What is the LGPA?
Netcees.org, publisher and donor of the Lime Green Poetry Association, is an independent organization known as a "rap forum" committed to a secondary presence for poetry in its culture. Since its original database, Netcees 1.0, curated by the inimitable David Lama, text battling has been at the forefront of this website. The main power source, if you will. It falls upon us, the surrogates of the LGPA, to discover and celebrate poetry and to place it before the largest possible audience: ourselves.
The LGPA works to raise poetry to a more visible and influential position in internet culture. Rather than celebrating the Netcees status quo, the Association seeks to be a leader in shaping a receptive climate for poetry by developing new audiences, creating new avenues for delivery, and encouraging new kinds of poetry. In the long term, the Association aspires to alter the perception that poetry is a marginal art, and to make it directly relevant to the NCG public.
Established in 2015 upon receipt of a major gift from moderator Certain, the Lime Green Poetry Association evolved from the Poet's Society on RB, which was founded about a decade ago to support the confluence of poetry competition. The gift from Certain, and, concurrently, Diode, allowed the Association to expand and enhance the presence of poetry on our beloved lime green Netcees and has established an endowment that will encourage the writing of poetry in perpetuity.
Programs of the LGPA
With the new poetry battle league as its flagship initiative, the Association pursues its mission to celebrate and share the best poetry with the largest audiences through a family of programs.
The Text Battler Conversion Program
As the myth states, most battlers could never last in the topical or poetry world. This observation is false, considering how Sn00p did in the current topical tournament, as well as how Destroyer and Bags did in the past as well, taking on mainstay honchos and holding their own. For every battler who tries out the LGPA for longer than a period of five weeks, they will be added to the TBCP Pension Fund, a not-for-profit organization that will donate 5 cents per year to their respective retirement funds.
OVERSIGHT AND GOVERNANCE
The LGPA is a 501(c)(3) organization. Read more about the LGPA's financial information by contacting the IRS.
We adhere to a strict set of policies within the Association to ensure that we conduct our business legally and ethically. Learn more about these policies by contacting NCPD authorities.
GIVING TO THE ASSOCIATION
The Lime Green Poetry Association is a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations to the Association are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by NC law. We welcome unrestricted contributions to support our poetry programming. Checks may be made to: Diode's boat. Private message him for the address to his private sea harbor.
