was hoping to drop it soon but family birthdays and summer coming is putting my digging budget on hold. i'm like 12 tracks deep tho so sometime before the fall for sure since i'm sure you all are awaiting it with BATED BREATH
but hey here is one i made at the beginning of the month
https://soundcloud.com/jameshalton/4216-rough
some smooth shit. i'm sure the mix is rough. might be quiet too so just bang it. but word.
i was gonna post a different beat that is really dope but i gave it to booth and he's laid some dope verses so you can all sleep on that when he drops it
but word i still DABBLE

i'm glad you're doing work asshole. Because I'm in the slump of all slumps.
uh-oh
04-27-2016, 10:54 PM
haha. i feel you though. i've figured out i don't really have slumps as much as i just don't have music i want to sample.
since i've been buying records its like extra incentive to flip what i buy also
if it makes you feel better the last completed beat i made is dated, 4.3.16.
that "productive" weekend was basically this beat saturday, and a beat that sunday.
this is my folder for my tape
http://i66.tinypic.com/96hpnl.jpg
so its not like i'm a model of productivity lol. granted i made a bunch of bullshit inbetween all of those dates that didnt get exported, and or didnt get put into this folder, but word lol

I'm still envious. I haven't even been turning my gear on man.
I was planning on putting another tape out and then switching to abelton(bought it well over a year ago). But at this rate I may just say fuck it and switch over (learn that mother fucker from the ground up) and just put the beats I had stashed for the tape on SC (maybe about 12-15).

word. you live a life though haha. i just work and maybe a weekend out of the month i'll chill with the homie and mess with a deplorable woman.
but most of the time i'm bored out of my mind, so my choices come down to should i play a video game, watch some bullshit, or fire up the mpc. when i buy a bunch of records i can turn that into a whole weekend of just listening to them and ripping them while getting wasted by myself like a weirdo, just vibing out and fucking around
but its more out of boredom than a desire to
the only time i really WANT to make something is when i'm at work, but i chalk that up to wanting to do anything BUT work.

sounds dope. dig the drum arrangements, they sound clean. When you bring in that change up it sounds muddled, i'm not sure if thats because you filtered the bass and in that horn section is clashing with it or what, but it sounds real muddy on my end.
damn bro
lets just meet at a studio somewhere for a week and make this for real

it's sick. "so muhfuckin soulful man"
I don't fuck with this sound - usually - I'm on some Trap shit, but this got me on some 1990s south central shit. i'll prolly rip this beat and rap over it this week.
uh-oh
05-24-2016, 06:48 AM
i havent made anything new since this thread lol. think i might just put out a 10 track tape fuck it

do it, i've been playing this beat all week. gonna get @ it this weekend.
you fuck with trap?
uh-oh
05-27-2016, 06:26 AM
nah, no trappin just boom bappin
ive tried before but its like starting over, none of the skills i built up translate and i make garbage. i can get booming drums going but beyond that nothing sounds good that gets played over it lol

na i changed my mind tho aint rapping on it.
constructive cristisic: this beat is exactly like "Regulate" with Warren G. really smooth but it's not unique at all. it sounds like A Tribe Called Quest at it's best, or when Mad Lib and Ghostface and all those niggas started resurrecting the 1990s.
maybe you dont want to be the next Kanye
thats like, a compliment if you fancy technique. you achieved some good technique there. any nigga could rap on this beat from NY. its some real NY shit. the arrangement misses a real chorus though, there's nothing you can dance to, no real "DROP"
but if you put this tape on to any nigga, they would not say "OH THIS IS AN UH OH BEAT" you know? like niggas say THIS A METRO BOOMIN beat, or this that DRAKE shit or whatever.
