As the Augustan period unfolds
Myriad unknowns sear through our souls.
Virgil shedding tears in his prose,
The divine comedy’s ethereal tone.
Aegri somnia, the hearing of ghosts
Billions of galaxies in woe.
Laugh. For this is what my morality extols.
Experiencing reality’s fear alone
For I’ve attained immortality years ago.
Watch the puppet show,
The overthrow of Augustus throne.
The rise of presumptuous popes
False prophets of Rome
Turning my devotees with nuggets of gold
Or if they refuse, then dungeons for torture.
A great empire’s self-destructive disorder.
These heretics' savior died at a cross
His rebirth, a supposed sign of a god
But, I’ve been here since time was involved
Since then I’ve had my eyes on you all.
I’ve witnessed your plagues, exuberance and glamour
The logician Aristotle tutoring Alexander
Paving the way for the Persian conqueror.
An army of equestrian commoners
Consulting Delphi oracle astrologers.
In my realm their heavens barely matter
Subterranean patterns only barbarians chatter.

It’s Ζεύs, Jupiter, Greco-Romanian master
The voice that inspired the Trojan-Archean battle.
It was I who called out to Homer,
Awakening him from his literary coma.
Odysseus to the Iliad, fragmentary auras
Of my being. Every word a legendary corpus
Prompting Galen to treat melancholia and mania.
My kingdom on this terra was the Utopia, Arcadia.
Yet, taken from me by the hand of Chaos
My tears covered the land with raindrops
A moment inscribed in the fables of Aesop.
My dwelling is the layer where space stops
Surreal power that transcends Spartan hegemony.
Yet, I’m being banished into darkness and entropy
Christós, the lover, has brought me an army of enemies
The purging of entities with unworldly complexities.
Their idol’s crucifixion serrated my image. Into pagan oblivion.
My minions who still revere me, dream of their pain being lifted.
But, the dream itself is what creation witnessed.
Ζεύs, Jupiter, bringer of light to ailing spirits
By simply glimpsing into the face of sickness.
