Vol 3 and Dynasty are my favs. You probably wouldn't like them that much though. Listening to them when they first got released and just being in that time made the albums that much better.

I remember buying vol 3 and listening to the intro Hova Song and dude was talking about if u like me ur probably tearing the plastic off pop the cd in your player and reading the tracklisting. I was like wtf. He said put your windows down..and I listened. It was winter but it was Jay-Z.

Alright well, that was awesome. I mean, looking at the writing alone, the verses are structured similar to the thought process of a drug user i.e. first verse: he recognizes his issue, second: he swears on giving it up, third: he gives in anyways. I really dug the whole steam of consciousness bit in the intro as well, and how it morphed into the chorus, kinda like the way a doped up man analyzes his life in singular instances but it only strikes with the force of revelation when put all together, and sobers him up. The beat was perfect as well... atmospheric and really almost lurching, like slugs dwindling consciousness, contemplating itself. The song professes a very true image without being preachy about it. Very nice song, I'll have to check out more by atmosphere.

Why does everyone hate aesop rock? I've noticed this hatred for a while now. I've heard skelethon by him, and truthfully didn't like it at all, but i don't hate him like some of you do (split mostly tbh) and it seems like i dunno, at the least you'd appreciate his music, based on the endearment for atmosphere im seeing here, because the lyrical aspect of the music in both acts, strive for similar motives and go about it in similar fashions. Answer would be nice.

aesop is incredibly verbose and tries to sound smart by over complicating things and is abstract to the avant-garde degree...
slug is just real, kinda emo at times, but doesn't over-complicate if anything he does the opposite...
aesop i feel like im reading an encyclopedia of vague references....slug i feel like im reading a cool childrens story.
just my opinion.
aesop is monotone most the time, slug has emotion too
