Default Topical Battle: MMx vs. Balthowsai
We each had to describe a painting; this was/ still is the tie-breaking third round in our battle over @ Mentalz…I liked these verses, so I thought I’d share…

MMx:

saw this painting at the museum of modern art in san francisco, and it just moved me...

... border to border, eighteen and a quarter, by fifteen inches flat
the forefront presents fantasy while ordered reality's in the back
the green man stands alone, travelling on his train of thought
seems his mind's been left behind by what the pain has brought
he faces not the uncertain, but knowing what tomorrow brings
time's misaligned his spine to a corkscrew built with sorrow's rings
he's borrowing time, down inside, he knows he can't change a thing
he lives in a world so ignorant, it's become a shame to think...
he's facing dreams of what life could be, the sky is heigtening
but he's forced to hide behind, the sight of what he might just be
life it seems is an illusion, he thinks we oughtn't be servin
cuz knowledge chips his shoulders as each thought is a burden
he's honestly searching for the meaning, his dreams brought a fall
of sanity, now he's vanshing as he projects his dreams on a wall
the call of the wild lives in the scenic views of the fallacies
severely vexed, the stressed thinker plays peek-a-boo with reality
the duality of life is divided by a weathered rope of severed hope
common sense doesn't exist cuz the common good never showed
the lettered slopes of scripture plaster eyelids for sense of god
but are ripped apart effectively the given men of thought
he repents a lot, and looking at his body, he over-thinks as well
but he chooses thoughts of work as opposed to dreams of hell
he's seen the well, he knows the water is tainted, and....
honor's evasive when children are led astray before their father's been painted
i faced it, knew something was wrong, an infirmity i sought
only i realized there was none, he suffered from purity of thought.

peace,
MMx

Balthowsai:

Donve VERY quickly; I have a surgery tomorrow…and I have to go to work in like an hour(yeah, I'm working the day before surgery...it's nothing serious, though)…this is a 40 minute keystyle on a painting I picked randomly…I don't know if my interpretation is right, or if it even makes sense, but that's for you guys to decide…the painting is by Paul Gaugin, a Post-Impressionist Frenchman who lived from 1848-1903…anyways, enough stalling…

Sin. Slay. Swift.
The portrait speaks, of a tortured freak, marked with significance,
while the sordid scene redeems feelings of the artists ambivalence/
Cause it's valid, to view him in both the roles of Christ and Satan,
as he painted this, unsure of where the road of life would take him/
And so adjacent to his hand, now rests the serpent from the fable,
who must face and understand the good projected by his halo/
Adjusting labels, since he integrates his love with wicked hate,
till reaching past the point of madness due to mystic twists of fate/
Specific tints relate, to his mental state through massive tragedies,
though he may be addressing his life, as well as Man's duality/
The fallacy is that he's well behaved, in that, his abstract's ample,
proving that the fact remains cause still he'd love to grab an apple/
As a sample, of the natures in his likeness, are reflected,
both the good and evil sides combine to show they are connected/
Through suggestions that the lesson is, his works are all muddled,
he wants us to believe what's good is bad through his reversal of color/
Versatile under, irony's presence, and, vitally pleasant,
he's kind of pathetic, looking at himself with eyes of repentance/
Instead of minding his blessings, his world exists in brightened hues,
meanwhile, he's still an angel with a halo and the right to choose/
The type of rules he wants to follow, and how to better himself,
for his perception of the world around him's the dilemma itself/

Respects to MMx, keep repping...
Peace.

I remember reading this, reposted somewhere, (possibly UPN?) and thinking Balth absolutely killed it.

MMx is no slouch either though. This was a great battle. One for the ages.
