I kinda hate Get Rich or Die Trying, to be honest. When I was narrowing down my 100, I had it at like 107, but I knew yall would crucify me if I left it off completely haha.

Scarface and ghostface both prolly woulda been higher, but honestly I havent listened to either album in years and don't remember much about either one at this point. If I relistened, I'm sure I'd end up moving them up. I remember really liking especially the Fix when they came out.

Even if u don't like him u can't deny the impact of that album

Of course it belongs in the 100....shit man honestly it belongs in top 10

The Dead Poet

the impact is the only thing it has going for it. I don't think I could make it through two songs before having to cut it off now. Which, to me, isn't the same as other classic that have owned my life (buhloone mindstate, aquimini, & fantastic vol 2). That's just me though.

EDIT - Yes I'm aware none of those are from 2000 on(except fantastic). I'm just saying it hasn't held weight to me over the years....and the albums I mentioned came out way before it and have stood up fine through out time.

I rarely listen to MMLP, but when a random song comes on my itunes, I always dig it. Who Knew came on the other day and I still remembered nearly every lyric. idk, I think it's one of the most obvious classics since 2000, even though I don't connect with it like I did when I was in middle school.

Oh shit, I didn't see Mirror Music on any of the yearly lists I was looking at while compiling this, but I remember that album came out like 04-05, right when I moved out to NY, and I used to play that shit non stop. Should probably be on my list, word.

SHIT. Did I leave Slum Village's Detroit Deli off too? That album must have come out around the same time as Wordsworth. I remember copping them around the same time. And Lil Wayne's first Carter album...

I feel you, honestly. At the time of its release, I felt like MMLP was trying to push the envelope for pushing the envelope's sake. Listening back now, I can kind of appreciate it more for what it is, and there is a handful of undeniably dope joints on there (just not The Real Slim Shady).

Definitely.
Minstrel Show is a bonafide classic...as well as The Listening.

I liked The Listening more just because it felt more organic but the polished feel of The Minstrel Show is just as good.

...actually, that dead prez may have gotten bumped.

And just know that I actively left Jedi Mind Tricks off. Vinnie Paz is garbage.

But i dont think id put any jedi mind tricks albums on a top 100. Maybe their first one but that was the 90s right? When jus allah actually rapped instead of saying 32 short statements that rhyme in every verse lol

Years ago, Nighthawks by Cage & Camu Tao kind of changed the way I look at rap, widened my scope beyond traditional shit.

And I don't even like Cage solo (other than a couple songs), but the album is really cool.
(concept album about some crooked cops) A little bit contrived? Maybe. But original and dope.

Yeah it's loosely based on an old Sly Stallone film Nighthawks from 1981.

I was more drawn to the beats&rhymes than the fact that it's a concept album. Go figure.
