FOOTBALL BODIES EVERYTHING
i've never seen a statistic this crazy. i wanna see how the college games rank up too. i bet that was the other 15 shows in the top 50 lol

if there were 16 games of anything to determine the outcome of something, other sports would be highly watched as well. it's the novelty of it. but who gets paid the least? football players. Weird, huh?

I agree. Even if they don't give workers off on the Monday after, they should declare the Super Bowl a holiday in itself.

Just keep repeating what I say. You do the same with threads. Well done.
No one was talking about soccer. Uh oh was talking about football. In America. On American television. Against other American sports. You come in to post something about soccer. There are four possible reasons you did this;
1. Trolling
2. Insecurity
3. Hatred for America
4. You're a faggot.
#1 and #3 are the likely answers but don't sleep on #4.

so is there any american sport that is even debateable in terms of competing with the NFL?
i seen veritas posted wwe which is interesting. but they obviously don't do the same numbers. do you think they would if they were in a 16 show format? with ppv's being like playoff games?
i still don't think baseball would hang with only 16 regular season games. MAYBE basketball.
i doubt it tho i feel like those sports are made for a bunch of games

you thought, very very wrong, since its not even mentioned in the list of the 35 most watched events this fall.
literally 34 of the 35 most watched events from august to now, were american football. with the last spot, 35 going to the macys parade
but who knows you might be onto something, i didnt google for that yet. but for all i know, number 36 could be wwe raw, above of some random monday night football games

Basketball is a far far second...I assume thats the closest sport to football IN AMURICA.
Maybe mma? Too soon?

No.
Monday Night Football has been the most-watched series on cable since it moved to ESPN: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/12/26/espns-monday-night-football-cables-most-watched-series-for-eighth-straight-year/224949/
Monday Night Football averages about 10 million viewers to WWE Raw's less than 5 million even when it's not competing with football.
uh-oh
01-08-2014, 06:02 PM
mma has actually been declining in america
the most watched ufc event was the first one on fox, with 5.7 million viewers.
each successive event has got less and less. the last one in december did 2.2 million
the AVERAGE nfl game this year got 17.6 million viewers

i wonder if MNF did better numbers before espn? when it was on regular tv, not cable

01-08-2014, 06:07 PM
Final answer basketball.
the nba finals of last year averaged 17.7 million viewers
which is pretty dope, but thats basically the average nfl regular season game
but basketball is much more accepted worldwide than the NFL, and it being the finals, im sure it was broadcasted in other countries
im not sure if these numbers come only from america, or from the whole world

Much, much better. But back then it also was the only prime-time game of the week, so it was just a bigger deal. Sunday and Thursday games also are part of what cuts into Monday's ratings issue.
uh-oh
01-08-2014, 06:10 PM
to put it in further perspective
the cowboys game on thanksgiving got 31 million viewers lmao
against the raiders. a mediocre team at best, vs a shitty team. GOT 31 MILLION
granted its thanksgiving tho, where all americans do is feast and watch football
BUT STILL
when you look at week 1's game between the 49ers and packers, it got 28 million viewers
NFL DOMINATES MURICA
Certain

Here's perspective: The Thursday night game on NFL Network between the Jaguars and Texans drew more 4.633 million, almost double any other cable show on Dec. 5. That's the Jaguars and the Texans on NFL Network.
the nba finals of last year averaged 17.7 million viewers
which is pretty dope, but thats basically the average nfl regular season game

So adding the world wide veiwing numbers of basketball doesnt apply?
Its still an American sport, but I guess that doesnt matter.
Dam I cant thinl of anything remotely close to the nfl other than basketball.
Kinda of funny its accepted more than football when basketball
Was not liked by the masses when it first popped up.
uh-oh
01-08-2014, 06:20 PM
nah i didnt mean the worldwide viewers dont apply
i just meant those numbers could be bolstered by people outside the US
like the super bowl, a bunch of countries watch that. im sure its the same for the nba finals
i made this thread wondering about in america specifically tho.
and certain that is INSANE
two of the worst teams hands down
ON THE NFL NETWORK
which i don't even have. which most people can't even GET. pretty sure its a directv only channel right?

Nah, it's in the sports-plus package for most cable companies. So you have to pay like $8 a month for that, NBATV, MLB Network, ESPNU and a handful of others.

when i cancelled my sunday ticket that channel was cancelled with it. thought it was part of the package
either way tho, its not basic cable so that eliminates alot of people
like espn is still basic in every package or whatever
