The Writers League Conference/Division Regulations

Here is where the conference, divisional & playoff regulations will be explained. Any further questions can be asked in the chat/beef/predictions thread.

The Writers League is divided into two conferences: the Titanium & Platinum conferences. Each conference has 14 competitors. Of course, as the league grows & gains more competitors, the divisions will expand. In the event that there are an abundance of participants signing in, one more division will be added to each conference. This will not affect week to week battles nor divisions/conferences.

Keep careful watch on your divisional opponents. You will face each member of your division at least one time during the season. Being that it's a 12 week season, every participant will have 4 divisional battles, 4 conference battles & 4 inter-conference battles. The last week of the season will be divisional match ups only.

Divisional match ups are key in your seeding come playoff time. Divisional winners will automatically qualify for the top seeds within your conference. At the moment, we have 3 divisions per conference, which means the winners of those divisions will earn top seeds in their respective conferences.

There are a few key things to keep in mind during your quest to be AOB's first ever Writers League Topical Champion:

To qualify for the playoffs, you must have competed in at least 6 battles during the season. This does not guarantee that you will get a spot. Those who actively participate during the season will benefit come playoff selection time more than those who do not. Your best bet to ensure a spot is to compete in at least 8 battles & have a record above .500 to be safe. This league will be very competitive & winning is everything.

Power Ranking System. Aside from being a title holder throughout the season, at the end of the season, there can only be one overall champion. This is where the power rankings comes in. When it's all said & done, only one will stand atop of the others as the regular season champion. The rankings is based on overall record, points earned & strength of opponents faced. This will have an impact on playoff seeding. I will provide in-depth breakdowns on every competitor when the season nears playoff time, so that you know what to look for & what you may need to do to get in the playoffs.

The playoffs will consist of the top 16 battlers. Each conference will have 8 battlers compete for the ultimate crown. Divisional winners will automatically get the top seeds, while the other spots will be determined by record & ranking.

If you no show any battle(s), be warned- it will have a negative impact on your chances of getting in the playoffs, earning title shots and your ranking. If you will not be able to show for a battle, make sure to SIGN OUT before matches are set for the following week.

Those who choose to sign out during the season will not be penalized. However, keep in mind, the more you participate, the better your chances of getting in the playoffs & getting title shots. You must have at least 8 battles to guarantee a spot in the playoffs. Anything less than that puts you on a tight rope.

No matter if you no show or sign out, you will remain in your respective division/conference & you won't be excluded from the rankings.

When it comes time to post rankings, which will be around week 3-4, I will provide a in-depth breakdown on how it works and what impact it will have.

Enjoy your time in the league. Any questions or suggestions, feel free to ask in the chat/beef/predictions thread.
