so, there's a radio station in my town that plays classic hip hop
pretty much everything from 'the message' to David banner's "like a pimp."
but.... some of the censorship choices have me scratching my head
for example in naughty by nature's OPP, they completely warp the line where he says, "it's another five-letter word rhyming with leanest or meanest." like wtf? cause it rhymes with penis? which isn't a bad word to begin with? I don't fucking get it.
heard biggie's "juicy" today
the motherfuckers just removed the entire line 'smoking on bamboo, sippin on private stock," just completely muted the entire line.
wtf???? nothing about that is profane.
who is in charge of this shit, and what the fuck are they thinking????
Those phrases are suggestive.
All i can think of
Kind of funny tho cuz here
Sometimes i here them censor simple words like that
And then in other songs i clearly here nigga, alot lol

suggestive phrases were like invented to get around censorship though, no?
it seems unfair to censor them
True but think about like this. Most of this music is consumed
By young people. whom most i would of assume are under age.
I know i first heard of hiphop when i was 10. Go back to when u
Where that young and heard lyrics like that. Those are very suggestive
And yes suggestive tones are meant to go around the rule. But that applys to
Us as adults.
You wouldnt talk to a young kid in a suggestive manner like that would u?
Probably not because it's inappropriate. Why should music be held in a different
Standard?(we past the radio tho lol)

when I was underage and listening to hip-hop, I had the DIRTIEST albums ever
2 live crew, NWA, all that shit is worse to me as far as profanity goes than all of today's hip-hop
censorship is bullshit to me, all around, but
this is worse to me. there's no reason to ever censor the word "leanest"
I don't care what it implies or suggests.
it's like convicting people for thinking about killin someone
puravida

have you studied any other examples? or just these specific songs?

the OPP one is the most ridiculous example I've heard

nevermind all that, what we need to establish is where do you live where a radio station that plays classic hip hip classifies Lil Flips and David Banners "like a pimp" song as classic hip hop?
you should get your classic hip hop card G checked on the strength of you even typing out that craziness.

hey, when I want to talk about bullshit that never happens, I'll ask you to post in my thread

But you cant compare censorship of your time to this time.
I mean we in a time where being pc is the cool agenda.
The need for total exceptence for everyone and everything.
Perfect example.
Now people say happy holidays instead of merry Christmas
Wtf?
You feel me , i feel like the people of today are trying to make up
For all the slack the the 80s and 90s had.

nah son but you said David Banners "real gulz get down on the flo, on the flo" joint was classic hiphop that they played.....you typing it solidified your belief that this song is indeed a hiphop classic. SMH. It's clear you can't tell your emcee breeds from your....well MC Breeds

I'm sure the station's definition of "classic" is slightly different from ours
Chyeahhh!!!
09-26-2015, 04:13 PM
oh so now you're sure right. Riddle me this, would you mention the term classic hip hop in the same sentence as say a Whodini "Friends" and Ying Yang Twinz "Get Low" Destro?

it's obvious to anyone with half a brain that I was using it to show chronologically, the latest shit that the station plays since the first track I said was "the message," which is like the first hip hop track ever.
Now, do you have anything to add to the actual conversation?
if not, I suggest you fuck right the fuck off

so in your terms, David Banner's and Lil Flips "like a pimp" is the latest hip hop classic shit, if we're chronologically speaking yes?

if we're chinologically speaking, yes.

then chronologically speaking, if time travel is revealed to the masses and designated for public use, I shall go back 100 year and shoot your mom in the stomach while she is pregnant with you.
your classic hip hop g card has been revoked. You may continue this thread knowing that your knowledge on classic hip hop is anything but knowledge

I've got classic hiphop in my ipod that's like my soundtrack for killing zombies and aliens when the world ends. Your ipod for when the world ends will have classic hip hop like....man shit is unspeakable. Who wants to get eaten by a zombie, blown up, shot, or dying from hellfire from above while listening to Paul Wall?
