i write for a website, but my biggest problem is just what to write about.
anything beat related. indepth tutorial type shit, to just theory and practice, to even dissecting shit etc
i need ideas tho, so help me out
is there anything you would want to know about beatmaking, or better, if you make beats or have tried too, and you have a question about a specific process lemme know
i gotta bang an article or two out today

Write about the crossover between instrumental hip hop (a la RJD2, DJ Shadow and some of the new trip-hop) and usable beats. One of the best examples I can come up with is Fantastic Damage, which functions really well (and was released as) both a rap album and an instrumental album.
What does it take to make a beat interesting enough to work without a rapper but still functional for one?
What about something on samples and why they are used more and more

Am I wrong for thinking it seems like they're used less and less?

wordd im gonna roll with what certain is requesting just shed some light on the thought process when making something strictly instrumental as opposed to something a rapper wants to use. and how you can find middle ground and etc
art thats just kind of vague honestly but mostly all of my posts are pretty much about sampling because thats my area of expertise over there, mainly using software too for like the regular beat dudes point of view

my only article up so far is "don't over do it" but i got a couple in limbo, the owner is cool as shit and knows i'm an illiterate hooligan so i submit drafts to him where he cleans up spelling mistakes and makes it all professional. i got one giving tips for diggin online, and another one about creating and customising drumsound to build your own drumkits
i want to do breakdowns and reviews of classic shit too and explain the process that went into making something like that, just music study in general and stuff too
i dunno. once i get a topic i can bang a bunch of shit out its just deciding on something to write about that kills me

a few things that would be mad useful
1) some tips or links on creating drum loops/ patterns for ppl who don't know drums very well... like how to get different sounds or basically make drums sound natural and not like some 13 y.o. did it on FruityLoops
2) some tips or links links like that^^ but for synths/ keyboards
3) how to 'clean up' samples
4) maybe some kinda Beginner Outline for getting used to FL Studio or Reason or whatever... idk like "try doing this first. then when ur comfortable try this" because its not really straightforward or set-up in a intuitive way
5) it'd be MAD cool if u had like a weekly column where u break down a particular beatmaker/ producer's style... like Nujabes, Madlib, DJ Honda, shit like that
just ideas man ill check it out after im done with work

Interesting article.
I personally would be interested in you breaking down specific beats, or diving into the processes and signatures of well known producers and what makes them successful or overrated in your opinion, all backed by technical/beatmaking arguments.

Have you ever sampled classical music? There's so much untapped potential there, and it's all free or cheap as shit.

there is a few i got up on youtube and my main links. bandcamp has the most, like 15-18 beats per tape
been slacking tho. havent made a beat i liked in months
and word cake thats probably what i'm going to do. but just random songs that alot of people probably slept on mixed with classics, and other shit but word
and word split i can touch on all that
except cleaning up samples, i keep em dirtyyyyy. if the quality itself is shitty though there isnt much to be done. like bitrate wise. but word i can teach people the sacriledge of taking crackles and fuzziness out tho i know how im just not a fan of it except in moderation

this is probably my favorite beat tho
https://soundcloud.com/uhohbeats/5-10-13
only because its the last one i've made i was really proud of and got that oh shit i'm nice feeling after making it haha. even if its on some smooth soft shit
its like all the music i listen to hip hop wise is grimey ruggedness but i struggle making that, while the soft smooth shit is second nature tho
that drizzlin rain beat is gully, you charge for em or what?
uh-oh

nah on my bandcamp i got links to each tape
drizzlin rain is on bandcamp in the "rain" tape. in the description of each tape there is a mediafire link to get it free
bandcamp is gay and limits downloads tho so once something reaches 200 it resets to 1 dollar per track so i just got it set to the lowest possible and external links in the descriptions

yea. beattips the forums were poppin a few years back. they had a 50 dollar beatbattle every month, like 30 people dropping just any beat, i was in the top 3 most months and won once. the owner sa'id is mad cool, it was all about teaching and shit and he has that book where he interviews mad dudes and its like a beatmaker bible lol. so now he's hired a few of us on to drop knowledge for the articles and shit for the main website
