I agreed and handed my resignation in on the Wednesday

the big homie MMLP found me some casual work at his place to help me cover my bills and shit from the following Monday

I started there Monday, on the Tuesday I got a call inviting me to an interview on the Wednesday morning at 11.30am

this afternoon I get a call telling me I got the job

Nah, I disabled the monetisation (luckily) that was another way work was tryna eat rid of me

I love everything about it. I’m more knowledgeable than your casual fan because I actually make movies and understand the behind the scenes stuff you don’t see and know how the effects were pulled off etc so i can speak about them and whether they’re done well or not. It’s way more to me than just what’s seen on screen within the movie, I can appreciate the technical brilliance that goes into it a lot more than your average horror fan looking for jump scares could. Like I said earlier - employers have certain prohibited shit when it comes to the internet and use. Social media's a big thing now for employers. Many have restrictions due to legalities. But you have to be informed and acknowledge these restrictions prior to being hired as in a signed agreement or acknowledgement of the restrictions OR they can't hold it against you. That's why I feel it's something worth looking in to for him.

Depending on his field - they may have had a lot of restrictions regarding social media. I know my employer does which is why I limit my social media to only family members and my friends who I've grown up with and don't engage in political or topics about religion.

I watch/collect a lot of transgressive cinema. I like that it challenges societal norms or morals. It’s edgy. It could be a films title having an explenative in there like Dog Dick. It could be the artwork (there’s a movie where the case is a mold of the directors wifes vagina) or the film itself. Lots of directors won’t kill a child on screen. A lot won’t push the envelope so far as to show a rape scene or an abortion or any kind of aroused penis and so forth. I like the idea of constantly challenging these values. Pushing things that bit further. Challenge people’s perceptions and preconceived ideas. Shock people. Do things that haven’t been done or weren’t imaginable. There’s been transgressive cinema for YEARS that’s constantly changed what is “acceptable”.

A bit of both in all honesty. Met the boss on Wednesday, it’s a female boss to a small family run business. Basically she’s married with one kid already, she’s looking to have baby number two so longer-term shes wanting to go part-week then step away from the business for good and hand over the reigns.

I’ll largely be shadowing her, learning the day to day running and how everything runs from top to bottom then I’ll eventually transition into her role. That’s the long term view she’s got for me, she told me that at the interview stage. I was management at my old job so it’s not a great deal different and has a lot of transferable skills.

I just need to learn their in house procedures and systems they use that I’m not familiar with. It won’t take me long. As well as selling the shit worldwide, the company actually make these bespoke saunas and whatnot and bathroom tiles and shit so I need to learn what they do on that side and why and the different specs on all these models and capabilities and boring shit.

It will take me some time as it’s all alien to me at this point but I’m pretty confident I’ll adapt and change and they seem to think I’ll do well too. I’m from a sales and admin/management background so everything here is stuff I have a proven track record in, just not in that specific market.
