View Full Version : Who wants to know about history?
Outside of American history. This year marks the centenary of Ireland's fight for freedom. I know Americans don't enjoy anything outside of America but if anybody wants to enjoy some Irish history, let me know. Irishmen built America, if we're honest.

For such a small country, Ireland has an incredible history.
Nobody wants to know. Wow, how American of you.

On my life I saw "history " and uh oh and thought.......this wigger in here talm bout the Roman Empire an julias Ceasar I bet my life on it
THERE WERE OTHER PERIODS IN HISTIRY UH OH FOR FUCK SAKEword there were pre marian republc times and before that the roman kingdoms with the eteuscan overlords and post caesar rome with the empire with all the dudes from augustus to trajan and them to even the fall of rome with the visgoths and vandals and huns and franks and everybody
Basically roman history is the only history outside of american that matters because they were the only other legit powerhouse and it could be argued THE only legit powerhouse
People point to the mongols but they werent running shit long. People point to alexander but he was shook of europe so he trounced some arabs big whoop. People talk of cyrus but he just ran arabia know what im saying.
And sure i mean there were great empires in the easy various chinese factions and shit but lets be real. White history is the only history that matters. So much so that we have an entire month where we celebrate black peoples accomplishments to helping the dominance of white society

How the Irish saved civilization is epic.

Just so you guys know we are made learn American history in school. But I mean, should I even get into Irish history? You guys think that we are still attached to Britian. Honestly that is insulting. 800 years of slavery and oppression via ugly horrible teeth having queers and Ireland breaks free but America is busy.

We're taught Irish Culture in school, everyone one of us. It goes something like...."See that small blip on the map, we would destroy them too"

This is a gross misrepresentation.
Us Americans love other shit. Like Ireland. Connor McGregor, potatoes, and molotov cocktails are all dope as shit.

Stick around.......this will increase my efforts
From Guinness to McGregor: The History of Ireland by Orc. I look forward to it.
but forreal, let's talk about history that MATTERS AKA American history.
I'm ashamed, guys. I always get annoyed when Americans don't know that Ireland is not in the UK. Much to my own chagrin, I just today found out that Hawaii is an American state. I always assumed it was it's own country. Forgive my ignorance quaker oats.
no worries, good sir. Hawaii is one of two states that used to be its own country (Texas being the other). became a state officially in 1959. not as uncommon a mistake as you'd think.
though I would be interested to hear an overview of Irish history. I can honestly say I no absolutely nothing about it.

I for one would welcome the explanation of how the "Irish built America."
I for one would welcome the explanation of how the "Irish built America."
That was tongue in cheek. Irish migrants did work for a dollar a day in construction, though. Building American roads, bridges, buildings. They worked on the Empire State building when it was considered the greatest in the world.
In New Orleans, the Irish played a major role in the building of the New Basin Canal. An outbreak of yellow fever meant that workers were dying in large numbers, and as slaves were judged to be too expensive to lose, Irish immigrants who were desperate enough to take on the dangerous and difficult work for $1 a day became the preferred labor. As boatloads of Irish continually arrived, the New Orleans Canal and Banking Company had no trouble replacing the Irish that died by the thousands. By the time the canal opened in 1838, 8,000 Irish laborers had succumbed to cholera and yellow fever. Over the following decade, the canal was enlarged and shell roads were built alongside it. While there are no official records of immigrant deaths, somewhere between 8,000 and 30,000 are believed to have perished in the building of the New Basin Canal, many of whom are buried in unmarked graves in the levee and roadway fill beside the canal.
That's just New Orleans alone.

no doubt the Irish had a hand in building America
as did the Italians, Chinese, Japanese, Native Americans, British, and French
I'm probably leaving a lot of other countries out too
