Been mildly curious about this

What would the bulk of the gameplay be though

Navigating randomly spawned planets ...scanning for its lifeforms?

I need to check out some vids or something

GAME IS DOPE. You literally just fly around, upgrading your ship and your weapons, exploring and looting. Not much in the way of combat. Not much of a story. But the gameplay is ill. Procedurally generated without feeling extremely reptetive... and based on. their day one patch, Id bet theyre gonna keep updating the gameplay to make it well rounded

I wish theyd made space a little more varied... have some nebulas, some space super highways, larger variety of space station designs and random encounters

tbh this game shouldve been $30....

BUT let me say this-- the groundwork they laid is INCREDIBLE and the next game will be fucking killer. Next GTA series the way theyre gonna dominate sandblx gaming, no lie.

I both agree and disagree, but like Sean said, everyone's experience will be different. I started on a lush planet with very low health risks so I spent about 3 1/2 hours there working on learning alien languages and mining. Left the planet for the first time with over 150,000 credits. If you play the lore, there is lore to be had.

I agree that the aliens are super disappointing. Static and few and far between.

I have not had any of the repetition problems as some, but then again, I have only been to two planets. I am all about the space exploration and grinding aspect of this game (which is hilarious bc i hate it in other games), so this works for me.

Did you choose to work for atlas?

i'm following atlas' guidance since it's effectively the tutorial.

i need to craft my warp drive still. too busy exploring.

i do have the preorder ship with the built in one and extra inventory slot but i've chosen not to activate it so i don't miss any training storylines.

i have also found a crashed ship i can repair on my home planet.

Your verse elicited no emotional response from me. Hence why I went to see Suicide Squad instead of responding. It's built around a fallacy you've invented because you have no weapons of substance readily available.

I named my first planet after my son, by the way.

i literally had to scroll through like 45 steam reviews to find one that was positive, and that one was basically saying its a great game for a team of 15 people. everyone else is hating, seems like alot of peoples pc's struggle and those who don't seem to think its just the same shit over and over just colored different lol

i was about to buy it but now im hesitant. i'll wait till there is a big steam sale

to my understanding its a game where you travel a universe and land on planets and then search the planet for life and minerals to upgrade your shit and move around in space to continue to do this? im not sure about storyline and missions yet. once i play it i can come back with more details

His name is Alfie. He will be the Messiah of Netcees. Just when you think it's dead, he will come...and he will have been trained. I promise he will be the second coming of text battling.

uh-oh
08-14-2016, 10:55 AM
so i played for about 30 minutes.

starts out, it looks like i've crash landed in a crater of sorts on some weird planet with iron rocks everywhere, i open some crates and boxes and find things i can't pronounce. I decide to name this planet "Shabatzlan" and the system "dagodzlan" i proceed to start blasting all the iron rocks with my mining gun to collect iron assuming i need it. i hear a weird buzzing and see some flying sentry robot looking at me. i decide to shoot it to oblivion with my mining laser gun. i kill it. i proceed to continue blasting rocks in my vicinity. out comes three more robot things. seems they are the protectors of iron rocks or some shit. why they want to bother me i dunno. i try to kill them but i get murked. i was alive for a whole 3 minutes. i respawn and collect my iron. now i am wary of these things. they spot me, i run out of mining gun ammo/charge and die again. i have now died twice in the first 10 minutes. so much for a relaxing exploration gaming experience. i havent gone 100 feet from my ship and i'm dead twice.

i decide to listen to this tutorial orb thing and see i need to make things for my ship. i need heridium. i see a marker and decide heading toward it. it is 10 minutes away. I start my journey out of the crater and see a weird world of ball trees and platinum flowers, i collect shit and fill my inventory. recharge my shit. continue to collect shit avoiding sentry robots, find some dinosaur goats and decide to kill them and they give me more iron. i don't need more iron i was hoping for some space meat. i chased one down to try to feed it iron to no avail, i've already sent my iron to the ship. smh. after the longest boringest 10 minutes i get to the heridium. i collect a shitload of it and start my journey back. i find an old abandoned outpost but i can't pick anything up because my inventories full. i decide to blow shit up since i have a blaster gun. this brings sentry robots who kill me again. i decide fuck it let me get back to the ship. it turned into me basically watching a timer go down 1 second at a time. 7:34 till arrival. 7:33. 7:32, etc.

i was sufficiently bored and closed out.

all in all VERY boring. I want cheat codes so i can expand my inventory. i want to collect everything. you can't really. i feel like i'm gonna need all this shit but i don't need it now. etc.

i want to give this a fair shot though, so i will descend back into shabatzlan shortly and try to fix my ship.

i don't even know whats real ANYMORE

so i've been going in today. i wish i knew there was a sprint button. also didnt know how to use my analyser thing. but word

i want to know how to go back to my first solar system/galaxy thing, i'm probably way too deep now but i knew like 10 KORVAX words or something now im in like GEK or something and don't understand anything just saving money to buy the biggest ship i can find. i got lost in a cave for a long time as well.

pretty dope game. just had to get into it enough to know how to do everything, they should really just throw some hints at the beginning like hit shift to sprint, hit f to analyse etc. also they should have some form of quick travel to places you've already been.

but word glad i bought in. shit is pretty dope. i just want to stay on a planet long enough to learn a language and find everything. this atlas thing keeps having me warp farther and farther from where i began and i don't know how to go back

hey by the way guys

just upping this in case someone hasn't bought it but got the idea from this thread

don't. its probably the worst "game" of all time. when you get into it, its like oh hey this is cool. and that lasts a few hours. until you come to the stark realization that everything is the same, there is no point to literally anything and the game is complete and utter SHIT.

i don't blame diode or any of the others, i don't keep up with game news but i guess this was massively hyped and supposed to be really good. but it isn't.

i have 18 hours logged on steam. i have everything upgraded, 48 slot ship, 48 slot exosuit, 24 slot multi tool, found every enhancement etc. completed atlas storyline and all you get is a startover basically with the same equipment. i guess when you make the trip to the center of the universe it just spits you out in a "new" universe. where there is nothing new to do, its just nonsense drivel.

the game blows. 60 wasted

I've heard it's an amazing feat considering it's an indie game while simultaneously being a game where it's obvious they bit over more than they could chew in terms of actual work needed to further polish the game into something truly amazing.

I feel bad for the dev and the fact that I probably won't buy it. Hopefully they'll earn enough to pay for adjustments/updates to NMS so it can be enough for a definite success and what it led out to be.

I want to buy it so bad but know that I probably shouldn't and will wait hoping for some crazy update that spiked the sales and ratings in the right direction.
