Where would u see his career here in 2013?

I personally think he would have adapted to the new hip/hop game quite well & become super mainstream.. but still have a gutter mixtape appeal from time to time.

Personally think he'd be the GOAT lyrically too.

Discuss... I'm interested in ur opinions on this.

well..when he was alive he was dope but he was never really mainstream, only with that song with featuring joe cnat remember the name..but yeah every one reailized the talent but it wasnt like he was a biggie in sales..so i dunno if he would made it in this tight jean emo rap we got now...i would love to think he would of made cuz hes in my top 5 all time..but most likely he would faded away...tbh id rather that than here pun put orut a record to please todays type of hiphop..jus my 2cents

He was way too ill lyrically to just fade away imo.

I hear what ur saying tho, it woulda been hard as fuck for him to mesh w/ this tight jean emo rap(as u put it lol)... but I think he woulda ended up putting his own twist on it.

He'd be highly sought after for features on other ppls shit too, I believe.

Def top 5 all time too.

put it this way...he would Busta right now

not knowing where to fit in..jumping from label to label cuz no one will know how you handle his music these days

i mean can you picture pun on a dubstep beat...or even an autotuned trac..id kill myself if my ears ever sent those sounds
to my brain.

although pun had that side of him everyone loved..i mean the dude was never hated..plus like you said he was to lyrical to not
be relevant...like i said hed be busta right now.

whpo would pun feature on his tracks?

kendrick lamar
asop rocky
drake?...fuck that

lol i cant think of any names right now fuck!...

you get the picture lol

I think he'd have alot of oldschool dudes on his shit now for the most part.. he'd be one of the main guys trying to keep real rap alive.

I DEF hear what ur saying tho... & w/ that said I think he'd try to have his own brand of hip/hop @ the same time.

tbh, its a toss up cuz if people like pun where still around i doubt rap would be this gay..

im sure niggas like lil'b and all these trash ass rappers wouldnt be around...plus the game would
so much elevated...

i would personally love to see pun on a track with kendric and andree 3000...with beyonce doing the hook.

produced by premier lol.

The "what if"... smh... it's so sad what rap has become these days.

I don't mind Kendrick so much tho. He's cool for a new guy I guess.

Pun prolly is the GOAT, imo. I think he would of adapted well commercially, but still been that nigga lyrically. Plus he'd still be the illest latino rapper to do it, so the hispanic community alone would keep him relevant no matter what.

I think he would of made his own movement, stayed semi underground, make a few commercial banners here and there and save the rest of the albums for raw shit. Who the fuck knows tho? His weight want going anywhere lol he could die at any time living like that
But yeah. Goat to me as well

I didn't know there was so much Pun love on here, dude deserves to be rated as one of the greatest of all time. He was the dopest rapper of his generation imo and so crazily far ahead of his time with his lyrical ability. He could go line for line with any rapper alive right now, and that's gotta make him at least one of the best ever, if not THE best.

I think pun would be like a Nas success wise, and even development wise. He'd probably would put out like, one album that actually stood up against capitol punishment, but the majority of his work would be alright.

I think the bigger question would be what if Biggie was still alive, not because of skill level or any of that, but because Biggies death sparked Diddys attempt to make mainstream hip hop hits. It was this moment when hip hop went from grit to gold IMO. The goal in Diddys eyes was monetary success in the form of catchy tunes. I don't think Biggie being alive would've magically stopped this transformation, but I do believe it would've been a slower development process for hip hop into the mainstream, meaning that would could've had a different looking hip hop today.

In 2013 he'd have already gone through a much hyped but overall middling mainstream album phase. After that he'd have a couple hit or miss albums straddling the line between mainstream tracks and songs closer to his lyrical roots, being neither here nor there, mild, leaving a blech taste in ones mouth. In 2013, he'd make guest appearances here and there and they'd be dope. Each one would cause a stir for one last great album, there'd be news reports he's in the studio, etc. But nothing would happen. His time was up.
