TAG TOURNAMENT III

I’m running this shit. This tournament is going to act as the stop-gap between two of the Netcee’s Majors (Summer Classic and Fall Brawl) and determine the best duo on the site. There’s a mix of legitimate tag partners and users who just searched out the best partner they could find when they saw the sign-in topic. It all depends on the participants, but this could turn out to be the most entertaining/interesting tournament on the site. The mix of multiple name play combinations, inter-personals, and high level of competition makes this a breeding ground for the possibility of some of the most creative and quotable punches on the site. The success of this tourney will inflate my ego, so every last one of you motherfuckers better show and come correct. Nik/Bags still hold on to the faint memory of their Tag Title on a version of Netcee’s that doesn’t exist anymore. Orc/Hush teamed up as two Hall Famers trying to sweep the shit. Neigh’s cementing the comeback with Allen Knight who’s killed it on this version of the site. Two Summer Classic Final Four battles in Metts and Strik. Philly trying to regain the streak carrying Meth’s now above-average self on his back for squats. Cash and Knuck teaming up while probably battling in the NBL Finals (ed. Knuck did not make it to the Finals). Karaoke/Mael and Aero/Dominate as the sleepers, facing off in Round 1. And a handful of newer or lower tier users trying to make a name. This shit’ll be Top 5 Dead or Alive of tournaments if everyone shows.

ROUND 1 ODDS

ill nik-A/Bags vs. Storyteller/TheEnd
The lopsided shit. Nik and Bags have been saying this tourney isn’t really necessary as they’re already the Tag Team Champs. They’re both highly-respect battlers in their own right but they’re damn near unbeatable as a team. Use mixed punches well and blend their styles. Storyteller is more on the topical side and I’m not familiar with TheEnd, which kind of speaks for itself. Not impossible, but it’d take a miracle.
NIK BAGS – 90/10
Swerve/sn00p vs. Philly/Meth
The second most interesting match of the first round. Swerve and sn00p have been noticeably less active on Netcees 2.0 but the skill is there. Sn00p just made his return to the site and after a strong presence on the original netceee’s it’ll be interesting to see where he picks up. Philly made a strong run in the SC but lost his first official battle in his entire tenure. Meth’s been elevating. If everyone is at their peak skill I think Philly is the best of the four, but Swerve and sn00p are 2 and 3. This really comes down to who brings it. Meth will because he’s a try-hard.
SWERVE/SNOOP – 55/45
J. Metts/Strikta vs. Witty/Genocide
It’s not just a matter of showing up, but pretty close. Metts just solidified a comeback in the Summer Classic and Strikta did the same. Metts has the history of a thousand textcee sites on his back. Strikta is probably making dog shit casseroles for his aunt. The only thing stopping them in this battle is that both have a penchant for not giving a single fuck about text. Witty just dropped his first battle verse in ages in the BA and while the wording was solid he has to shake the played concepts and statements. Geno can bring it with the punches, but I don’t think it’ll be enough to carry the win if Metts and Strik show.
METTS/STRIKTA – 70/30
Neighbor/Allen Knight vs. Phuck Yew/Rayge
Rayge has bars. Underrated and doesn’t get the credit he deserves, although he made it to the NBL (ed. Finals). Phuck Yew battles more than Gamble and all his aliases but from the few battles I’ve read of his he doesn’t bring the complexity needed to really shock this tournament. Allen has started strong as fuck on this new netcees with one of the best records on the site and has a knack for dropping drop-dead LOTB’s. Neighbor’s starting a comeback and just won a Fight Night. Both seem motivated enough to show and make work. But I fully expect Phuck and Rayge to surprise some voters with a strong showing. Don’t sleep.
NEIGHBOR/ALLEN KNIGHT – 65/35
Orc/Hush vs Franco/leowats
Another lop-sided battle. Hush has been battling the BA lately, showing a renewed interest in battling for the fuck of it. Orc’s dropped a couple verses in the BA as well. They both have the obvious pedigree, and at the top of their talent they’re probably the odds on favorite even over Nik and Bags. The only caveat is sustained interest and showing. This is fucked to say but I haven’t read anything from Franco. Leowats is beefing with Bags, but he’s new and says things so that’s an automatic. He’s been dropping verses in the BA but I don’t think his style lends to our voters well. If everyone shows I don’t think it’s a possible upset. Hopefully Franco/leowats show out and prove me wrong.
ORC/HUSH – 85/15
Aero/Dominate vs. Karaoke/mael-BOTW
The closest matchup of the first round. This is what happens when so many high tier battlers sign up, dope teams eventually will get matched up early on. Although most people think he’s a faggot, I enjoy the fuck out of Aero’s battling style when he drops to potential. He has a light, dropping roflz style with crisp wording when he’s on. Dominate is literally the dividing line between Top Tier and Upper Mid. Sometimes he drops verses that would body even the top vets. He just needs more exposure. Karaoke speaks for himself, hated for the most part but still respected as an opponent which is the highest compliment. I don’t know mael other than battling him, but apparently he’s a respected alias. The most evenly matched battle of the first round, should be highlights.

God of War/Alvin Karpis vs. Shogun Dinero/Lotto Smirk
The last of the three lopsided matches. In making the seeds for the tourney it was basically a three-way coin flip between Nik/Bags, Orc/Hush, and GoW/Karp. Which is impossible because coins only have two sides. But all that says is that GoW/Karp are in a three-way tie for favorites for this tournament. GoW hasn’t battled since he got pink slipped by Aero but he’s HOF for a reason. His wording can slack sometimes but his punches are some of the most directly hard hitting on the site. Karp just won two SC’s in a row. Enough said. Gamble, much to my chagrin, has had some bars lately. But his reputation destroys him, fair or not (Hint; it’s fair). Lotto Smirk is unkown to me. They’ll have to drop their all-time best shit and hope GoW/Karpis drop to the level of competition.

Cashius/Knucklehead vs. Diode/Death
Cash has a truly dope style. Just drops dope wordplay and nameflips for days, and flips them original. At least when he has time or drops to his potential. Knucklehead is Jewish but is good, which is weird. Has is haters, but has the results on this iteration of Netcees. TBH I don’t know Diode but apparently he’s somebody. Death is DLB. I have never read a verse with either so I’m going with the known quality. And because fuck you.

I've been through it 4 times now and I'm still picking up little pieces that make me pee a little. I think personally it's Swerve & Snoop... both are heavily underrated.. Swerve not so much as Snoop.. but definitely both of those cats fly under the radar & don't get the respect they deserve. Both got bars.
