WBL March Event – Return of the Legends
Ohhh this turned out ill. Peeps predicted no-shows! Dude’s predicted disappointment! Guys predicted sadness! But noooo, it turned out ILL. Most of the battles went ahead, only 3 battles didn’t happen in an event where it looked like a lot may not happen. So major props to everyone for showing up, well done on that. As a result, the league has absolutely surged in popularity, and the WBL has become a much better league because of it. Props to Fracture for the idea, he said the WBL had been lacking the past couple of weeks, ‘n he said this was a good way to get things happenin again. And well, it worked perfectly. So yea, props to Frac. Let’s peep the battle reviews.

WBL Championship Match - Mercules vs Resin M-I-C
Cool battle, ended up only being 14 lines apiece due to Merc going on holiday. It was still nice though. Resin flawlessed shit though, his verse was real consistent. Merc came cool, but he just couldn’t match up. He had a slant bar that was dope, hit hard ‘n worked well. Asian women bar was tight as well. I thought the resinate bar was also decent. Good lil verse overall. But then Resin dropped. ‘N dayum, his verse was consistent throughout, nothing really missed. Tight verse throughout. Discharge bar was hilarious, hit real hard ‘n was also fresh. Uncool was crazy, worded perfectly as well, nice bar. Time flies was cool. ‘N tear you a new asshole was a harsh diss. Monogamy was tight as well. So yea, real nice verse overall. Resin snatched the title off Merc to become the new, and 5th ever, WBL champion. Props to Resin.
WBL Legends Battle - John Hensley vs Ouch
John Hensley won via no-show. Shame as well, cos Hensley dropped nice. He might have overdone it a bit on the CAPITALISATION, but overall he came cool. Amstel bar was tight, fresh concept ‘n hit hard. Five finger discount was raw, cool bar. ‘N the minds in gear bar was a nice cliché flip and personal. So yea, good verse.
The Raps Murderer vs RapBattles Legend - Fracture vs $pitacular
This was a cool ‘n close battle, but one thing swayed it in my view, ‘n that was freshness. Spits verse was cool, I felt a few bars in it a lot. He had some real nice stuff in there, but the played clichés he used cost him I thought. The raps murderer bar was dope, worded perfectly ‘n it hit hard. Sex punches bar was really funny. ‘N the leaves bar was also worded really nice so it hit hard. Stuff like the lost your touch, good for a laugh, organ donor ‘n eye socket bars are all really played ‘n it brought his verse down. I’m also sure that I’ve seen the piss you off bar used almost exactly the same before, I can’t find evidence though but other peeps thought so to. Frac dropped quite good. His busy work week seemed to hinder his verse, but he still dropped cool. Toe to toe was really nice, hit hard ‘n worked well. Medieval days was funny. ‘N the give you a hand bar hit nicely to me. Close battle, but like I said, I think it came down to freshness, ‘n Frac edged it.
Prowlers Legend vs B-Boys Legend - Storm G vs Mets
Definitely the biggest let down of the event. Well, I guess I thought Storm wouldn’t even show up, so at least he showed. His verse wasn’t good though. You can tell that he rushed it ‘n didn’t really care. I think he was just doing this battle because Fracture asked him to really. Nothing stood out to me in there. Mets is pretty rusty as well it seems. His verse was ok, but it came across as quite bland. The prowlers bar was nice though, I liked that. ‘N the ink bar was pretty cool also. Stuff like the geico bar just seemed wack to me, I’ve seen a bar like that before, ‘n it also was really simple. Ok verse from him overall, waaaay more than enough to get it. ‘N he took it very easily, winning.. 12-0 lol.
The Future of Text vs A Net Vet - Young Philly vs ill nik-A
This turned into a pic battle, ‘n both pics were funny. Philly seems to have contracted downs syndrome since we last saw him, and I can’t help but imagine nik-A saying “aiyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy” when I look at his pic. Cool battle, both came pretty nice. Nik-A posted first ‘n his verse was good. Some funny disses on there. He played on Philly looking like a retarded kid with a drool line that was really dope, hit hard ‘n was mad funny. I thought the upside bar was cool as well. Good verse overall. Philly dropped ‘n he also came correct. Man tits bar was really funny. The roll out bar was hilarious as well. I think he overdid the forehead jokes though ‘n that cost him. Nik-A was more consistent so he got this.
Topical Battle - Monk vs Shaojin
Double no-show. Harsh on Monk though. He typed up his verse, finished it, 60 lines, went to post, the thread was closed, pressed back and his verse was gone. Haha, I couldn’t help but laugh.
RapBattles vs Blunts - Nique vs Wise
Pretty good battle, but I think the amount of lines hurt Wise. Nique seemed to fare quiet well, as she didn’t have all that many weak lines. Quite a few average ones, but some really dope ones. Consistent verse overall. I thought the paper punches bar was tight, it was really creative ‘n fresh. Return of the legends bar was really funny, hit hard ‘n worked well. Wise choice was a simple but perfectly worded bar as well, it hit nicely. So yea, consistent verse overall. Wise had some funny bars, but quite a bit of weak stuff. His closing section fucked him up the most, as it was all worded really corny, like he was stretching for lines. The winded in the drive thru bar was a tight concept, worded strangely, but it was still really funny. Nique was more consistent, ‘n she got it.
Picture Battle - Roger Glocks vs i <3 to scrypt
This battle was average. It wasn’t anything awful, just nothing really stood out to me. Some pretty funny lines, Glocks mask bar was funny ‘n scrypts stunted bar made me laugh. But outside of that I dunno, I didn’t really like much else a lot. Quite a close battle and it was decided by 1 vote, and that 1 vote went to scrypt.
Fat Man vs Mr Atkins - HotDogVendorMan vs Phryme
Decent battle. HotDog’s got his style down, which is pretty much a replica of Resin’s style haha. It’s still cool though. He had a Chuck Atkins bar that was dope ‘n hit hard, worded well also. Wire bar was decent ‘n hit nicely, but seemed sorta simple. Phryme dropped a bit better I thought, the no verse bar was good, tight bar. Catch more heat was funny as well. They went 30 ‘n it turned out ok, they were both quite consistent. But Phryme took this in a close one.
East vs West Battle - Out Writechas vs Mark Blaze
Mark Blaze won via no-show. Blaze had an ok verse, his b-more line was nice ‘n hit hard. He seemed a bit out of his depth though, as quite a few of the disses didn’t really work. Not a bad verse though.
Rising Stars Battle - Te Ora vs J Sutherland
Daayum, upset. Sutherland took this, which is something I never expected. He got promoted to the WBL because of it, so props to him for that. Te Ora came decent, but inconsistent. He had a board bar that was tight, ‘n an illesty bar that was creative ‘n hit nicely. Not a bad verse overall. Sutherland dropped decent. Nothing really stood out to me, but I can see why peeps thought he won. Sutherland took it by a large margin as well, winning 8-3.

I thought Urban coulda done so much more with the pic. The dude looks like the joker out of batman for fuck sake. Yea, his verse was ok, but peeps voted no on him getting the win, and I’d have to agree.
