Actually, there might be two or three censored words, but there is no uncensored version. That was a big deal back then because some chains didn't sell uncensored albums.

The one I was thinking of: "If your sis is a (bitch), brother is a jerk, leave 'em both alone and continue with your work."

Ghost1
01-13-2014, 06:02 PM
Nah.

Hes wasting them.

Hes blitzing thru like 5 classics a day

Classics that deserve minimum 12months replay.

I dont envy, young pisspants daunting task at all.

I rip thru albums like that now trynna keep up with new shit and blaze thru shit wothout absorbing it.

It's a shame.

Malachi
01-13-2014, 06:10 PM
but if i did that i would be at like 5 rap albums lol

yeah it does suck tho

bout to go in on this nas discog tho

I am..

Certain
01-13-2014, 06:13 PM
When I was digging through the old stuff, I had a 56K modem that basically made it impossible to download more than one album a day, but I mostly bought CDs (a lot of them used). That forced me to really listen to stuff. You're going too quick to really appreciate things. That's why you don't like Ghostface Killah and GZA. They take time.

Malachi
01-13-2014, 06:15 PM
ok

how about 1 album a day? a week?

this does happen sometimes i remember i listened to ready to die one time and i was like nah

then i came back and i was like yooooooooooooo lol

Certain
01-13-2014, 06:17 PM
Listen to an album at least three times before putting it aside. You can listen to other stuff in between, too, but don't discard classics.

PancakeBrah
01-13-2014, 06:25 PM
You'd be surprised how much you'll still get to even by taking 2-3 days to 'absorb' an album. It just seems like a daunting task if you look it at too far out. Appreciate it.

I'm in the same boat as Bags, just ripping through albums. He hit it right on the head but I'm not going to quote that post. Well done Ghost1

Certain

Nas hasn't had good beats since Illmatic. Too much Trackmasters (Poke & Tone) back then, too much Salaam Remi since about 2000.

Malachi
01-15-2014, 08:32 PM
and why is nas rapping over wack beats

Certain
01-15-2014, 08:33 PM
He's been trying to make a push into a more mainstream audience (like Jay Z) forever. But the same beats that sound good for Jay Z don't work for Nas. He needs the earthier production, the DJ Premier and Large Professor and L.E.S. stuff.

Malachi
01-15-2014, 08:35 PM
is that why some his flows on some tracks, weak as well

Certain

Beat tapes or instrumental versions of albums are just empty beats, boring to listen to usually but good if you want to record over them.

word man when i listen to hip hop i do it through producers. theres only a few rappers who i'll listen to whatever they put out, but from a producer standpoint even if its someone wack i know its a 50/50 on whether i'll keep it or not just cuz i know the beat will be hot

if you liked appollo browns beats peep daily bread by hassaan mackey. its a modernish classic in my opinion. the rapper takes a second to grow on you tho but appollo brown is nasty with it and he compliments it nicely. i didnt like oc's joint with appollo, trophies. there were dope beats but oc didnt hold me

when this comes on shits firrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

T.I. is a guy who went through a lot of different styles. I really like Trap Muzik, King and Paper Trail, but they might as well be by completely different rappers. Paper Trail is his most lyrical, but King is probably the best all-around package. Trap Muzik is for the car, and you can't drive because you're 14.

Boot Camp Clik gets forgotten sometimes. Also listen to Heltah Skeltah's Nocturnal (Sean Price was in Heltah Skeltah under the name Ruck) and Originoo Gunn Clappaz's Da Storm.

You'd also do well to check out some Diggin' in the Crates. Lord Finesse's Funky Technician might be a little too old-school beats-wise for you, but you'll definitely like O.C.'s Word ... Life and Showbiz and AG's Runaway Slave.

i like old lil wayne better than the carter lil wayne. even if the carter lil wayne is more proficient, old lil wayne was still a dirtball teenager from the slums with raw unrefined talent

and when i was listening to him i wasnt aware of how corny and terrible alot of the production was

back in the day you achieved status by doing shows, todya its done by achieving youtube views.
KANE will be remembered forever and had only one good album which was pretty much half garbo, Lyte didn't have lauryns output, but I don't rate artists by the quantity of work they drop rather the effect of the work they create. Lyte is the queen, ask Lauryn yourself... yeah roughneck sucked balls, but so did most of what dropped in that era...
