you do know

that

you just typed the words

with no context

as to how you

think we say them

vs

how they are

"supposed"

to be pronounced?

so every american

just reads them how we

say them

and we get nothing

from this shitty

I feel like every style of pronunciation has something that's retarded.

like Brits saying the name "Paula" and adding R's to that shit.

like it's pronounced like PARLOR.

I agree x100 on this. But yeah, it like you said... "some yanks".

Most of us hate fools who talk like that, it's not very common.

I also dislike when ppl say HUNDRED like it's HUNTERED.

or on those commercials where they say DOT COM and pronounce it like DOT CALM.

OK, sooo yeah, Americans do say shit retarded.

speaking as a yank here I can say I've never heard ruff, around where i live.
but as far as creek, and crick. i can say both; i'm ambidextrous, on those.

Batty

Does anybody here legit say AXE in place of ASK?

a LOT of people near me do. I do not.

Batty
05-02-2016, 11:47 AM
Yeah, same here.

I just wonder why people don't work harder to condition themselves not to say it?

I know some folks that will be in a professional setting and they are clearly trying to make themselves sound presentable and then they drop axes like a retired lumberjack.

At that point, they might as well say SUP NIGGAS instead of GREETINGS KIND SIRS.

I just noticed this lolololololol

this may be the point at which this thread became ironic.

sraL,
lol. i was gonna use a gay-sounding term like "bi-pronuncial" or "play both sides of the fence", but just went with phonetic ambidexterity.
creek is a retarded word, it's not the region's fault whoeve'rs doing what.
and Lars i'm gonna go ahead &say that most of the way you pronounce stuff is retarded.

Batty,
depends on the verse.
I've probably used it once or twice in my life. But i usually just 'ask'.
I used 'Xspecially' one time. It was a very specific circumstance (and I don't say it in real life), but I loved having that in the arsenal.

I'm very forgiving on pronunccies... but if any1 says "MELK" instead of "MILK", or "COOLD" instead of "COLD", like teenage girls in the 1990s... then we've got problems.

Add to this list:

Aluminium (it's Aloo-MINI-um, not a-LOO-min-um)
Antarctic (ant-ARC-tic, not ant-ARE-tic)
Nuclear (NU-clee-ar, not NUKE-yoo-lar)

I was going to mention Aluminium, but I researched it, and Americans don't include the last 'i', which apparently was the original way to spell it, which explains the pronunciation, the 'i' was added to make it sound more sophisticated and scientific, but the yankydoodles are right on this one.
