Since everyone signed in, give me and Witty a Spotlight battle and the winner only gets into the actual tournament if there's a double no-show in the first round.

The winner or loser?
That seems like a punishment for winning lol Unless I'm just confused.

It's like a reserve battle, Witty. Loser gets nothing. Winner might get into the real bracket but not necessarily.

This seems like a no win situation to me. There is no real advantage to winning as your odds of getting a place in the tourney are the same, but if you lose, you lose the chance. The winner doesn't really get anything.
It will make both people really want to win though, even though there is nothing to be gained because the consequence of losing sucks so much, which I'm sure will make for a great battle.
I'm down.
I feel like I just had a debate with myself in a single post, at the start of the post I thought "what's the point tho?" then gradually I realised it would be a really good battle so let's do it.

Witty, there are three options for you in this discussion:
1. Beat me in the reserve battle. If there is a double no-show in Round 1 of the tournament, you will then get a spot in Round 2.
2. Lose to me in the reserve battle. You will then not be in the tournament.
3. Refuse to participate in the reserve battle. You will then not be in the tournament.

If you win, there's a good chance but no guarantee of you getting in the tournament
Double no shows are not preventable and relatively common
Let's say winner has a 60% chance of making 2nd round?

I have already agreed to the battle twice lol
Someone pick a topic for these two. I'm at work.
