Nas is an honorable mention despite peaking at his freshman album
If your list doesn’t at least have 3 out of those 6, it’s wrong

1. Nas
2. Ill Bill
3. KRS One
4. Pharaohe Monch
5. Ghostface Killah
Honorary mentions: J-Zone, Kool G Rap, Action Bronson, Heavy D, Supernatural, Biggie, Big L, Pun, MC Shan, DJ Marley Marl, Method Man, Noreaga, Cormega.
These are the ones I've listened to the most and has inspired me the most. I've seen Ill Bill, Pharaohe Monch and Ghostface live. And if my list is wrong I don't want to be right.

Nas only peaked in his first album because the amount of talent that went into those instrumentals.
Dude had every big name producer in NY at the time giving him beats. Can you imagine the beats he turned down?

Nas never stopped having access to good instrumentals, he just stopped picking good shit. Songs like Dr. Knockboot and Big Girl is 100% Nas fault. Also, anything Nas tried to sing on was cringeworthy. Same goes for Jay but his catalog is so enormous and praised that those songs fall by the wayside.

I mean... Both are extremely tone deaf for sure. Lol but it's almost supposed to be comedy mostly. I do like the last track on Black Album tho. First like the last or whatever.
But as far as beats go... Jay has by far had the best taste of the two over the years.
Victor.

No lie, Guilt was actually a really good album. I haven't really peeped much of his other work, but if he put out music consistently on that level, I think he'd be a legit contender.
