I couldn't do the exact same beat that KRS used. So I flipped the sample on my own and made it sound southern. It wasn't like I was trying to completely remake the original song, I wanted to freshen it up a bit.

But you hate that "HEY" every time I use it. Lol I gotta find some different ones, but I'm thinking if I finish this record then hopefully I can get in a real studio and see what I could make with professional equipment.

but word when i hear samples like this i just hear these types of drums. im sure some south drums would work i just don't think the execution was correct, you can still dirty up the drums a bit. get some filthy 808s and claps. thedrumbroker puts out a ton of shit along those lines. some cardiak kits etc

its just the soft clap and understated bass drum didn't do it for me but i dug this for what you did

like i like clean southern banging drums too, but its just kind of the sonics of shit if thats the right word has to match. the grimey strings with super clean drums is just offputting to ME. but if you dig it you dig it. there are some dirty distorted (almost) like crunchy 808 kicks and claps that just got a little more on em. even hats that ain't super clean but still in the same vein, all shit made for those quick moving trap style patterns. just not as pristine
