what are your sincere career ambitions in music? like, if you could have an ideal career, what would it look like?

be done with battle rap in the next two years or so an make a comfortable living as a performance artist working independently...if I could push 20K units a year an make $7 after distribution cost (since I'm doing my own production an engineering) that'd be $140K minus taxes...add whatever I make doing engineering work on the side an I'd be set...after ten years of solid touring I fall back to just work as a studio owner an do production an engineering for other artists, then when my ears are too old to accurately hear I maybe return to my roots an teach martial arts...

those numbers obviously don't include touring income...I'd like to four a good six to eight months of the year an get to where I can sell out a 500-1,000 person venue anywhere I go...

if I don't make it as a performing artist, I also produce, compose, engineer, an do management...just now getting into concert promotion...I'll finish school with a double major in music tech an music business an a masters in audio engineering...plus, with the masters I can teach at a college...I may even go for my doctorates...but tbh music is my fallback plan as much as it is my main plan...I feel that if u make a fallback plan for another career field then u are accepting the route of not being successful an u have increased the chances of that becoming reality...

u will never try quite so hard to balance on a ledge as u will if there's no safety net underneath...

edit: fun fact, while the % of people who make it in the music industry is less than 10%, the % of people who are successful if they stick with it for a solid ten years is over 80%...

my sense of confidence comes from the fact that not only am I just sure of myself as any man should be but in less than two years I went from never having a live acapella written battle to battling syd vicious, t rex an dizaster in a row an going 2-1 in those battles...add that to the cosignsive I've gotten an while I know I have a lot to work on I also know I'm good at what I do...I don't just battle an make beats, I study music, I analyze the fuck out of battling an engineer for myself an other artists...

my confidence is not a "I'm better than u" type of confidence, it's a "u may very well be great at what u do, but so am I" type of confidence...u can call tourettes a handicap if u want but it hasn't slowed me down much...
