View Full Version : open mic'ers
not so much for swag and flow or diss type rhymes, but for those with a more poetic tint to their writing, I encourage you to check out:
sixfold.org
they have regular poetry competitions, with money awarded to first, second and third place (up to $1000). It only costs 6 bucks to submit, but you have to vote on a total of 18 poems over the span of a month (three rounds of 6 each, a week of voting per round).
Figured I'd share with you guys.
Vulgar zygote PancakeBrah Certain dead man Lars @everyone else that I can't think of right now.
Oats would u be interested in a poetry league here at nc?
Ran the last league at ria...60% of the people participating
Where from here anyway.
I got rules details and all that jazz.
Any one else interested?
I know all of u fags write poems
lol I used to do that on RB, but nowadays I barely have enough time to write the things I enjoy writing - traditional poetry (IE non OM style of verse) would be third on my list of writing priorities. I'd support it, but probably wouldn't have time to participate tbh.
To be clear, I will be submitting OM style pieces for this competition. Not expecting to do that well tbh, but you never know. Might be good to get enough people writing like this just to expose others to good poetry that sticks to strict rhyme schemes.

poets hate OM type of verses. i posted on a poetry forum once for the fuck of it. they said my verses were one long sentence since it didnt contain periods. blah
also, voting is as simple as assigning numbers from 1-6 with 6 being the best, 1 the worst. You are not obliged to leave comments, though it's nice to do so.
Mike Wrecka I understand, trust me. In my college poetry classes, I started submitting writtens like I do here, simply because I like writing in that style more than the clumsy free verse thats de rigeur across college campuses. I got the same responses. All good though, I'm confident that good writing will prevail in one way or another. Worst case scenario, you get feedback from a bunch of people for 6 bucks.

That would piss me off.
I might do this just so someone says something like that to me.
I've felt like arguing with someone about this sort of thing for a while.
OMs are poetry. they are one in the same

I don't think so. Not only are you a good writer, but most people leave comments. Plus, at least one third of people who enter these are absolutely awful. At worst, I'd say you're paying 6 bucks to get 3s lol.
Don't be scurred, people. I think it'll be fun.

Gonna look into it tomorrow, might give it a shot.
I don't think poetry is my strongest talent but I do enjoy it.

i type most of my open mics in complete sentences. do i win?
wow 6 bucks is steep and pseudo-poets are pretentious but this sounds great.
I was being sarcastic oats lol you know better than that!
I was being facetious, since I said I wouldn't mention you when I mentioned you.
