MGK got murdered, obviously.

Em just took SERIOUS shots at Puff... presumably for letting Kelly go at him.

After accusing him of killing Pac that outro had to be sarcasm and shows Em knows there's going to be a fallout from that line.

Pac and Biggie's deaths, and who was involved is the Hip Hop equivalent of the n word.

nah really tho.....is the ADDITIONAL buddens call out being attached to this monster of a track enough to get joe to finally respond?

I honestly think Joe's stalling. I'm not saying Joe can't pen a diss, but going at Eminem over hitting you with a jab for blatantly trashing his music is a little more complex than your average verse, given their history. There's also Royce to consider.

Remy flat out called Joe a scared pussy on camera. He's milking this shit for views. I can't blame him... but I think eventually he responds on record.

He ended it by saying he was just kidding... but fuck if that isn't going to be a hard pill for Puff to swallow without wanting to get back at Em.

It's just bars.

dull boy
09-14-2018, 04:32 PM
If you look at the context it could be construed as, MGK's never putting out a hit just like Puff will never admit to putting out a hit on Pac... because neither is true?

He did say he was playing... but like I said... that's some taboo shit to touch on lol

Em has been incredibly savvy in his release of this new album in a way he hasn't been with many previous albums. His last few albums all did well (Revival less so than others), but failed to take in to recognition the extremely short attention span of modern music fans...so people would talk about it for a day or two and then it's on to the next thing. With this album he has executed and timed things to perfection...dropping the album by surprise, the anticipation of this response, his daily interviews etc and it has meant that this is basically all that has been talked about for 2 weeks. And probably for another week or so too. Dropping that album out of the blue is the best career move Eminem has made in a long time.

lol

There was a time when I knew everyone’s every bar ever. Self professed rap nerd with an obvious favorite.

But Bags was talking about rappers who have clout mentioning Pac’s death the way Em just did. Not who has claimed to be the best.

Wonder if the shit he was eluding to on the Sway interview going too far was this. Have to imagine that the diss dropped the day the finale of the interview airs wasn’t a coincidence.

After listening a few more times and thinking about it there is 3 inconsistencies with Em's response

First off mgk is not a mumble rapper by any means

I get that at one point mgk had a man bun, but doesn't currently and didn't in his video diss

Lastly MGK never said recovery was 4 albums ago so that whole part was a major stretch and it failed

Idk I still say eminem is in the W column right now but I now hope MGK responds and wouldn't be surprised if he mentions the inconsistencies listed above.

Freedom of information and expression is wild. There has been a swell of social consciousness revolution from the 1960s on. Look where we are now. Everyone has their platform. Their opinion is capable of going viral any minute. Millions of fans turned quasi professional critics. Sensationalism gets the clicks. Clicks get the attention. When newspapers had a monopoly on public opinion there was always a ?healthy? distrust. Nightly news posed the same question. Now every major city has it's own news outlet, albeit controlled by a larger corporate agenda. Hip Hop is a microcosm of this. The Source used to control what was 'dope'. XXL. Certain websites. Now things are scattered as fuck. There's a sprawl of 'valid' opinions. The road to credibility went from a journey of self discovery and paying dues, to a sensational comment away. Less is earned in the realm of opinion. Those without credibility, but a desire to be heard, will discredit those with time put in so that they seem equal. We're in this constant battle for credibility. Promoting our image. Not because we want to, necessarily, but because that's the reality of our current social climate.

Shit is a circus, you clowns that are comin' up

That’s why he sells so much, obv. He’s hitting both audiences. Straight out the tube right into your living rooms I came and kids flipped when they knew I was produced by Dre.

Em’s classic rock and Hip Hop, but as an artist he clearly prefers rap lol Shit’s in his roots, tho. It’s all over all his albums. I feel like Eminem Show was his last real attempt at selling as much as possible from a content angle. Everything since has been a passion project. Not saying he’s not wanting to sell lol But I definitely think it’s much lower on the priority list. Dude is richer than I think he could have ever imagined.

I agree with everything you said in this thread except the sales thing....Eminem still cares about sales as much now as ever before imo....that is why revival had all those pop stars on it....but that shit didn't work for him as well as he thought....however he did try to be a lot more "hip-hop" with the newest project with the joyner n Royce features and no pink, ed shereen, Beyonce or Rihanna tracks....and the results musically speaks for its self....however Eminem still used a lot of promotional tactics to simply sell records...

But through out his career I give Eminem props for walking that thin line between mainstream and still aknowledging his hip-hop roots

I guess my whole thing is, ofcourse he HAS to sell records. But st this point in his career he’s aiming to sell records to stay relevant this maintain his status as a great, rather than just selling record for the money. He doesn’t need the money lol so him caring about how how much he sells doesn’t really matter to him imo.

Revival didn’t do great in sales but I don’t see him bitching about that at all, he’s more pissed people thought it was trash feel me

Understood...though Eminem has went on record a few times saying his tracklisting being prereleased hurt his sales n he will not make that mistake again....and i liked a lot of revival...thought. It showed a different more mature Eminem....

Which brings me to another conversation....and I hesitate to do this because I hate to come across as a 'stan'...I am a fan of Eminem, he's probably my 2nd favourite rapper of all time, and imo he's the best rapper of all time....but he's made some bad bad albums along with the great ones...I digress....my thought process is...if you listen to infinite, and to some degree the slim shady LP...early Em had the same propensity to just rhyme and keep rhyming....his rhyming then was nearly as good as it is now...and it's always been great....but there was a switch from MMLP - Relapse (but not including) where he cut back with the constant stream of rhyming....some might say dumbed it down (though it was still dope)...and he went back there with Recovery (which by no coincidence is his biggest selling album since the first three)....are we now seeing Eminem as he has always wanted to be?

I think he just wants to rhyme.

I think he just wants to rhyme.

WHAT A DICK RIDING DEVON SAWA ASS MOTHER FUCKER YOU ARE

I spend more time thinking about the psychology of the human being Marshall Mathers than I should probably admit. He’s admitted he views writing rhymes as crossword puzzles. Anyone who’s written rhymes at a decent skill level for long enough knows what he means. I’m sure it’s a combination of escapism turned habitual and formed into a sense of self. He’s obsessive. A perfectionist. Something else that’s easy for a lot of writers to relate to. Writing is an isolating, self reflective task.

I was watching that Comedians in Cars getting Coffee with Seinfeld and he was shooting the shit with John Oliver at a little cafe. They were talking about how their significant others took some time to understand that nothing they say is what they actually mean. Their brains have been wired to formulate thoughts that end in a laugh and whatever comes before the laugh has no concrete significance to them.

I think rhyming is the same way. I’ve lamented in plenty of verses I’ve posted here about the process of writing. How it’s lost it’s magic because it almost comes down to a paint by numbers sort of deal once you’ve reached a certain point.

I think Em had a major personality split when Proof died. Coinciding with his sobering up. I’ve read him say he had to relearn how to write. In the disenchantment of writing you lose some of the fluidity, I think. You become a sort of rhyming or writing machine, as opposed to a reactionary human laying out his thoughts.

I think Recovery was indeed his post rehab album. Humbled. MMLP2 was littered with more traditional verses. I love that album, but I’m mostly a fan of dope rhymes so it makes sense. On Revival I really think he tried. It’s so dense with wordplay, references and top notch lyricism, but that kind of work has been passed over thousands of times. My Name Is was a gimmick. Marshall was genuine, but playing a role. I think you’re right to a degree. At this point he’s making the music he wants, but I also think he has a sharp focus on providing his fans and Hip Hop as a culture with good songs.

I find guy endlessly fascinating, honestly. Would love to sit and just talk writing and shit with him.

- Truly yours.

Yea. He went a little nuts there. That bit about him being on the beach and connecting spiritually with Kaufman (paraphrasing).

He was so in character Kaufman’s sister and he had a conversation as though she were talking to Kaufman through Jim on some emotional closure shit. That’s intense.

I had a discussion about this exact scene w my friend...........it's insane to think......he literally mastered acting to the point where he transcended reality

That scene was pretty intense. But I think that moment says a lot more about how repressed the emotions that woman was feeling were than anything about Carey's acting ability.

Carey seemed like a guy who heard about method acting and was bored enough with fame to try it. The method was the performance. That movie is pretty dogshit, and his performance is a bit too precious. He went full Shia LeBouf, although hes a lot more talented obviously. He probably had a lot more fun behind the scenes being a dick than he did when the cameras were on. That documentary was great though.

Saw the doc, never bothered to watch the actual film

It’s one thing to play a character it’s another to completely dive to a movie thinking you are that character.

That acne simply put, showcased Carey’s insanity.

Honestly if I was Kaufman’s sister I would be like wtf is this guy doing, he’s not my brother wtf?

Shit was weird. Really weird

He went into the role weird as fuck. I think in the beginning everyone who knew Kaufman was like wtf, but then there’s video of them saying how much like Andy it was... but that’s not the same as having an emotional closure discussion with his sister. I’m betting Carrey in that moment probably felt he’d bitten off more than he could chew, but just swallowed that shit like a champ.

Carrey’s another dude who seems to have transcended the idea of a self. He’s been so many people in the name of entertaining.

Painting was a good move by him. It’s reactionary, almost.
