Prove that you are capable of thought

In this thread post your discoveries. Not things you learned from others...or from books..or google.

But things you have discovered just from thinking.

I been thinking about how easily history can be rewritten and people just accept it and move on. Especially how people can try to envision the past with the new agenda-oriented eyes that they have adopted.

Take a song like "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix, in this current climate that song would probably be banned as promoting violence towards women.

I also would not be surprised if old episodes of the Dukes of Hazard aren't digitally remastered to change the image on the roof of the car to something more culturally accepted across the spectrum.

Freedom of expression is clearly under fire and yet people still refuse to believe that we are heading towards a government similar to a communist one.

Just being honest guys.....blacks hands are just as dirty in slavery as whites.

Fair enough? Did you know that the first slave owner was a freed indentured servant? Did you know that blacks owned a far greater percentage of slaves than whites....even in the south?

Oh and blacks sold their own people into slavery....and they still do in Africa even today.

So let's not talk about slavery like it is just white against black.

Real talk.

I've figured out through thought a reason for some difficulty in relationships. we all tend to think that we are correct in our perspectives. what we need to realize is the fact that we don't know everything. I don't know everything. You don't know everything. so, if we can approach each other with this simple understanding, conflict is less likely to occur.

A window open to how you view things.

My bad i challenged your post lol.

I was being sincere in my questions. iF flying that flag doesnt mean a history of lynching, discrimination, hatred, and this idea that whites are superior to all other races and some how spics and niggers and just animals. This is my view pf that flag or atleast what ive been taught/seen/heard about the confederate flag. Maybe im ignorant in that thought. But Instead furthering the ignorance why not explain your side of it? Let me know why im wrong and why you feel like your right, you know like a conversation goes. Instead of getting a cheap lol?

But hey murica!! Amaryte?

Bro, I feel ya and everything, trust.... but that simply aint how you came at me tho. If you woulda said what you just said above and did that from jump street, we'd have gotten to this point sooner.

And I mean this point... Fuck that flag. It don't mean shit to me, I don't care if people fly it or if they don't. Maybe you missed my point, but yo I don't think the car on The Dukes of Hazard meant anything racist, they simply named the car after General Lee. I'm guessing that means that just using the flag to reference a historical figure doesn't mean that you're about the hatred and lynching that some people associate it with. You follow?

To be real, a few words to people still living in a past that they never lived in, how about considering the present first? Yo, like none of us here ever been through slavery...we never owned slaves or been slaves but we bitching about a confederate flag? forreal?

go look at some of the middle eastern children scorched by Obama's drone strikes and see how quickly you feel like banning the American Flag as well as the Nobel Peace Prize as symbols of hate and suffering.

All this shit is about how you look at things, having a confederate flag isn't going to bring slavery back. I don't care if people collect Nazi flags, it was part of history. Shit means different things to different folks, but I ain't never been through slavery and I don't know anybody who can tell me about it.

Exactly.

It's scary yet liberating in a way to know that, at the end of the day, nothing really matters.

Even this thought is pointless and has probably been thought millions of times.

We are a basic species who just happen to be surrounded by other more basic species, this creates the illusion we are enlightened, when in reality we are barely out of the dirt.

Objective
06-25-2015, 07:13 PM
My neighbor killed himself a couple weeks ago. There's 6 apartments in the building I'm living in. Just talked to a woman in her 60's today about different things among giving a condolence letter and flowers to his family. She doesn't have a TV and have just regained her brain after having struggled with Borreliosis for several years. She entered suicidal depression as a part of the disease (is out of it now), this guy killed himself and I'm somewhat struggling back'n'forth with my own shit.

I realized there's several types of ways to understand suicidal tendencies, the human psyche and depression. Well, I always knew that, but when it hit me earlier today it was like I got a deeper understanding of the mental psyche when it comes to dealing with depression and our mentality as a whole and not just knowing there's gaps there because of logic alone. Lately I've thought a lot about it, some guy that was interviewed said (paraphrasing) ''I've never been depressed, I got 2 types of water coming out of my sink; hot and cold. I got the privilege to choose that and that's reason enough for me to stay happy.'' Motherfucking word to that guy!
I can't control my depression, I can't control or understand why I'm even depressed at this point. Fuck, I just got a girl some months ago who is the most positive and understanding spirit I've ever met, my friend started a business he pulled me into two months ago that got all the potential in the world with the connects we have, I have literally NO personal economic set backs and I'm about to smoke a J and play a game because I can CHOOSE when to work tomorrow as long as what I planned for work gets done. And I got hot and cold water in the fucking sink, I mean, what the actual fuck?

I am ungrateful by definition, I don't understanding my situation. I am sorry to have failed you Veritas, but I can tell you that I am NOT capable of thought other than outward understanding and the environment that I'm in. I am not capable of thoughts because I fail the most important aspect when it comes to defining what really matters when it comes down to it. Does this make me qualify for a certain level of being capable of thought in itself? Fuck if I know. Is it a paradox perhaps? Fuck it, everything is relative and my brother is an oxymoron.

Witty
06-25-2015, 07:43 PM
Literally nobody knows whether death is final or not.

I do not know whether there is life after death....neither do you...all anyone can say is that there is no discernible proof that an afterlife exists, and therefore no reason to believe it does.

Sorry, I know that was not directed toward me, but I threw in my opinion just cuz I'm bored and stuff.

I while I do believe human beings are capable of thought, it is only one of many states the human mind is capable of, and there are few people who can sustain thought for indefinite periods. We are capable of thought, but we are not always thinking.

Observing natural law, one can deduce that in the ephemeral world nothing ever perishes, it only merely changes appearance. Energy can't be created or destroyed, after all. The flower decays and becomes something else. The water cycle is another prime example of a living substance that morphs to different shapes, and moves consistently into rivers, clouds, and so on, but becomes whole again.
Life is a composite of impulses, and processes that require energetic resources for neurochemical function, take our mitochondria for example. A foreign substrate that has co-inhabited our bodies, and is fueling our drives.
This mitochondria, a foreign "entity", has latched itself into the human species, therefore affecting our biology, how we process metabolically anything, and so we become environmentally shaped, just like phenotypes affect the genotype sequence. Change is the only constant, change causes change, and this change is also a result of change. As for the cosmos, this phenomenon is seen in the universe constantly expanding, but also in the death of stars and planets, which once gone affect space and time around it elementally. Its elements scatter in explosions. Only thing we have still don't ascertain, in terms of this, is the implosions. Yet, we still have an idea on its effect on a universal scale through mechanisms such as the fabric of space-time. The universal weave that keeps things ever so fluently in place, through the bending of space. The interdependency of matter, light, gravity, and time.

Although, this is a bit different than the Eternal return/ eternal recurrence, which Nietzsche does a fine job expounding on. I won't get into that. I guess I didn't state any original thought here, but it is a folly to believe there is no such thing as original thoughts. Language like a numeric code has infinite combinations, and since our thoughts are built on language, experiences and images, and whatever else in our being. It is ever so implanted in our species for us to be further aware of this thoughts, because even animals also are capable of thinking and feeling cognitively the emotions and all of that. But, the difference is that man makes a correlative breakthrough and association with these thoughts to affect the world around him. Thus, depending on how profound one's thoughts are, one can affect the world, obviously they still need to be fulfilled materially, nevertheless our thoughts are also pointers of a never ending stream of existence and non-existence, and all the myriads shades in between, in and out. The nature of the world is a big factor to life and death, I mean after all that's what science is, the understanding of nature, and its mechanisms. The earth is just one part of nature. But, that's all I have to say.

UnbornBuddha

Cool thread. It's interesting to observe the interactive phase between us humans. Some utilize psychological warfare, others speak more from an experimental or hypothetical situation, others rely on humor to bond, others use their beliefs, others speak from an emotional background, or a more personal level. Their cravings and what not. What is interesting is the intermeshing of all of this and more, and how it comes to affect us ever so subtly, as well as superficially and deeply.
