Welcome to the B-Boys Half Year Text Awards for 2007. Some cool stuff has gone down this year, mainly to do with the WBL. Some dope battles happened when it was in it’s hot period and a lot of that has been remembered for these awards. Dope heads shone, new heads rose and some dudes faltered. We’ll start off with the best text battler category, as that’s the most important and prestigious award.

Best Text Battler

Notable Mentions:

Richard Corey (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/richard-corey/)
ill nik-A (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/ill-nik-a/)

5. Justify (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/justify/)

4. John Hensley (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/j.%20hens/)

3. Butler (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/butler/)

2. Fracture (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/fracture/)

Winner

1. kungfugrip (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/grip/)

A worthy winner, but this was probably based more on his achievements across the net, as opposed to how well he actually did at B-Boys. While he dropped some nice verses for the WBL and some very nice verses for the LMS, he didn’t dominate for any long period of time. He’s definitely been the best text head of 2007 though, so even though this is probably a net wide thing, kung definitely deserves this award.

Most Improved Text Battler

Notable Mentions:

Eddie (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/eddie/)
J. SutherLand (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/J.%20SutherLand/)
Define (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/define/)
KempoMRK (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/KempoMRK/)
The Gunslinger (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/the%20gunslinger/)
Hood Heffner (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/hood%20heffner/)

5. Kapernikus (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/kapernikus/)

4. Sureloc Holmes (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/sureloc%20holmes/)

3. Mount (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/mount/)

2. Area51 (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/area51/)

Winner

1. V.Vega (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/v.vega/)

To me, this was a no-brainer. Vega was in the CBA at the start of 2007, before he improved into a solid head with little time. The elevation was just amazing really. He went from a low range CBA head to someone who is being chosen as a future legend. Area51 came close, but Vega just elevated so much in such a quick time that he definitely deserves this award.

1. John Hensley vs Butler (http://forums.b-boys.com/f22/weekly-battle-league-championship-match-1-john-hensley-10-2-vs-2-butler-3-0-a-6543/)

I was getting a bit worried at first, as for a while Loot vs Dooley was actually topping this list. How in the fuck? I had no idea either, as I thought that battle was shitty. Luckily a few votes came in and it catapulted Hensley vs Butler to the top, which is a definite worthy winner, and I’d agree with it being the best battle of the year. It’s one of those battles that you have to read a few times to fully appreciate the dopeness of it, as there were a lot of subtle lines in both verses. Butler pulled through ‘n took the win, but damn, Hensley’s verse was dope also. Ill battle. Only Frac-Hensley coulda came close to topping this.

Most Likely To Emerge As Dope In The 2nd Half of 2007

Notable Mentions:

Criteria (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/criteria/)
Justify (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/justify/)
The Gunslinger (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/guns/)
V.Vega (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/v.vega/)

5. Area51 (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/area51/)

4. SMG (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/SMG)

3. ill nik-A (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/ill%20nik-a/)

2. Mercules (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/mercules/)

Winner

1. properHops (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/properhops/)

A very good choice, especially seeing as how he’s practically won Last Man Standing 5. At the start of 07, Hops was a good head who would get beaten by all the top heads. Now he’s really made himself into an elite head. I see the second half of 2007 as really being his time. If he can stay consistent then he will definitely dominate the second half of 2007.

Who Fell Off Hardest In The First Half of 2007

5. Butler (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/butler/)

4. Ex-Kal (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/ex-kal/)

3. Headless Verseman (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/headless%20verseman/)

2. Defcon_5 (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/defcon_5/)

Winner

1. Deon (http://forums.b-boys.com/members/deon/)

Deon’s cool, but I’d have to agree with this. Dude’s always been a top of the range head, but lately he seems to have been dropping some fairly lacklustre verses. I’m not sure what it is, but he’s not dropping like he used to. Maybe lack of motivation? Whatever he’s having trouble with he’ll probably sort out in the second half of 2007.

So those are the awards. Some shocks and some obvious winners. All round, pretty cool stuff. The voting was absolutely awful though to be honest. I only received about 5 votes in total, shit completely sucked. Next time these are done at the end of the year I hope for the participation to be way better, otherwise there’ll be some strange results, like there were with a couple of categories this time around. Ah well, overall it’s cool to do awards. Enjoy. Peace.
