Beginning of this year I got a great promotion which came with a 25% salary increase. So I put some money aside for the last few months, and me and some friends took two weeks off work and went to Thailand. Spent 4 days in Bangkok, 4 days in Chiang Mai, 4 days in Koh Samui, and then flew back into Bangkok for one last night before flying home. Easily the most incredible experience of my life.

And then when I came back to work, my direct manager had been fired, and I walked in to an offer letter in my inbox.

Good year so far.

I've been to something like 20 different countries. Thailand is the best IMO. Has almost everything you could want in a holiday destination.

Some of them were definitely tough to tell. We went to a cabaret show in Chiang Mai, and were all pretty shocked by a few.

I would definitely recommend going. It's also cheap in Thailand and dope as fuck. I spent about $2500 for the whole trip. And that included the $1100 for the round trip flight there, about $400 for flights within Thailand, and maybe $600 on hotels. But we splurged on the hotel for our Koh Samui leg. But I spoke with a handful of people who were traveling all SE Asia (Cambodia, Thailand & Vietnam), and they all said that for as beautiful as Cambodia was, there was still a lot of anti american propaganda, and lots of the country was still a disaster. Phnom Penh in particular. But I do hope to revisit with more time to explore other countries in the area. We're planning on doing India next year.

We almost did. It was at the bottom of our to-do list while we were in Chiang Mai, but it just didn't end up happening.

Where did you go in Thailand? We skipped Phuket cause we were told it was a dirty tourist city, and if we stayed in Bangkok, we really didn't need to stay in Phuket too. So we opted for Koh Samui for the last leg, and it was amazing there. I think I'd like to spend more time in Northern Thailand if I went again.

kannon I'm pretty sure we'll go while we're out here in Korea, flights are nothing. Don't bother with Phnom Penh, just do like a day to see temples in Siem Reap, and spend the rest of your vacation in Sihanoukville/Koh Rong. Shit is so dope, possibly the best vacation I've ever had. We just got back from Bali two weeks ago, also dope.

I've been a few times, it's close to Australia so you can go for like $500 return if you catch a deal. I've been to bangkok, chiang mai, koh samui, koh phangan (you missed the full moon party which is dope), phuket (yes, koh samui is 10x better and I prob wouldn't go back to phuket), pattaya. I'd like to see more of the north and center too but once you hit the beach it's hard to leave.

Yeah, we thought we were gonna be there for the full moon party, but we were like a week off. They just had it last weekend. But it also kinda seemed like a trashy, rapey, college party. So I wasnt mad at missing it.

It's a different vibe to a college party, but yeah I feel too old for it now. Was a fun experience though when I was a little younger.
