word. grindin is all that comes to mind when i think pharrell tho. all the other beats are topnotch, nhe's real technical. but i dunno i wouldnt put him over timbo or bangladesh. but thats personal preference. only timbo is probably better technically/whatever from the keyboard dudes i named, and thats debateable.
pharrell is a beast. like common is a beast. but i dont bump there shit like that. if that makes sense

I bump Clipse a lot. Timbaland definitely is the king of the keyboard/synth beats, though. Don't sleep on Organized Noize.
To me, all time producers, the top tier (in no order) is Kanye West, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre, RZA and Timbaland. That's your top five ever. There's always someone around to hate on Kanye, but he's earned that at this point. He's taken rap production to new levels of depth.
And Timbaland is the king of the single and played a big role in turning rap production into the main form of pop music.
I don't think I have to defend DJ Premier or Dr. Dre or RZA, right? In like 2000, they were the unquestionably top three all time. Now I think you have to add in Kanye and Timbaland, though.

Mannie Fresh produced ENTIRE albums in his hey day. And not just one or 2 but like 20 entire albums and some how have most of those beats different sounds. And have you ever heard "Mind of Mannie Fresh"? That album has some classic production sound on it.
His penacle was definitely Lil Wayne's "Tha Carter" and would have been "Tha Carter 2" but that's when CMB and Mannie had their falling out. On top of that, dudes a legit DJ. He actually hits up some of the clubs out here just to DJ and put on a show!

I'd bet DJ Premier has as many or almost as many full albums to his name. Plus, with the keyboard-heavy, Southern flavor that Manny Fresh made it big on, it's a lot easier than with sample-heavy beats that were more distinctive like what Premier made his name on.
beats is hard to make in general
uhoh know what i mean, mannie was prob one of the most original southern producers there tbh. he didn't make trap shit but southern grinding shit

everyone you named is sample based. except scott storch. but he had what like 3 good beats lol? everyone hypes still dre, which it should be hyped. but all he did was lay the keys. dre mixed it and did drums bass and everything else.
i'd still put manny in my top 25.
my top dudes are
PREMIER OBVIOUSLY
pete rock
dilla (i hate on dude alot but he's prolly top 10. and i only hate cuz he gets so much love lol)
EASY MO BEE
alchemist
i dunno
theres too many sample based dudes. showbiz, lord finesse, BUCKWILD, even just blaze. bink is heavily slept on. kanye is nasty.
i forgot about SWIZZY. he's a keyboard beat dude. not sure if he fucks with keys but i dont think i've ever heard him sample anything.
theres too many producers. i'm forgetting alot
i'd just put manny up so high cuz like others said he was the south basically for awhile. i mean no limit was around, but other than that it was a manny fresh beat basically lol

uh-oh sampling is an art form ... your comparing a painting to a collage, their both art ...
Sampling goes back a long time and has been a part of hip hop since the 80s .. you can make a completely original beat but have to build it around a voice sample ... both arts are hard to do
I'm just saying you can't discredit something that's been around since hip hops rise ... I could see if it started in like 2002 but its not steroids in baseball you can't use an asterisk because a producer samples.. But it is a personal opinion
You put easy mo bee on the list and he sampled

Frank Metts, uh-oh already said he favors guys who sample. DJ Premier made his life off sampling.
And Innovator, what do you mean "first to do it"?
