Frank is a boon to this league and I think it's hilarious that he's modding and that it will help productivity. If you care so much about title matches just win another match or two and get back in it, jeez. Set the ego aside for a minute and meditate. Preferably transcendental meditation, or something with an ancient sanskrit mantra. Something like "SAN KALPA" on the out breath which helps you integretate into the fabric of this dynamic cosmos.

Innovator: Given the slow start and relatively new cast of participants. How would you rank this season as far as talent goes.?(to early to tell?)


Lars: I kind of alluded to this in the last question I guess, but I don't want to disrespect those who are involved. Fuck it. There's a certain prestige about facing and potentially beating a 'name'. To know you could compete at their level. There really aren't many established heads in the AOWL currently, and nothing is going to match the first season of AOWL when everything was new and people had something to prove. I'm not going to look back with rose tinted glasses though, competition wasn't that great, it maybe had more numbers - but not talent. Franks season my favourite. An in-form Frank is a monster. Certain too. They were, what we called at RM, the leagues Iron Men. They had endurance to compete week in, week out. There are very few who do that, and even less in this era of text. I think these types of character often get overlooked in the leagues as their records maybe leave them flagging behind the champs at 5 or 6-0, but these staples are what make the leagues and they deserve credit for that. Zygote was one for the league here in recent memory. Copypat even. It is a little early to discuss talent but I'd like to see the se newer guys step up and take the reigns this season. Your Mr. J's, Ullr's, UnbornBuddah, Nigma etc... with the bigger 'names' procrastinating, the opportunities there for one of then to take it and establish themselves. That's not a slight on them either, they're undoubtably talented, but a win here could help solidify their spot with gorillas.

I really like the cypher thread idea, it'll also help me because when I write I tend to write more than less, and I don't really like to throw away what I've already written, so this will help me by using up the material elsewhere.

I like pre-selected topics and I also like choosing your own topic just like the Poetry league. For the latter I cannot say people will not have preconceived verses already written. I myself have never done that, per se, but I have had ideas in my head of a story that I wanted to create, but hadn't. And, when I see a topic that I can put into form the story my human inclination is to go for it, due to interest in the actual topic. I also have seen this is the case with pre-selected topics, where its obvious writers have been brewing a story in their hearts for a while, and once they get the right topic, they go with it. Sometimes, some writers disregard the topic and just write whatever, and I think in those cases it is more likely they might have something up their sleeve for a while. This is the problem with abstract verses, I feel, where writers make the slightest connections with topics just to justify their verses.
For the most part, I like to write something that is completely new because it's more challenging and sharpens my pen. But, from what I've seen most don't do it each and every time. Few do, Certain, Zygote, Vulgar, and others. And by new, I mean something where one had no notions of it whatsoever. This is why choosing the right topics is essential because topics like the holocaust, or whatever else, people already have an opinion, a view, and a direction. And so they are less likely to do something completely foreign.
I am relatively new at this topical thing, less than a year in fact, but I have read a lot of topicals during this time, and I got to say again, very few write something completely out the box every time. And I don't think this is bad, point is I think the choose your own topic thread is a good option.

Lol, yeah I imagine that could be frustrating. I also sometimes think that moderators are not appreciated enough. I mean they are doing this for the love of it and so they should be acknowledged every so often. Competitors too, they are an essential key, but moderators are a bigger key because, without them, it all becomes too uninspiring. In split's case, I felt there was too much blame game going on. Albeit, when a moderator falls off it has to be pointed out, but perhaps we could do it in a way that is less condescending.

I do hope Frank shows, if not it's going to be hilarious.
