Jeff Bagwell is likely to make the mlb hall of fame one day. This disturbs me. Not saying he isn't good, its just that only certain players should make it in. For instance, no one would put Babe Ruth and Jeff Bagwell in the same sentence. Hof should be for the elite of the elite, not very good players. Just my opinion

Jeff Bagwell was the best first baseman in the majors over the span of 1993-2004. He has a career slash line of .297/.408/.540/.948. He won an MVP and finished second for another and third for another. He had elite-tier five-year, three-year and one-year peaks. He rates out as a Hall of Famer by four of the five statistics Baseball-Reference uses. JAWS ranks him as the sixth-greatest first baseman ever.
Bad thread.

Yes anyone who is up for the hof has to be accomplished to even make the ballot, but he is not the elite of the elite. Just my opinion
Under .300 batting average for his career? 1st baseman is the least athletic position on the field of a "stand still" sport to begin with

OK, so we’re kicking Willie McCovey, Eddie Murray, Harmon Killebrew, Orlando Cepeda and Tony Perez out of the Hall and definitely not letting Jim Thome in.

Tony Perez: Perez is already widely acknowledged as a great player but weak Hall of Fame choice. wWAR does nothing to change that. While 50.5 WAR (66.8 wWAR) is a nice total, it is not Hall-worthy.
Orlando Cepeda: Like Perez, Cepeda was certainly a good player. His 46.8 WAR and 61.1 wWAR just doesn't stack up to other Hall-worthy first basemen.
Got this from beyondtheboxscore.com
Does Jeff bagwell have any tournament wins? Was he a topical player or more of a battler?

Lol btw i wanna see Connor vs Pettis
Same. It's possible, though I doubt it would be for the LW belt, which Conor might be more interested in. Not while RDA has it thought. He and Khabib are the worst stylistic match ups for Conor imaginable.

Im saying all the hall of fames have questionable entries. There should only be 2 tiers in a hof: god tier & demi-god tier. Example; Jordan-god tier/ shaq- demi god tier. Babe Ruth- god tier/ roger clemens-demi god tier. But there seems to be like 4 tiers tbh. Would you put Michael Jordan & chris mullin in the same sentence? Hell no. So why should they be in the same hall? Would you compare joe dimaggio & gary carter? Gary carter lol wtf? They should not be enshrined in the same place
There would be no Dream Team without Chris Mullin. Believe that. God tier for white dudes.
I still maintain Certain is Puerto Rican.

not to say if you dont win a title you shouldn't get into the hof, because there are plenty of great players never to win a title such as dan Marino charles Barkley karl malone john Stockton. But if you dont win a title AND you have a career batting average under .300, you shouldn't get in

Baseball is not at all like basketball. Individual players cannot influence games enough to hold against them that they didn't win championships. Barry Bonds, Ted Williams and Ty Cobb never won titles.
