And what's your top pick?
I thought civil war, but on the ride home I think it might be this now. I just feel like it’s too soon to say the newest one is the best one. I can’t really argue against it though. Just seems like it’s the discovery of a new corner of the marvel universe that is adding to its hype and in a year or two after its not fresh it’ll be looked back on as good but not great.

I just saw this earlier tonight. I think it's hands-down the best Marvel movie.
Marvel makes a lot of mediocre movies with the same exact plot: origin story, a love interest who needs to be saved later, epic fight with villain that involves crashing through buildings.
Panther felt damn-near Shakespearean. Great flick.
Chill Phil

I'm on the fence about it.
I feel like I'll be disappointed to discover it's just another movie behind all the hype. Waiting for it to hit Netflix though.

I'm only stickin with Marvel until they bring the Silver Surfer and Dr. Doom to life. After that I could careless if I never see another Superhero movie again. Well, except for Spawn and maybe Vertigo's Sandman/Lucifer. But other than that the genre is way too watered down and kid friendly to continue to hold my interest.

If so, having a racist complex towards your darker skinned kinfolk makes you one confused papi. I could see if you were like straight Spainard or something (even tho they too have Moorish ancestry). But, judging by your profile pic you definitely got a good dose of Negroid DNA marinating in your bloodstream. I'm flabbergasted. Lol.

Yeah I was skeptical going into it because I was worried everyone me either loved it because they are black and felt liberated or white guilt lol but it is legit top 3 mcu. Best movie this year so far. I feel like a sequel is going to taint this one eventually though.
I wish every mcu movie had this much attention to detail too. That’s a big part of why it was so good. They spent a ton of time studying African culture and making sure they didn’t offend anyone. And they had an entire original soundtrack done by one of the worlds biggest artist.
Nah, not racist lol was trolling.

Yo My best friend is chill phill lol come on man
hollywood does a black superhero movie.
villain is hailed as antihero still spent most of his life as a killdog for white devils.
has some rooted african influence but we're going to make the jabari tribe monkeys that have a simian chant because fuck ya'll.
good aesthetics on the costume i need one of those long-shirts boseman was wearing.
posits africans are closer to nature and their earth mother but when showing the landscape of fictional wakandan capital, the city looks like any other inspid techno-trash from a myriad of other movies because this is the pinnacle of human imagination.
casually call white people colonizers.
white people: we like this because we have black friends.
black people: we represented now and empowered let me pay my hard earned money to marvel to see this again and again!
represent yourself, motherfuckers. lupita's pretty bad though i'd beat.
also yea even if it was the best marvel movie, which it wasn't, their average is terribad.
p.s. anything that talks about birthright concerning a monarchy is subconsciously conditioning you to accept the elite and in so doing lower your 'inherent' stock.

Can't see too many influential people saying "Yo this is awesome this racism, economically disadvantaging minorities is top 3 best things of all time imo"...."But yo, there was this movie and the guy totally beat up some bad guys...and guess what....HE WAS A BLACK!" ..."Good point...let's only racism Mexicans now bros"

i liked the movie, btw. t'challa's dialogue with his father in the ancestral plain lit with a purple-sky, erik killmonger's mirrored scene with his pops where the same sky can only be seen through shitty project windows, and the final dialogue between the two cousins were all dope.
but there are a lot of problems with it, and with the (overwhelmingly) positive reaction from its demograph. no one thinks for themselves anymore it's depressing.

It was sadly only just a movie. But 90% of the population doesn't read or travel enough to formulate an educated perspective on the world. But they do watch television, go to the movies and listen to music. Three forms of media that have historically been used to condition the mind via social engineering. For instance, there is a reason it was once called tv "programing". In any case, showing strong and prominent African Americans on screen. In a positive light. Does have a physiological effect on young and impressionable minds. There is no doubt what Eng said is true. It is a Disney film after all. A company that is at the pinnacle of subversive and subliminal imagery and messaging. However, that is only one side of the coin. Because Black Panther (on a microcosmic level), much like the tenure of former President Obama, may not be perfect, may even have a hidden agenda, but the superficial symbology of what it represent for black and brown people the world over is a powerful thing. Art has long imitated life, but it seems over the last century or so, in many instances, the opposite has been true. Thus saying, the more movies we have like Black Panther the more the world's view of certain subgroups of people will start to change. Of course this argument is independent of economic and political inequalities. I'm just speaking on social perspectives in terms of media influence that can have a real effect on altering stereotypical points of view.

If one wants to change the world he must first start by changing the way that people look at it. Weapons and armies can only do so much. Men can eventually be defeated. Ideas. Well, ideas are a harder thing to extinguish.

Gotta agree with ncgs on Winter Soldier. Bucky was a fucking G in that shit too.
The first Guardians of the galaxy is up there too tho tbh. That shit was what new Star Wars wish it could be in space genre.
to me, it's really a matter of what type of movie you like best. Like, the first 2 thor movies took themselves seriously, but Ragnarok was funny af. But, cottdamn bros, Hulk vs Thor in the arena was childhood dream come true and it was even better than I could dream up.
Winter Soldier was a spy thriller type flick like Jason Bourne or Mission Impossible but better.
I ain't seen Black Panther yet. When I was about to see it, the NAACP was renting entire screening rooms for private viewings and I was like, nah, this has gotten too silly, I will wait.
The only real beef ive seen ppl having with it was women saving the day like the sjws love now and some of the cg looking dated.

I mean the "we don't get involved in anyone's affairs" seemed like a dig at America world police. Then when they concluded they should be getting involved it felt they only said that they shouldn't get involved so they could say they really should I.e they do the right thing.
The deepest bit was that they had to create a fake country so there would be a advanced and wealthy country in Africa. I think life's a bit deeper than the movie the movie just scraped the surface.

When you see little black and brown kids excited to see soem one that looks like them on tv and they aren’t playing a rapper, gang banger, poorr, janitor roll. THAT is what is most important thImg about making movies like these.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news (potentially) but the rumors are that the movie follows this recipe almost exactly.
Tom Hardy has since tried to debunk the rumor but until we see it for ourselves, we won't know.
A lot of people thought there wasn't enough Joker in Suicide Squad and I thought it was way more than I expected to see him considering the source material.
Also as a stand alone movie - Constantine was/is still dope. However, considering I've since read Hellblazer and the new 52 run/Justice League Dark. I cannot accept anyone except Matt Ryan as THE Constantine now.
Onto the actual subject of the thread - Black Panther is definitely top 3. It's still too new to put it on top. I'd say Winter Soldier and Civil War then Black Panther followed by the first Avengers and first Guardians of the Galaxy to round out a top 5.
Still have hope for DC to turn their shared universe around. Maybe Flashpoint or Aquaman will save it.
Also for anyone who hasn't checked it out yet. Syfy's new show Krypton (kind of like a Superman/Man of Steel prequel) was pretty dope so far, and they did Brainiac justice.

Just saw it today. Was better than the typical Marvel film. Still kind of a slog to sit through, like all of them. Michael B. Jordan is usually good but was the least interesting performance. His character was supposed to be different from everyone but I thought it was awkwardly done. Daniel Kaluuya's character was a complete waste non-character who could've been cut from the movie with no loss. Boseman was fine, the main characters in these standalone Marvel films are all milquetoast, cardboard cut outs. He was fine. The leader of the Jabari tribe was funny. Female actors on average were pretty good. The use of Martin Freeman's character as the 'token' white guy was one of the more clever ideas the film had. The messaging and subtext was painted with a broad brush but at least it was trying to say something, which is more than, say, Ant Man or whatever the fuck. The fact that Killmonger's whole ideology and the fact he did win the throne(argument) for a hot minute exists in a Marvel film is pretty cool.
The entirely white crowd in the Fargo theater did not fully appreciate the colonizer remarks.
Anyone looking forward to "Black Lightning"?
Legit serious..

Idk if this was in response to my top 5 (or someone else's) but i didnt list Logan because its not part of the MCU. It'd definitely between #1/2 on a 20th Century Fox Marvel list. (Deadpool was pretty close to perfection so between that and Logan is the #1/#2 spots)
