so my draft was yesterday, this year my league is only a 10 man, but it was 100 an entry. i finished second and 3rd the past two years, and went RB heavy, with miserable luck, between adrian peterson, and leveon bell respectively, pretty much every back would let me down. last year i was able to grab jordan howard and jay ajayi which helped immensely.

I'm not happy with my backs. At all. I picked 3rd, david johnson, and le'veon bell gone immediately. took brown. so being 3rd i didn't pick again until the 8th pick of the second, and hopkins was there, so i had to take him, people were already reaching for RB's, and i didn't want to take one that early who didn't deserve it. My next pick gurley was still there so i just said fuck it and bit the bullet. hoping for the best but the rams are garbage and i know im gonna regret it. basically every RB was gone by my next pick, i was gonna grab zeke or mcafferey but they were both gone, so i went with cook. i bought the FSU hype from him. hoping it translates to the NFL and murray and mckinnon don't leach his carries. im not too hopeful though having had to use vikings backs the past couple years. they're a miserable offense. allen robinson was still there and that was a no brainer to me. having him in the flex bodied any RB options still available. i was gonna try for gronk/olsen/kelce but they were all gone by then so word robinson.

everyone else sorta fell into place

i got high hopes for gillislee in NE. same with doug martin when he comes off suspension. i bought the hard knocks hype he looked fresh from what i seen and that offense should be clicking this year. corey coleman is kinda my sleeper, he's kizers favorite target and looked good in preseason. i don't like moncrief but where i got him i felt i had to. rivers is basically there for ryans bye and im dropping him. ebron i took cuz there was no one else worthy really and i keep waiting on him to beast but he won't. like charles clay.

word to the luck thing. i wouldn't worry to much about the questionable status until saturdayish

and tight ends i mean outside of gronk/kelce/olsen are basically streamable.

second tier is jordan reed (almost if not arguably first tier) but word dudes like jimmy graham, tyler eifert etc. but really even them are interchangable.

when i took two tight ends it seemed logical in my head but now i'm realizing i survived just picking one up week to week before lol.

ive done the same with qb's. cutler could snap down in miami, i actually like him there. he's got talent a good o-line and rb so its his job to fuck up.

but if cutler is shit for a little while their will always be someone to make up points

the only thing holding him back, is 1, the new offensive line. they're gonna take a couple games to gel and give him proper time back there for them to be 100 percent as a unit

and 2, the new weapons at his disposal, woodhead is pretty much plug and play, he doesn't need to develop chemistry with him

but maclin he needs to be more familiar with, and boyle/watson at TE. he's kind of stepping into a new offense. so while he knows the playbook, its the same offense from last season

he doesnt have the benefit of 6-8 weeks of practice reps with his new team mates and lineups basically

so he's gonna play it safe i'm sure

that said i wouldn't use him for fantasy obviously. hes too hit and miss. he can spaz and throw a few td's but then go stretches of only 1 or 0 td's. espescially this year, where we seem to be going back to winning style football. grind em out with a steady rushing attack, and playing solid defense.

flacco's lone td last week, (he was 9/17, and didn't complete a single pass in the second half) but word his lone TD came from a short crossing pattern that went 50 yards because the bengals D fucked up.

which leads me to my next point. the bengals d was unimpressive. granted they were playing without there soul (v. burfict) and pacman was missing as well. but word. they have a favorable matchup against houston

the only problem is their o-line, which struggled to keep dalton upright. houstons pass rush is much fiercer on paper. if they consistently get to dalton and fuck up the bengals offense, that defense will be on the field alot more, leading to more opportunities to get ground down by a terrible texans offense lmao.

so basically the bengals D can go either way

Im learning not to tinker as much.

For example, Sammy Watkins puts up shit numbers for two games, so I say hey, im gonna put him on my bench, and he puts up 100+ yards and 2 tds against SF in week 3. I immediately put him back in my lineup, and he shits the bed against Dallas.

Benched Kelvin Benjamin this week, and he drops 104 yards.

Conversely, I had Gillislee in the first few weeks when he did well, and swapped him for Blount this week, and Blount put up 156 yards.

what killed me in draftkings is i thought i would be CLEVER and use crowell and powell, since the browns and jets were playing eachother, i figured it would be a grind em out shit fest in which they would both do ok. and that saved me salary for big name wr's and such

safe to say i failed miserably. i put up 90. on draftkings lmao. for perspective, the worst paid finishing position put up like 160 or some shit basically double.

Last year though i deposited probably 500 throughout the entire year, and withdrew probably 700. So like 200 profit but between 17 weeks its nothing to write home about.

You can definitely make money though if you play smart.

Dont play the million dollar 1st place one. Dont play any of these types really. Where its multiple entry, 200,000 plus people playing, and the top 45 thousand win at least their money back.

Its a trap the odds arent with you. Thats what i did this weekend. Its 20 to enter, kiss that money goodbye. You need literally everyone to score at least 20 points to win 30 bucks (so basically 10 bucks)

You can make money if you play it smart tho, just enter 50/50 contests. It aint as sexy because lets say you get in a 20 dollar one. How many people play dont matter, whether its 10 or 100 or whatever. Everyone puts in 20, and the entire top half wins 36 bucks. So if your in 50th place you win 16 bucks on top of your 20.

So if you deposit 100 bucks, id do 5 of those contests. Not just 1, 100 dollar one, you can enter the same lineup but you have better chances to hit the top 50 the more you are in. So if you dont crack top 50 you only lose 20 in that one, instead of 100. And if you crack top 50 in two others, you made your 20 back and some.

So thats the way to do it.

So while you dont get the sexy payouts they advertise, 1 million/100000/10000, even 1000, you can keep playing with the same money and stacking it.

Just dont give in and play any big contests
