

The daughter then climbs into the boot of the car her father drives, seeming to think this is her way out now she's lost her dogtooth, but obviously no one knows she's in there. The family search but to no avail. The film ends with the camera shot looking at the closed boot of the car. That's it. The parents actions are never explained and in a way that just adds to the fucked up quality of this film, for me at least.

I'd have to say I actually found this to be more disturbing than Irreversible even. And I'm a huge Noe fan, but honestly the fire extinguisher scene affected me more than the rape scene in that movie - and the disturbing factor in this one is right out there.

I'm not really a huge gore hound like a lot of these lists seen based on, once you've seen a few torture porn movies it gets a little tiresome, but the fact families not too far removed from these depicted here - the Wests, the Fritzls etc - it makes this one seem all the more believable. This one rates pretty high for me, higher than a lot of people I've seen compile lists of these shits. I'd say maybe even top ten so far without my list to hand to rate it accordingly. Definitely fucked up and not one I'll forget in a while, but one I may go back and watch again. This ones a good movie actually, completely surprised me. Worth checking out!

ISOYG

The version I've got is the uncut Ultimate Edition complete with booklet and Day Of The Woman poster, I checked the running time on my shit and it says 200 mins approx so I'm hoping that's with all the extras/interviews etc and not the actual running time of the feature (3+ hours WTF!?)

This is one of the most notorious of the original "video nasties" so I was really looking forward to watching it. The basic premise is a female short story writer heads to a cabin in the woods for the summer, to attempt to write her first novel. Once there she runs into these four local yokel redneck types, and one simple one in particular who is a virgin who obv likes this New York writer chick.

About 25 mins into the film, the four rednecks capture and drag the broad of to a deserted place and the three guys hold her down as one rapes her. It's over pretty quick. They try to encourage the virgin simpleton to take a turn, but he refuses before letting her go. She eventually reaches a further secluded place, still naked, where the four capture her again. Raping her a second time before driving off in their speedboat and leaving her for dead. In fairness the rape scene here didn't shock me as much as the one shown in Cannibal Holocaust. The chick is then scene making her way to her cut, and reaching for a telephone. The four redneck locals turn up again though, just when you think she's survived the ordeal... and after some liquid self-confidence, the retarded yokel Matthew duly takes his turn to rape the woman whilst egged on by his friends as she lies blooded and beaten.

The retarded Matthew is sent back in with a knife and instructions to kill her, he coats the knife in her blood to pretend he has but he hasn't gone through with it... The four men then escape on their speedboat and leave the bitch for dead.

Two weeks pass, and the men head on a reconnaissance mission to check on the body... only to find the chick is alive and well. They beat the shit out of the idiot sent to kill her and send him packing. The woman is then out for revenge and hunts the loser rapists down to kill them all. The first she catches up with is the simpleton Matthew, who's death is lulzy to me. So far stretched. He basically is tempted to try and sleep with her again, only during intercourse she slips a noose over his neck and he's quickly suspended from a tree branch until he dies. Who would even think of that?! LOL stupidest death ever. The guy had a knife he dropped, stabbing him with that would have been so much easier. It's laughable to watch how he's despised of. Oh well, one moron down, three to go...

The next is the apparent ring leader of the group, again tempted by sex with the woman gang raped by them earlier. Long story short, he talks to her about the rape like it was all her fault for dressing seductively etc - and gets him back to hers under a pretence of a bath. She reveals here that she's killed Matthew the moron and sneaks a knife out to castrate the ring leader guy in the bath LOL you don't see a whole lot other than blood covering the guys body, but it's more about what she does after it, locking the bathroom door on him and cranking up classical music to drown out his screams. It's pretty hard faced and relentless of her. There's a LOT of blood for her to clean up later on! Why she didn't just shoot the motherfucker in the face when she had the gun is anyone's guess, but I'm almost glad he died the way he did. It was a bit more sadistic and thought out that way, there's no way in hell you wouldn't just pop him while you had the chance and be done with him though. It hurts the plot slightly, for me, as it's just implausible to act that way. The chick catches up to rapist #3 and #4 - dude catching an axe to back of his skull, before the last seems to get caught in the propellor of the speedboat and dies? It all ends a bit fast, for my liking. There's nothing really "resolved" other then she gets her revenge and... that's it! I expected a bit more, more of a payoff maybe. More of a conclusion to it? I dunno. I think this far from the movie it's portrayed as. The rape scenes aren't even THAT bad, especially given films like Irreversible, and before people chime in about the era ISOYG is from... I said earlier in the review that I personally felt the rape scene in CH was more shocking and effective, which is the same era. I dunno, this is a decent flick, I maybe would watch again buy it's definitely not one of the most sickening or disturbing IMO. It's basically a revenge thriller, and not even a particularly well done one, I'd seriously advise anyone to peep "Deliverance" with Burt Reynolds in before this. Similar type film, I guess, and it even has a rape scene more shocking than the one here - plus it's build up, characters, and whole feel are done better than this was here. Check that shit out!

ISOYG Remake

This remake is more like it. More of a backstory, the rednecks/gas station workers are given more reason behind raping the bitch. There's music to help put you on edge throughout, the first has nothing like that to build up suspense. There's more tension to this one and that's also a plus, more scenes to make you jump that work. I had this turned up way too loud following the low audio on the original I'd watched just beforehand. There's a real menace to their performance.

The scene making her suck the gun is pretty dark, but I hated the clichéd falling over as she run away... Bitch ran straight into a psycho Sheriff, this version def reminded me more of Deliverance with the whole making her squeal shit. There's only so many retarded sex faces I can watch in one day haha!

The second rape where they sodomise her feels too short in comparison to the originals... but the after scene where she's walking and trembling and lost really adds to it and the whole feeling of how horrific the ordeal would be. I think the decision to have her drop in the water was a plus point on the originals plot, as you're not going to trust the most retarded person in the group to ensure the victim is dead, are you? The first had too many unbelievable plot holes that stood out like sore thumbs. I was glad to see they went against that in the remake.

Matthew the moron gets disposed of in a similar way to the first film, only not as over the top, which is a good thing - but this version maintains the sadistic side to the woman which I was pleased about. The revenge part is ultimately what makes the movie and gives it it's payoff. The rest is all a setup leading to those points, essentially.

Rapists 2 and 3 get disposed of a little too easy for my liking with the wooden bat, and the bathtub torture thing seemed too elaborate a setup for the woman to construct in the middle of nowhere. The eye hooks to the face as well just seemed too elaborate to me. It was unrealistic, maybe not as much so as the first movie so it's an improvement on that I guess but it still felt a little out of place to me - yeah I love revenge shit, but it all felt a little Saw-esque what she was doing. I don't even mind over the top shit, I just felt the Lye and Crows ish was too convenient to have all the necessary crap lying around to set those up. The crow with the eyeball is a sick scene though!

The tooth removal shit is nasty too but again, a bit too elaborate to have the guy suspended with ropes and pulleys from the ceiling and blah blah blah... The castration scene to the remake is way better than the original though, and a nice nod to the original so I really enjoyed that aspect. The bitch feeds the guy his own cock haha!

I completely forgot about the Sheriff in this one, he's still alive at the end, and his death is pretty fucking spectacular. Again, it's another Saw/Hostel torture porn like setup. this time with a shotgun stuck up his ass that the woman rapes him anally with before the rig she's set up kills him by blowing out his ass and the same bullet hiring the retarded Matthew on the other side of the room LOL

The movie ends there with the woman smirking, not too far dissimilar to the original, but the select few changes it made WERE for the better - though I still think they could have done these even better to IMO. The remake is a pretty solid movie in it's own right, def worth the watch fellas. It maybe doesn't rate too highly on my "most disturbing" list, but I'm not really into the torture porn genre and this second one tends to fall into that if I'm honest. Way more so than the first. There's elements in both versions I prefer over their namesakes, oddly enough the "Matthew" character in the first I enjoyed more, where the remakes was the more authentic acting. The methods of revenge in the first seemed way over the top in places, the retards death in the first being completely nonsensical - so the second wins out in instances like that but both versions revenge seemed OTT if I'm honest... that's what people paid for though, I guess? Overall, I'd go with the remake in truth. Personally though I'd like to see the whole thing remade again, with the revenge sequences made more believable and less torture chamber looking.

“Vomit Gore 4 is the prequel to Lucifer Valentine’s Vomit Gore Trilogy. In this demonic labyrinth we experience the satanic ritual which spawns endless incarnations of Angela Aberdeen, as she is doomed to live out her haunted existence of the eternal “lost girl”. One dark, cold Christmas night, we enter Angela’s kingdom of hell, and witness her tortured mutations as we descend deeper into her satanic netherworld of the black mass of the Nazi sex wizard.”

On the surface, Vomit Gore 4, much like the other films in the original trilogy, looks like a snuff film. The candid angles of Valentine’s camera gives the appearance of home videos recovered from a crime scene. The vomiting is real. The bondage is real. The gore is fake. The film has multiple disclaimers at the start of the film. They serve to remind people that this is only a movie and the actresses involved were not forced to do anything. That being said, you’ll pause this film and reflect on that disclaimer at multiple points. This is a film, certainly not entertainment, which is assembled with the air of realism. The argument of whether or not Valentine’s films are entertainment or not is one that has been debated for years and will continue to do so. As stated earlier, I do not find Vomit Gore 4 to be entertaining, however, I do find it to be art.

Valentine has constructed a film that is brimming with social political commentary. The theme of parents and their childrearing are consistent throughout this film. The scarring nature of child stardom and pageantry are hard to ignore. [Redacted sentence]. The themes and imagery doesn’t stop there as vomit gets into the mix. Again, people will only see the shock if that is what they are looking for. I urge anyone watching this film to dig a little deeper.

Not only is Valentine sharing his message and using social political commentary, he also uses the imagery of literary references. The shots of laying in the water are clear reference to Shakespeare’s Ophelia. This imagery is used multiple times throughout the film in reference to transformation, the other major theme of this film. It also begs the question as to whether or not Angela Aberdeen was crazy. Much like in Hamlet, Angela’s sanity depends on the reader, or viewer, as it were.

Returning to discussion on the technical aspects of this film, Valentine is growing exponentially as a filmmaker. The home video master/slave sequences feel like a true voyeuristic perversion. The effect is hypnotic. As the editing bounces around in seemingly well timed cuts, the score to the film fills you with dread. To even more effect are the perfect moments when the score pulls away. The drone sounds coupled with feedback and other effects heighten the sense of dread that permeates with every scene. Not to be outdone, the sounds effects and overall sound design to this film outshine any gory or violent scene. These are the types of sounds that would make you wretch even if you were unable to see what was happening.

Between the Satanist metaphors, literary imagery, and philosophical pondering, Vomit Gore 4 is much more than the type of film it will be labeled as. The ideas surrounding this film are not easily present and will only be rewarded to those that are willing to look past the torture porn, gore and fetishism. Valentine may not be out front with his ideas but they are certainly there and will be more achievable to understand upon multiple viewings. If you are reading this article and know what you are getting into then this is a must see film. If you have never heard of Lucifer Valentine or his Vomit Gore films then this may not be for you. For those that are looking for a thought provoking and challenging horror film that will push boundaries, as well as your comfort level, look no further. This is Valentine’s best work to date that tells a deeper story than previous efforts. To me, this is art, unquantifiable on a rating system. It’s not as fun as a slasher or as scary as a monster movie but it will challenge you. In this genre, making a film that challenges my thoughts and preconceived notions is about as high of a compliment as I can give.

EDIT: Oh, Bad Boy Bubby. I legit haven't watched that yet, been mega busy. Last I watched was Stigmata (not really a horror I guess, but pretty good)

I've watched a few more but haven't typed up reviews yet. It's coming! I actually don't own that one besides on DVD-R. It's quite expensive over here. I've watched the opening 20-30 minutes though.

I would put it high in my most disturbing list, I remember getting stoned as a teenager and watching it at my mates house with some other people, not really knowing what it was gonna be like and people getting disgusted and walking out of the room saying they didn't want to watch it. It actually ends pretty fine like a good ending with a bit of thought-provoking shit, but its like a pretty hard film to understand. Its almost like an analysis of a crazy person although Bubbys not crazy he was just brought up in a vacuum so he dosent understand the world.

This one is a really gritty British film starring Ray Winston where he plays a jealous coke sniffing wife beater, and my god does he play it well! Kathy Burke plays his distraught wife, and there's a really shocking scene where he beats and stomps on her while she's pregnant - later losing the baby - all because he felt she was overly friendly while talking to a male friend in the pub. I love Ray in this, he's at his snarling best in my opinion and nobody does it better.

Some of the violent scenes are hard to watch and that's testimony to how well their acted. The atmosphere is tense throughout and while the content doesn't disturb me as such, I can still vouch for this as a great movie, the feel of it is very real even if you don't see that much physical violence. The only reason this is so low on my list is that I've a lot more disturbing/sickening cinema in my collection than most and have seen worse. Few are a better actual movie than this as a whole though, and I feel a lot of people would "enjoy" this as a film than a lot of those like August Underground or the Vomit Gore films - they're entirely different beasts all together in my opinion - those sorts of film are made for a niche market whereas this one is more as a film depicting what happens in real life behind closed doors. A very good movie, worth a watch if you haven't seen it. The gore hounds and sickos would be better looking elsewhere though!

Meet The Feebles

This ones an early film by Peter Jackson (King Kong) but his early work is NOTHING like what you would expect from him now! Meet The Feebles is a strange one to try and explain to those who haven't seen it. Think of The Muppets on crack. Or the whole of Sesame Street being alcoholic, cheating, swearing assholes. That's essentially this movie in a nut shell.

Were introduced to a bizarre world where "The Feebles" are all manner of celebrity singing/dancing animals. Were introduced to various Feebles characters and their lives/mishaps. I forget their names off hand but there's a chain smoking event organiser/agent with a rats face who is pretty funny throughout and into all aspects of filth - even recording beastiality porn with some of the Feebles!

There's a dumb dirt person elephant who deny's that this kid is his despite its obvious trunk and giant ears LOL. The main manager is a cigar chomping seal who's wife is the lead singer of The Feebles, a hippo and diva conscious about her weight. Again, I forget the exact plot it all revolves around as this film is just one big pisstake out of the Muppets and the industry as a whole. The seal manager guy cheats on his hippo wife and from what I remember - she guns down the entire set and kills them all. The elephant deadbeat dad jumps in the firing line to save the son he denied was his.

The plot to this one doesn't matter much as I imagine the director was on a lot of drugs when he made this movie. It's not so much sickening or disturbing and for the life of me I can't see why it makes anyone's lists other than to troll people into watching an hour and a half of its insane plot! I enjoyed the dark humour in places, and it was actually a relatively enjoyable film comparing to some others I own/watch but it's just not really a disturbing movie other than in the fact of "The director must be disturbed to have ever thought this would be a decent idea!". It doesn't rate highly on my list at all, and I'd advise the majority of you to avoid it even if I didn't think it was THAT bad. This is one for the cult fans only. I liked it, most probably wouldn't. It's still hard imagining Peter Jackson ever committing to this!

The Incredible Shrinking Man

This one isn't from my most sickening/disturbing collection but I loved the initial front cover of it as it looked a bit cheesy, so I decided to watch!

It follows the story of a man called Scott Carey, and is narrated as if told by him in a true story fashion. The basic premise is that while he's on a holiday boat with his wife, the boat goes through a strange mist, and over the coming days he slowly notices himself shrinking.

The special effects are really good for its time I think and the story is actually a really bizarre one I've never seen done before. As the man shrinks all the way down to around 4 inches tall, his wife starts to keep him living in A DOLL HOUSE inside his own living room!

All is well until the wife accidentally lets their pet cat into the living room one day and the cat rightfully attacks him with its paw, knocking him to the ground. Scott Carey realises it's no longer safe to remain there, especially with him getting gradually smaller and smaller, as that blow would have killed a lesser man... Good thinking!

There's also an epic fight with a spider early on that drives Scott away from the relative security of the dolls house he lived. Anyway, eventually, Scott needs some food. The food is some piece of bread or cake (I forget!) left on top of a cupboard but perched perilously close to the spiders web. He realises that he needs to get to it quickly - while he has the strength - and that he needs to do it before he shrinks any more and it becomes an even harder task to overcome! So armed with what looks like a safety pin, a piece of wool, and a nail he's found - he sets on his journey, using the safety pin and wool as a makeshift grappling hook to climb up the side of things! That's genius. I love whoever thought of this!

He tempts the spider down by pulling at the string of its web, then there's a short fight to death which ends with Scott puncturing the spiders underbelly with the nail he used. Scott's first idea of despising the spider by attaching the wool to a heavy pair of scissors and hoping it would pull the spider over was brilliant though!

The film ends with Scott finally dissipating into nothing as he shrinks and shrinks over time. His thoughts and fears finally become ones of acceptance and enjoying being one with the world, accepting the fact he's just an infinitesimally small thing that makes up a huge, huge, universe. It's a polarising ending in some ways and I do thoroughly enjoy those, there's no happy ending for the guy, but that may have felt like a copout had they done so. I much prefer it ending the way it does. Very enjoyable film this!

The Green Inferno

So I'm slightly inebriated and just realised this got delivered. I'll start by saying I've wanted to like Eli Roth, but I've found a few of his previous films not living up to the hype. I hope it's different here. He's a huge fan of the cannibal films of the 80's so I'm hoping he does this justice!

The female genitalia mutulation scene early on is quite shocking, didn't expect to see that so early on haha! I hate the white chick in this, instantly. She looks like a crackhead. The dialogue with the prettier white chick and Allessandro or whatever seems awkward and unnatural. The little love triangle thing instantly bored me too, there's just no need.

The basic story follows that Justine meets an activist called Alejandro who wants to save the Amazon. Smitten, she agrees... but soon regrets her decision when their plane crashes in the Peruvian Jungle and their group are taken captive by bloodthirsty cannibals.

LOL @ a tarantula almost biting the guys cock while he stopped for a piss! Should have done it. Or had him shoot his dick off. Either would have been cooler than neither. The supporting cast do well though and the story is building nicely at this point. They plane crashed where the driver gets a pole through his face is pretty cool, someone catches a propeller blade to the face too which is decent but not nearly as gory as Id like and over all too fast.

The travellers/activists are soon ambushed by the cannibals - mostly shot with either poison darts or arrows shot at them. The cannibals camp or village is displayed really well with several severed heads and rib cages lining pointed pieces of wood and the cannibals themselves all coated in a rich red blood looking colour. Great stuff. There's more than a few nods to Cannibal Holocaust at this point which was great for me as a fan of the genre! I disliked the "look" if the cannibal chief at this point (Crack Sparrow) just when I was really digging this flick. The pig pen almost reminded me of Cannibal Ferox so I did enjoy seeing them running around haha! The eyes being torn out and eaten was a cool scene, if a little over the top, but lord knows how the tongue removal and limb dismemberment made it past the excessive violence regulators - of the head dismemberment and blood drinking. Thoroughly entertaining stuff! The idea of the captives "smelling" their friend being cooked works well, too. I thought it was a nice touch - vastly overlooked - Roth did well with that idea. The scenes of meat slog being stripped from bone with sharpened tools is nicely done too and well thought out. There's then a scene where one of the captives needs to shit real bad while in the pen they're all trapped. It's long, noisy, and meant to be amusing but I found it anything but. I'd have almost certainly cut that.

Crack Sparrow the cannibal leader seems to insert some giant blade-cum-tusk into the three women's vaginas to see if they're virgins. Only the final one passes the test by bleeding onto the tusk/sharpened bone. This seems to delight the cannibal kind, but she's soon thrown back in the wooden cage with the other "survivors". The captives are fed some meat of their former friend, unknowingly, and when one female friend in particular realises - she breaks a pot into shards and slits her own throat in horror! Alejandro decides to masturbate, as you would with a corpse next to you with its throat slit. Regardless, the guys hit on a genuis plan to hide some pot they have INSIDE THE CORPSE of the suicidal woman... The belief being, as she's cooked alive, it will stone the lot of them. As ridiculous as it seems, it works, with some so stoned they fall from their tree perches whiles others lie laughing with their friends. Inevitably, they then get the munchies and want to eat - tearing apart one of the male captives in what I'd say is a knowing nod to the film Maniac right at its climax. Good stuff! There's a hugely pointless scene where one chick jumps in a muddy river and gets washed away upstream and needs saving. She's saved within about 30 seconds. There is literally no point to this happening and it feels out of place. I'd cut it. So we follow two survivors as they're attempting to escape... only their plan is foiled, and they're soon recaptured. The females body is strapped up in stocks and she's being prepped for a meal as her friend is tied to a wooden stake and hacked to pieces, slowly, limb for limb. The hogtied female seems as if she is being prepped for something more significant. The male is then covered in ants that proceed to bite his skin as he suffers and its prolonged. Eventually, a young native cannibal boy the chick had befriended earlier in the film agrees to free her and show her to freedom. She escapes. Just as she's finally rescued, there's a scene where a helicopter pilot asks if there was anyone else left to save. She says no, despite knowing Alejandro is still trapped in a cage with the cannibals - and is most likely their next meal! This could make way for a sequel, I guess? Maybe with him as the head of the cannibals, maybe something different all together? The ending was okay, maybe not the sickening/disturbing sort of thing I had hoped but definitely not bad and with a few flashes of brilliance brought to keep me interested in Eli Roth and his potential. When he gets it right, I thoroughly enjoy his stuff, but certain parts just seem a little corny or amateurish to me - the shit scene in particular with this film, I just don't feel like it's the type of film that needed that toilet humour. Maybe it's just me? Anyway, I enjoyed this movie, loved seeing the decapitation and dismemberment relatively early on - I can see a few people not liking this as much, but others appreciating the nods to the films gone by, which is certainly how I viewed it. If I'm not missing something, I feel the lead female painted white with the red band over the eyes could be a cult image many will recognise for years to come!

Frozen

I didn't have high hopes for this one going into it. It was rated 15, which isn't the end of the world, but the majority of my shit is unrated or pre-certification so having those ratings on usually means it's child friendly or cut - two of the things I generally steer away from.

The film follows a young couple, and the guys best friend. They head up on to a ski resort and use one of those sky rides to get up. The problems start once they attempt to get back down, when the machine is stopped - a storm is incoming - and the park isn't due to re-open for 5 or so days!

One of the groups males decides he will jump down from the sky ride to try and get help. He jumps, lands, and ends up breaking both of his legs - with a glorious shot of the bone poking out of the side. That's pretty graphic and fucked up haha!

The two remaining friends in the sky ride cart realise if they don't act soon, their broken legged bro is gonna freeze and die in the wilderness. One strikes up the ingenious idea of climbing the cable car, then descending back on themselves to reach a car nearer the floor to avoid further bone breaking as they jump down. Just at this moment, a MOUNTAIN WOLF appears at the feet of the invalid who jumped down and broke both legs! Amazing. Luckily, one of them up in the cable cart unhooks their snowboard in time and it scares the mountain wolf away...

... The wolf returns with a pack this time though and they eat the friend, howling echoing throughout the snowcapped trees and mountain until silence envelops the remaining two friends. Good stuff!

The friends then start blaming each other for letting him jump, knowing it was too high. Both question each other but there was really little either could do in that situation. The movie returns to the following day, both friends are sat in the sky ride and it's been so cold - the females hand is frozen to the metallic safety bar on the cart. She peels it off as the skin sticks to the ice, frozen to it, leaving a bloody print where her hand had sat. That's a good scene!

There's an intermission where the two friends talk on what they'll do when they get home eyc before one of them attempts to climb back to the can behind - and makes it. He fights off a mountain wolf before grabbing a board and snowboarding down the mountain with a pack of wolves following. The one friend is still stuck in the sky ride for hours as day turns to night. She's heavily frost bitten and with no sign of he guy making it back to save her, starts looking to jump from the cart.

The cart at this point snaps, sending her towards the ground, only for it to suspend her mid way down. Clinging on for her life, the chords then start snapping and she's forced to jump before it crashes - saving her life, but the cart lands on her ankle - stopping her from walking. She crawls trough the snow, stumbling across the wolf pack as they devour a meal... what looks to be her friend!

She crawls on her stomach and falls down the mountain, finally reaching a point with passing traffic but is unable to stand to contact them or stop them for help. Someone eventually finds her asleep and exhausted at the foot of the snowy mountain and she's taken to safety. The end.

I'd have sooner it had a final horrific twist and ended badly, I'm not a fan of happy endings. This one was surprisingly decent despite its low age rating. I wouldn't put it in my "most disturbing" films at all, though some had, hence it being reviewed. Give this one a miss!

I've ordered a few Category 3 films that are literally insane. Things like the Death File series, Gusomilk (scat porn/shit), MASD-004 (more of the same, I think? Scat porn-esque), MDPOPE 1 and 2, Genki (tentacle porn, don't ask!), Squirmfest (everything you can think of, Scat/Piss/centipedes crawling out of orifices etc)

AMONG OTHER DELIGHTS TO COME, OH YES!

Just had a signed Melancholie der Engel delivered signed by Marian Dora, I've got a copy of The Green Elephant being delivered, a few other crazy shits being worked on too like Mu Zane, Orcozo The Embalmer, Niku Daruma etc

I imagine these may challenge for those coveted spots at the top of my list. I'll update the thread as they're received/watched!

Dard Divorce

This one is a German splatter-fest so I expected semi-good things. The director was new to me, Olaf Ittenbach, though looking into him more he seems to have done a few films I wasn't aware of.

The acting is poor but what I had been promised was a European splatter fest, so I expected lot even with the poor acting. The version I have is in English but with German subtitles. This one was somewhat of a slow burning surprise for me, personally. I almost knew what to expect but went in blind...

The acting was poor throughout but that's not the selling point with films like this. It's the gore and special effects, and boy does this pack a punch! So, twenty minutes in and we've got a story about a guy divorcing his wife but wanting access to his kids. The guy supposedly dies. Terrible acting, made worse by the fact it's done in English rather than German. If you can make it past this though, as I did, you're treated to some of the most graphic acts of violence I've seen so far on my journey. The scenes are VERY graphic, including a body dismemberment in a bathtub as the lead protagonist is naked and hacking the body parts from the torso as blood splatters his body.

Ill point out one scene in particular that had me viewing like "What the fuck!" as it happened and that was an attack with a spade. This scene is pretty fucking brutal, even for me as a fan of this shit, only let down slightly by the fact a hand is hacked off at the wrist with the spade and it bounces off the floor. It made what was an otherwise gruesome act slightly unbelievable. The whole thing is brutal. I loved it. That scene alone places this highly on my list. It was unforgettable. Following the spade attack, the victims guts are torn out in a fit of rage then thrown back in/on the victims face. The attacker makes some cheesy as fuck quip I forget off hand afterward, but I laughed out loud and had to pause it there before moving on.

I can't stress how brutal the spade scene was. It literally had me like "What the FUCK!" At the screen and I checked the DVD rating as it had only said it was a 15. I was right. It was a 15, unbelievably. Sure, the acting was pretty bad at times but I put that down to them trying to speak in English rather than German. The special effects on this were good, though, really fucking good. I loved it. After reading up on the director afterwards, I've since purchased another 3-4 by him and am chasing a few others.

Would I recommend this to you guys? Possibly not as the acting isn't that great, but it IS worth sticking around for the gore. I'm not really a gorehound but I really enjoyed the violent scenes in this. The 15 rating is surprising. Anyone interested should def at least find the movie on YouTube and give it a watch, even if you don't want to spend your hard earned on securing a copy like I did. This one easily gate crashes my top 15-20 with its shocking violent scenes. Don't sleep on this one!

If I'm not missing something, I feel the lead female painted white with the red band over the eyes could be a cult image many will recognise for years to come!

lmaooooooo you mean from Dard Divorce?

its literally either that about the hand or something about "i knew you couldnt stomach it" after the guts are thrown in his face

i literally was in shock at how savage the scene was with the spade, then burst out laughing and had to leave the room when he said the line

try youtube and search "dard divorce shovel/spade scene" or something

i could only find the german uncut scene (whilst at work) but its pretty brutal

Salo is ranked pretty lowly by me. I dunno.

I'm not the biggest fan of Martyrs either though which seems to be heresy to the majority of horror fans.

Diff strokes for diff folks, I guess...
