How does the O-Line affect wide receivers?
Please elaborate because that doesn't make any sense.
O Line mostly protects QB and opens holes for TB's and RB's (Including the FB)
But what are they doing for the receiver?
A receiver runs routes... There aren't O-Linemen in front of them after the route is ran and they receive the ball...
A TE is basically the Oline's END who's primary job is to block then run short posts, curls or flats.
O Line has no impact on the receivers, sorry buddy.
Have you ever played football?
Ultimately they are all a major factor to the success of a team, yes.
But I was mostly targeting the importance of the O-LINE and their jobs.
And their job has nothing to do with receivers and mostly to do with protecting the QB by not allowing the DLine and MLB's and short ILB's inside of the back field.
Lead blockers jobs are to protect against weak side blitzes and what not or assist with opening trap holes in the A,B,C gaps which are know as the 2,4,6 - sweep 8 on the right side and the 1,3,5, sweep 7 on the left side.

The O-Line helps out by giving the WR ample time to run effective routes for the QB to connect with.
Thats protecting the QB, no? As I've been saying all along lol...
Aside from protecting the QB - which gives him TIME - I guess they help receivers but ultimately receivers have to run their routes and shake the defense secondary with speed, wit and talent - TOO MUCH TIME gives the defense the advantage in most cases - which is why you tend to see a snap and less then 5 seconds pass thrown... TO keep the safeties on their toes.

nonsense
the ball comes out quick to avoid the pass rush. secondaries break down with time, receivers can break off routes and etc.
but word the ball comes out quick because its designed too, you coach don't you? you should know these things.

Yes, I do coach.
And general rule of thumb for my line men is 3 seconds. Hold the line for a minimum of 3 seconds. We shoot for 7.
But at least 3 on the rush plays. Gives the QB time to get the snap off and hand it off to either my 2, 3, or 4 back.

Without an offensive line wide recievers wouldn't be able to effectively run their routes. Routes are directions that a wide reciever runs. If a quarterback doesn't have the time to allow wide recievers to run in different directions, the wide reciever would therefore be ineffective. A wide reciever needs an offensive line.

i guess it could be different with youth football though, as far as the qb's getting time. play designs ain't crazy, and it ain't like qb's are looking off receivers and baiting safeties lol. but word in professional football the more time a qb has the better, because the secondary has a better chance of failing, be it man/zone whatever.
its alot of why a great pass rush can prop up a mediocre secondary, and vice versa, a great secondary helps the pass rush. but yea in youth football i guess with time a qb could stare his receiver(s) down and they could get picked easier with their goofy lobs
coaching o-line in youth football has to be the most difficult task. i was fb/LB all through midget, but in middle school i played TE for the 8th grade squad (while in 7th) and on the 7th grade team they had me at G. o-line was the fucking worst. also our teams were terrible though so it didn't help. but word, back then we were coached to basically keep hands inside and try and get under their shoulder pads and drive em into em which worked great in theory, but i was wack, and didn't want to play o-line in the first place. we just had no size on our 7th grade squad, and i've basically been the same size since 9th grade lol.
but word once i was actually in the 8th grade i was too busy getting high and fingering ho's like a young gentlemen to play anymore.
but the 3 years in midget and one year in middle school was the best times probably. used to just BODY people
long story short, most kids don't want to play o-line in the first place, so they ain't going to really want to learn. there has to be a way to get them into it but yea i dont know. d-line was dope cuz your getting after people, but o-line always felt like a chore

Cowboys are literally the best example in recent years of their whole team (even defense) benefiting from a dominant line. Does no one remember Phil Costa? The 2-3 years that Romo had this dude at center we went 8-8 all 3 years. It wasn't until we reached Smith, Frederick, and Martin 3 out of 4 years till we went 12-4. While QB play killed the 15 season, the O-line was still dominant the second half of the season with McFadden being the #1 back. Dumb ass.

Youth football is MUCH different. We have 1 receiver, 2 tops if I'm calling twins or wide out ride or left - A split end and a 2 back/flanker who lines up in the slot. And yes, coaching offensive linemen is difficult. I always go with fundamentals tho, ensuring all of my linemen know their holes and which way to drive to open holes needed for my backs. This year I had a few pulling plays for my offensive linemen, which turned out well for my wedges.
In youth football, when coaching kids from the ages of 8 through 10. All you need is 7 seconds. After that the pocket usually crumbles and the QB roles out or gets sacked. But in those 7 seconds, my wide out flanker or split end knows their rout which AT MOST is 10 yards. The thing with youth football defense is, those 10 yards are tough, because the corners, and safties usually lines up 5 to 10 yards off the line of scrimmage. I know my defense they line up that way. Nose guard in the A gap of the strong side, 1 DT in the B gap, and my DE's outside shoulder of the last man on the O Line, with a Middle LIne backer, 2 outside line backers, one on the right and one on the left 3 yards off the line of scrimmage. My corners are 7 yards off the line of scrimmage with the weak side corners ALWAYS blitzing along with the weak size outside line backer and my safeties 10 yards off the line if scrimmage with my strong safety sovering the weak side line backers zone. So pass plays are a little difficult which is why youth football relies mostly on jets sweeps, buck sweeps and reverses.
Lol @ half the idiots in here not knowing what they are talking about...
Clearly, the O LINE'S MAIN JOB IS TO PROTECT THE QB and open HOLES FOR THE BACKS... Everything else is extra. But their PRIMARY JOB is what I've been saying all along.

Guys guys guys.... You idiots are thinking WAYYYY to in depth. How does an O LINE AFFECT A DEFENSE other then having them on the field as minmimal as possible.
You guys are really idiots and don't know what your talking about.
I am talking about how an O-LINE DIRECTLY AFFECTS other positions.
The WIDE RECEIVERS ONE, yea, I can see that and acknowledge the stronger the O LINE IS - the better pass protections and more time for receivers to run effective routes but now how does the O LINE DIRECTLY AFFECT A DEFENSE? Other then ball control and keeping them off the field?
DIRECTLY AFFECTS, once again.
It's fucking obvious - ALL 11 PLAYERS ON THE FIELD ARE KEY ELEMENTS. I'm referring to how a position directly affects the next position.
DIRECT.
Morons.

In my second year of midget football we only lost twice. Once in the season and once in the super bowl. Fucking vikings had our number.
We ran a pretty simple defense. We had 5 down linemen though i think. I just remember we only had 2 lbs one of which was me.
Theyd kill us with simple off tackle runs. Their oline was dope, if it came to my side i would destroy the FB in the hole, the problem was the holes would be so huge it didnt matter.
Our RB was a G and carried us. The type to run a sweep to the right, have nothing there but be fast enough to just say fuck it turn around and run all the way to the left lol.
The vikings would swarm him though. Just a better coached team altogether, where as we were the faggots letting everyone play.
