...
maybe because he's still probably jacking samples

because they are electronic dubstep techno type shit.
bound 2 is my favorite on the whole album.
i'm a fan of real instruments. i'm a fan of sampling from vinyl, and sampling from an era where the whole band recorded playing at the same time in the same room.
the music and everything has more warmth and life to it. and when sampled in hip hop with banging drums put over it, and real basslines from bass guitars is just good music
yeezus isnt good music.
if im drunk and driving around with a car with a crazy sound system and subs i would prefer it over bumping some wutang or something
but if im on my house stereo bumping music i'm going for the soulful grittiness of real hip hop.

I feel what you're saying
I really like 'I'm in it' though
what records this year impressed you, beat wise?

i'm honestly not happy with any modern hip hop production.
just blaze one of my favorites and he's doing gay poppy shit
alchemist is one of my favorites, but he don't use drums half the time.
thats another trend i dislike almost as much as the whole techno shit. it comes off as lazy to me.
you know how many beats i trashed, that are dope beats by todays standards, because i couldnt get drums to go right with it. but i could rhyme to it without drums
putting drums on it is half the battle.
and what makes me sick is people actually argue for the beat not having drums
ITS HIP HOP
you need drums. i want a kick thats gonna blow my speakers. a snare thats gonna crack my mids, and a hihat that is gonna make my ears bleed off beat out the tweeters
its just discouraging.
i can only equate it to country music. back in the day it was a dude and a guitar yo. ACOUSTIC. they would have a steel guitar and maybe a violin. and it was real. soulful. but now country music is pop music. they have electric guitars and rock drumsets. they throw in a steel guitar or a violin and talk about tractors, so people are like yea its country
it aint country
just like yeezus aint hip hop. its techno pop music with a guy rapping over top. if al green put out an album singing about love over death metal you wouldnt call it soul music or r'n'b
dont call yeezus hip hop

the production on Doris is dope

nah i gotta peep it tho. i slept on his shit with prodigy too
ransom's shit with statik selektah had really dope beats on it. which is why i liked it so much. ransom has that joe budden syndrome for me. like its just monotone and easy to get bored. but me being from a beat background i can zone out while he's rapping and still be entertained by the beat

there was only a few tracks i didnt like off that beatwise
i gotta get back on track and check a bunch of shit.
i don't soley like sampled shit. i like keyboard hip hop too, but more like south shit. im just not a fan of the electro techno movement

curious as to uh-oh's opinion on Acid Rap's production
i'll check it now. since i've been sleeping on that dude.
lol this first song. i hate this through and through.had to skip about a minute in.
pusha man is sick. beatwise. im not sold on this dude yet. but word this was dope. beat is solid. got the south drumkits and shit but its still dope that electric piano killin em and all the intrumentations ill. drums drive it perfect. the nanananana's from this chance dude makes me want to kill myself tho. dope beat tho fasho
cocoa butter kisses is dope. i love the breakbeat drums used. and its slower so you gotta pitch the drums lower. this beat is dope. this dude is nice tho i see his appeal. this beat is dope.
juice. meh
lost. beat is sick.
everybodys something. another slow breakbeat. hip hop. this is dope like as a song. i wish he didnt have corny segments tho. bronsons the same way. he'll ruin a song with some funny stupid shit lol. but word this is dope. captures a mood good with dope drums
interlude. meh
favorite song. im stoned and burned out and don't want to do this anymore. gonna keep going. dont like this at all.
nana. dope. that bassline.
smoke again. terrible. off the bat with terrible synth horns. terrible. the 808's are knocking but everything else sucks
acid rain is ill. jake one is a G. solid beat. not overdoing the drums. pushin the vibe. the layers of samples are nasty.
chain smoker. lol wack
everythings good. dope. break beat drums are ill. kinda wack tho. i mean its aight. whoever made it did go off with the arrangement but everything else is just there. its aight
final thoughts
some dope beats. some wack shit. its all well produced. but yeezus is well produced lol.
its all preference

uh-oh, you want to be a producer in 2013, but you only like beats that sound like 1993.
That could be an issue.

Jake One is one of my fav producers after I realized some of the tracks he did
Statik Selektah too
I miss when real hip hop music was made. not on fancy touch screens and newfangled laser mices, but on Windows XP with a factory yellowed keyboard and a monitor that made funky colors when u put magnets on it :/

i make beats as a hobby so its not really an issue. im not trying to be a super producer or anything. i'm a bedroom beatmaker
uh-oh

but everything doesnt need to be 1993
but i like to see elements within it at least. nothing on acid rap sounds like anything made during the golden era

New York mid-1990s rap is my favorite subgenre of music. Illmatic, Ready to Die and Liquid Swords are my three favorite rap albums. But I'm kind of happy, maybe even relieved, that we've moved into new territory.

malachi i want to mentor you
i'm just shitty at it.
i have the screen recorder. my main problem now is communicating because i don't have a mic, so i'll have to like type out what im doing in notepad while the vid is going.
and the vids gonna be at least 30 minutes
so its gonna be long. i probably won't post to youtube i'll just upload it where you can download it and that way you can pause/rewind and all that shit and work alongside what im doing in the vid, doing what im doing
