Quite a read, FYI:

So a few years ago, me and the girls were out late just kicking back and one of the girls decided she wanted to visit her uncles grave, so then we went to the cemetry and parked up outside the gates as it was already closed (no brainer), anyways, we went to see her uncle, and it was a misty night, no exaggeration, there was a full moon out, after my girl had her emotional cry for her uncle we decided to gap it, so the rest of the girls went to back to the cars and I was with my girl - who at this point was crying her eyes out, in my mind was "hurry up yo!" lol so as we were walking back to the cars, I felt like I was being followed, I kept looking back but no one was there, the night became darker and the moon was slowly being covered by the clouds, I quickly pushed my mate to hurry along and as we reached the cars, I still felt this "presence" with me.

So I got home that night, and I had trouble trying to get back to sleep, I felt as though there was this big burden on me, like "something" was literally on my back, it felt disgusting and heavy (spiritally and physically) so I (being spiritual) started rebuking it in Jesus' Name. It was like a spiritual warfare, I kept saying and literally starting shouting "I rebuke you in Jesus' Name!" "now leave!" and with the Grace of God, it left. I felt so much lighter after that, and slept well.

I woke up in the morning and told my mother, firstly she told me off for even going to the cemetry at night, because she believes (being superstious) that that's when the dead become alive, and so one of them had apparently attached itself to me, to "warn me" not to come back there at night ever.

And so, that was the first and last time I visited the cemetry, at night, lol.

I've encountered other supernatural events too, have you?

c.d.m.: You got a serious case on your hands here. Do your psychiatric magic or some shit.

Also immac, that was one hell'uva long sentence. GODDAMN. I felt exhausted just reading through that shit. Your mind done goofed itself on that ghost shit too. I've experienced far more fucked up shit than that when it comes to ''spiritual things'', but I can tell ya right now it's your mind playing tricks on your ass. The atmosphere was there, it was at night, you got into the mood and started questioning things because.. Brains and your mind got to create some logic that you're satisfied with... That's when you start thinking you're hearing shit and feeling a ''presence'', it's just you feeling uneasy and starting to imagine things. Trust me on this.

I've seen ''ghosts'' lady, aint no way I believe that shit tho'. We're talking dead people lying on the floor in the kitchen experiences. Aint no fuckin' joke either. It was frightening for sure, but it was during a rough time about ten years ago. I think I was 14 or 15 or some shit like that. Seen people standing behind me in the mirror at the bathroom etc. It was late at night as well, it's scary, sure.. But that shit aint real. I believe in that stuff for some time myself, but I don't anymore. When you stop thinking about that stuff it dissapears and why do you think that is?
When you talk to spiritual or alternative people that you don't experience it as much they'll probably cook up some; ''You're closing your third eye, you need to open it''-shit and ''spirits will come to you when you're ready for it''. The mind is a powerful tool, don't underestimate it and come to conclusions just because you experienced something freaky. I've talked yo quite a bunch of these people myself, I swear to God 90% of them doing this shit with Ouija boards and Tarot ish legitimately and believes in it are half crazy themselves. But yeah, that culture is pretty positive and filled with hippies so you might actually fit perfectly for that group.

And I aint talking shit about your mother, my mom is into that stuff too. Positive things comes out of it tho', she knows acupuncture and massage stuff. I don't believe in Reiki and healing etc. (alltho' it's relaxing and the smoke they use for Reiki sometimes smells like weed) but yeah.. Acupuncture and back massages are dope as fuck. The rest; Nah.. Aint my cup of tea.

i always felt like my first apartment was haunted. when my daughter was born, we would put her in the crib at night and me and my wife would go outside and bring the baby monitor. we would hear a women speaking in it. not really able to make out what she was saying. id run in and everything would be cool. sometimes at night while i was in the other room , my daughter would laugh and sound like she was playing with someone. one night she was doing that, so i snuck up to the room all slow and quiet. when i got to the door i stopped and tried to listen what was going on, then somebody or something whispered in my ear, Go Away! the weirdest part was i felt the breathe on my ear as they said it. freaked me the fuck out. still don't believe in ghosts oddly enough.

Objective I feel you on that whole thing with my mind messing with me, and I believe that sometimes our thoughts can trigger (spiritual) occurences like that, but what I felt that night, as I was trying to sleep was unexplainable, as in I don't usually feel that way, and I know for myself that something else had taken control over me, physically I was tossing and turning and sweating from this demonic entity, maybe my mind could have played a part, but whatever was hanging onto me from the cemetry was not a good feeling.

My mother on the other hand has heaps of these stories, because she experienced them growing up in Samoa. She comes from a village called Lepea, Apia which is pretty much the capital of Samoa, anyways that village is also called the "ghost-village" which people over there have carried for as long as I can remember. Sounds weird? I know, but they are really traditional folks, and if you’re a native or have blood native then you would know what I'm talking about, because most natives have customs and traditions that they value. Anyways, there's Matai's (chiefs) of the village who walk around at night protecting and warning off foreign people (people who arent familiar of the villages protocols etc) who try to distrupt or cause trouble within the village, only because that there is a Keige Sa ( a female demon spirit that comes in a physical form too) that could give you bad karma or even bring death upon you.
And it's happened, because when my mother was growing up, a guy unfamiliar with that village (Lepea) died from it/her (Keige-Sa). She's actually a jealous demonic entity. It may sound like "Immac, your crazy girl", but unless you go over there and hear the stories from the people themselves, then you would probably second question yourself. But it's different for every country/city I guess.

Hi...

One night i was chilling at my homegirl's house....
To my knowledge, she lived there with her mother, brother and sister...
so we spent the night talking abt various subjects but while we were talking, i kept see a shadowy figure, that looked like a female, run up and down the stairs...
I figured it was her sister playing games with me because i always promised that I would smash her one day...
So me and homegirl kept talking and she tells that her sister moved out of the house...
I told her who was that I saw running up and down the stairs...
She says its the ghost of her dead aunt who died when she was a kid...
I ran the fuck outta of there and havent been there since then...
I have other stories but i'll share them another time...

Bye...

I've personally had 2 experiences with demonic spirits. One was in bed with me. It spooned with me and told me to relax, and said a bunch of comforting shit. But then I was like "I don't know you, I don't recognize your voice, you need to leave." Then it's voice changed to a coworker's voice, ironically a coworker I wanted to bone. So, it freaked me out, and I was like "I know that voice, and I know it doesn't belong to you, you need to leave." That's when it started squeezing me really really tight, and started cursing at me in a way I can barely repeat. It was vile and putrid cursing, called me a faggot and everything. I started physically fighting back, trying to break free of it's squeeze, and then like a solid block of ice turning to mist, it dissipated as I rolled free. I wasn't able to sleep that night, I was terrified, and whenever I was about to fall asleep, I panicked. Sleep is the cousin of death, so in that moment in between being awake and being asleep is when your mind's capacity is enlarged, leaving you open for such events.

The next demon came about 2 weeks later. This one was passive but still terrifying. It didn't talk or touch me. It just stood in the corner next to my door, and had a flute or something held up to it's mouth. It's back was also facing me. It just stood there, not making a sound. And I was just on the furthest side of my bed, looking at it, watching it. After a few minutes I mustered the strength to close my eyes and pray. I managed about 3 seconds with my eyes closed in prayer, so I opened them, and the demon was gone. I prayed all night, and didn't sleep that night either. For about 3 months I wasn't able to sleep until the sun came up, it felt safer. Nut after that I've had no more visits, but I still feel them around every now and again.

Isn't that like a out of body experience or something.. I heard about that and my cousin experienced something similar, it started with her aunty dying, and at the funeral we have this custom where we gift the family of the deceased a big nice laced cloth to cover the coffin, anyways my dipsy cousin kept the laced cloth instead and one night put the laced cloth over her as if she was the coffin - my cousin said she felt as though she was being choked, literally, she couldnt even take the cloth off and as soon as she struggled with all her might, she took the cloth off and the choking stopped.

I'm pretty sure I was visited because my spirit has the potential to be quite an adversary for demons in the afterlife. They were scared of my potential and tried to mount a preemptive strike. Once I shed this physical frame, I'm without a doubt gonna be a super saiyan in the spirit world.

Innovator and Badweather: Sleep paralysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis), it's a thing. Seems like this could explain the experiences. Been there, done that.

What Mike Wrecka is talking about sounds a lot more interesting if what he's saying is true. Here we got more than 1 person experiencing the same thing. Even tho' I do not believe in ''ghosts/spirits'' like the general populace explains/thinks of them, I do believe it might hold some ground. The string theory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory) opens up to question things and see if there isn't something more we don't know about or not that might inflic these experiences of ours. Even though I highly doubt it myself, it's still an interesting subject to talk about.

They say sleep paralysis is spawned by stress, and the accompanying unrest. I looked in to it when I was younger, after hearing other people's stories about it. It usually occurs during mentally strenuous periods in people's lives.

Objective
03-14-2013, 12:12 AM
Innovator: The first time I experienced sleep paralysis I didn't even know what it was, the only thing I knew was that I couldn't control my breathing pattern and I couldn't move an inch. I could look around but nothing else. Dreaming may also occur, but it didn't happen at that time. I have experienced some frightening dreams while being in a sleep paralysis tho'. Once I went into that state while I was sitting in my couch, I was sleepy as fuck. Then suddenly some chick came up behind me, took her arms around me and whispered cute things into my ear. A few moments later a friend of mine was infront of me and literally pushed me hard to the couch, I could feel the force of being pushed to the couch as well. I stood up and kinda fought him a little bit in the corner of the room and went back to the couch.
It was a strange experience, but nothing that can't be explained by how sleep paralysis works. Now, if we remove my friend and leave the chick that whispered into my ear... We got what we could call a ''spiritual experience'', but as we know now, it's nothing but a vague reasoning for something I couldn't explain if I didn't know about sleep paralysis.

Basicly it's a state where you're between falling asleep and being awake. You can dream while being 100% conscious but not able to move (in some intances). Where you start to walk around the room like I did some people would call it ''out of body experience'', but it's nothing else than a dream. The things in bold is also links to wikipedia articles. Click them.

Edit: Badweather: Not always. A friend of mine experienced it once. One of the most down to earth and mentally healthy guys that I know. I lived with him and 2 others for 2 years. He experienced it once. It wasn't during a stressful time either, but that it occurs more often in people that is stressed might be right tho'. (Edit 2: Just read your comment again, ''it usually occurs during'' is different than ''it occurs during'', my bad.)

Innovator: Yeah, sometimes you don't have to see anything etc. Your body is just in a state of sleeping. It's fucked up and frightening the first few times until you learn what it is and chill out and fall asleep again when it happens. It's definately a weird experience wether or not you're ''seeing'' things or not.

That being said, the threads is getting better every minute. Some interesting discussions for a change. I'd also like to say that if I seem to be ''straight forward'', acting like a ''know-it-all'' and/or ''arrogant'' it's simply just me being drawn into the convo. Rub off anything I say. This is how I talk and I look forward to hearing/debating different views. Interesting topic.

Alright, if I correctly concur, It was 3 years ago, around my birthday. I had recently dug out my old Nintendo 64, and decided to go on a nostalgia trip, playing one of what I did consider the best games ever, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. So I dug the Nintendo 64 out of my closet, but couldn't find Ocarina of Time, or any of my games for that matter.

I looked everywhere, but I had no luck whatsoever.
After a few days of searching for the cartridge, I was talking to some of my friends at the nearby park, where we usually went to hang out, and it just so happened that Jeremy, one of my friends, said that he might have a copy of the game. I was really happy to hear this. I was thinking that I might actually have a chance to play my game again, since there was no gaming store in that old town, and the nearest one was about two hours away. On top of that, we really didn't travel that often. I asked him about it, but I was a bit disappointed at what he said. He said that the cartidge was in his bedroom a couple days before, but it had went missing and he really hadn't looked for it. He told me that he would look for it that night, and if he found it, he would drop by my house the next day. I obviously agreed, and couldn't wait for the coming day.

The next day, I heard the doorbell ring about twelve oclock and I ran down stairs, hoping it was Jeremy. My parents weren't home, so I went ahead and looked through the window, and my hopes were correct. He did seem a bit under the weather so to speak when I opened the door; He seemed pretty pale and looked sick. I asked him what was wrong, but he just replied that he couldn't sleep the night before. I could tell there was something worse wrong with him than that, but I just ignored it and took the game from him. "Adam... I don't want you to play the game... Please.." He said, sounding like he was hiding something. I asked why first of all, but got no reply from him, instead, he just walked away, heading towards his house. I was already getting unnerved, but I decided to head back inside and ignore it. It did bother me that it may have been the game that caused whatever was wrong with him, but I contemplated it, and it didn't really make much sense how it would be possible. I figured I should stop worrying about things like that, but now I realize that I should have gone with my gut feeling. I pushed open my bedroom door and made sure my Nintendo 64 was hooked up before plopping the cartridge into my Nintendo 64, anxious to begin playing the wonderful game again. However, it didn't work. I was getting worried, then I remembered to blow out the cartridge, as well as the system to get the game playing. I began to blow out the cartridge when I noticed something. The inside of the cartridge was covered in some black crusty stuff. I really couldn't explain it, but in reality, it didn't bother me that bad. I grabbed a wash-cloth and managed to get rid of the substance, hoping that I didn't damage the game by doing so. I then proceeded to blow out the cartridge, then the console it's self. I was so happy when I flipped on the switch to the old system and the game started, and I was glad to finally play it after all of these years.

The Nintendo logo came up as usual, but here's where it started getting eerie. The sky was an odd, reddish color, and was very badly glitched, and the logo was a bit distorted, and large portions of the logo as a whole were missing. The scenery was also glitched a bit, none of the land around link and Epona had color, it was just a lifeless grey color. Aside from all of that, the "press start" notification showed up fine. I pressed start, convincing myself the whole thing was just a texture glitch, and that I could live with it. I then saw that there was one account saved on the cartridge. The name was really unnerving, especially after the sky glitch. The profile's name was DEAD. I then decided I should delete the account, considering it was probably just some prank cooked up by my friend. I pressed the "Delete" button, to delete the account, but nothing happened, and the same thing occured when I picked the option to make a new account, or copy the DEAD account for that matter. I finally realized that it must be some hacked cartridge or something, but I didn't mind it. I went ahead and opened up the account window against my better judgement. The window showed that he had all of the medallions, max health, etc. He had already beaten the game. Without much other option, I clicked the button to start the game using "DEAD".

It was really weird what happened. The screen faded to black, then relight to find glitched Navi already at Link's bedside to wake him up, as if the game had restarted from the beginning, skipping the intro. Her dialog was normal, other than the fact that she referred to me by my real name, Adam, which was odd because the account was clearly called DEAD.

Oh well, creepy or not, I wanted a new game, the textures damaged or not.... Maybe Jeremy was just trying to be an ass? I never knew him to do anything like this, or know anyone who could, so I didn't really believe that was the case. I remembered that he told me not to play it, and it really bothered me at this point.

I left Link's house only to find something really odd. The forest was completely empty of anything I could interact with, besides the houses, which were still there. The houses all had a door blocking the entrances. There was also no background music playing, not even the crowing and such that would play if it was night. When I approached all of the doors and pressed "A" it said: "..." and wouldn't open. I tried this on all of the houses, but every one of them did the same exact thing. I finally ventured up to the forest exit, which was blocked by the indestructable bolders that you encounter later on in the game. I then checked my inventory to find it filled full of the lens of truth. There was a copy of the item filling each spot in my inventory. I tried activating them, but it just played the "Incorrect Sound" and did nothing. After rechecking everything, I walked to the Great Deku Tree's grotto without much of a choice... but what I found was pretty wierd.

There was no Great Deku Tree, the tree's sapling was also gone. In the center of the grove, where the tree stands, there was a clone of link, except his tunic was completely black, as if leading in an endless void. I approached to find the situation get graver. His complexion was completely white. his eyes were voids, and he was dismembered, only having one arm, and one leg. I didn't know what to do. I ran around it, but it's gaze never left me. I finally talked to it and a text box appeared. "Hello DANIEL... I'm DEAD... I will show you to places beyond this place, would you like that?" After it asked, the answer prompt came up, and said "Yes", but where "No" was supposed to be, there was a glitched text symbol that I couldn't make out. I clicked the glitched symbol multiple times, every time it played the "incorrect" sound. I finally clicked "yes".

The screen then stood still for about 5 seconds, I thought the game crashed, but as I was about to turn off the console, my Link turned void black, then glitched into pixels. Directly after that, the game went to black.

When it relight, I was in the grotto where you first meet Zelda. However, I was more than shocked at what was seeing. Child Zelda was lying down in the center of the grotto, resting on a pool of blood, keeping the Zelda style though. The music playing was that of when you first meet Zelda, but in reverse, and slightly higher in pitch if I remember right. I then checked my inventory again, to find it completely empty besides what looked like Zelda's Note. I equipped it to a C button and then used it, which caused link not to lift it up in the air as usual, but to look as if he was reading it, holding it in front of him. The text box typed out slowly: "T O O L.ATE" The message then dissappeared from my C button, and when I checked my inventory, it wasn't there either. Finally, I approached Zelda, and pressed "A". The text-box then came up and said "..." once again.

The screen then faded to a solid red screen. For a split second, the screen showed DEAD's Link and played a really loud, high pitched screech. It liked to have given me a heart attack. Then, the screen came back up and I was back in the Grotto where you meet Zelda. Now, however, where Zelda was lying, the blood was now a really dark red and a Zelda in the same style as DEAD's Link was standing on top of it. There was also no music playing whatsoever now. I was pretty shocked at this point, I really wanted to get rid of the cartridge, which now seemed like nothing more than a sick joke. I tried doing everything besides going up to the beast. I tried saving and quitting to the main menu, but nothing worked. I found that it traced my every movement, just like DEAD did. I finally talked to it. It said "...You're at the gate. would you like to enter H. E L.L?" It prompted me again with the Yes/No options like earlier, and the No was still screwed up. I didn't stop pressing the No button until finally my controller lost complete control. It chose "Yes" very slowly , without my control. I remember shouting at my TV as the screen faded to black. The next part was horrible.

It stayed at a black screen, but it was still playing audio. I heard Link's startled sound, then I heard something that sounded like the impact of a blunt object on a body, and I heard Link screaming like nothing ever before. I know it wasn't in the game... It was a horrible yelling, that sounded of pure suffering as I kept hearing the beating sound. then finally, the screaming stopped. then a sound that sounded like crying from Link was heard. he kept crying for about 10 seconds. It was disturbing me by far at this point.... It was terrible. Finally, I heard what sounded like the master sword unsheathing. the last thing I heard was Link starting to begin a scream, but stopping suddenly along with a sound that sounded like a sword impaling flesh. I remember I was very well in horror and sadness as my favorite hero... was murdered.

I remember the same audio track that had played in the first grotto with zelda had been playing through the whole scene, and all of a sudden, the music stopped. DEAD link's face popped up out of nowhere and said "I'm DEAD... and now you are too." Then I heard an ear-piercing loud screech that seemed as if it was going to deafen me. My TV went to static as I unhooked my N64. I took the cartridge and threw it down the stairs as hard as I could, wanting to get the thing as far away from me as possible. I remember laying in my bed horrified after turning off my TV. I finally got up to store the console back in it's place, once and for all.

This is what happened overall. I don't know the reasoning of this thing... I got Ocarina of Time 3D for the 3DS this year, and hopefully I will be able to play it with no more horrid content. Going back, Jeremy was nowhere to be found the day after he gave me the cartridge. His parents didn't know where he was either, and he wound up missing entirely. About a month later, I received a letter in the mail from his parent's address, dated exactly a week after he went missing. It talked about how if I hadn't already played the game, I really shoudln't, and he actually explained the cartridge. He apparently lent it to his friend who was supposed to mod it with a gameshark. However, his friend apparently entered an incorrect incriment in the code, and it unlocked something that was locked away and hidden within the cartridge. He told me about something that would happen if you did one thing that I didn't do, but I don't think I'll put it here, just in case it could still trigger what happened to my friend. He apologized that he had forgot about the cartridge, as he never played it after his friend warned him not to. When he found it, he said he wanted to play through it before giving it to me, only to find the DEAD version, and whatever the horrible glitch was. He mentioned something about it doesn't trigger unless what he called the "DEAD Version" was unlocked, which it was apparently. I still don't think it would be a good idea to post it here, as someone may once again unlock the DEAD version of the game. I'm really sorry for anyone who may find this "secret version" or whatever it is... I feel even more pity if you figure out the way to trigger... whatever caused my friend's "illness."

I searched for the cartridge after storing the N64 in what I think will be it's final resting place. I couldn't bear to play another Nintendo 64 game, and on top of that my games were still missing. I still to this day don't know where that cartridge went, we moved from that house right after Christmas that year. I hope you readers out there never find the DEAD Version... furthermore, I hope you never find anything to do with it in any game. I don't know how many cartridges the "Version" as I can barely stand to call it, is programmed in, but nerver try to find it... I beg of you. If you do find it... Don't play the game. I fear for your sanity... and your life if you don't heed this warning. As for me, I'm living a normal life, but the cartridge has been lately haunting me in my dreams... I'm having strange nightmares, and I can't sleep at night. I'm just not sure... and I'm hoping I can get rid of it by posting this story... Goodbye... and may you nerver meet the curse known as DEAD.

I've experienced sleep paralysis before, when I was 19. My eyes were open, couldn't move or talk. The longest 5 seconds of my life. But I didn't feel, hear, or see the presence of anything that night.

Same but I took it as a demonic entity trying to control me.

my best friend from Cleveland's dad is one of the few people that is trained to perform exorcisms. He doesn't talk about them unless he's drunk (ironically drinking became a vice for him after he got ordained to perform them or whatever), and you should hear the few stories he's willing to tell...

The mind is a powerful and complex thing that will probably never be fully understood.

I don't mean to say you're all liars, but I think sometimes people experience their mind doing things they can't deal with logically because they simply don't know what is happening or why, things they don't understand so they automatically connect it with other things they don't understand...such as ghosts, or demons.

Crazy alright. We got a few people here who are into that whole voodoo stuff, even witch doctors, some even consider the witch doctors to be their form of cure for whatever reason. The mind is powerful, to the point it plays tricks on us too lol.

So tell me about this then, my mothers friend right, she can literally "smell death", like I don't know what the smell of death is, only the smell of rotting corpse, anyway, everytime she smells this "smell", someone close to her or someone she knows of dies....coinsedence? I believe not lol I think some people are truly gifted....or cursed.

One of my homeboys use to see "dead people" or "ghosts" whatever you want to call it, and trust me, dude aint mentally sick...there was this one time we were kicking back sharing testimonies and he goes to me, "don't freak out ok Melissa, but I can see a ghost behind you" and I was like "dude wtf lol" so I asked if I can pray for the both of us - which was a good idea cause that "ghost" dissapeared.

My aunty can tell if a girls pregnant even before the girl knows - just by looking at her. Actually a few of the elder ladies can sense this and they have proven to be right too.

Objective
03-15-2013, 08:57 AM
Well, you can be mentally fucked and still work well in this world. Being different in the mental doesn't have to be a problem at all.

As it goes for the woman I'd need to see that lady for myself or be around her when she senses a death or something like that. As it goes for your friend; He's either fucking with you or he actually see things, and if he do it's most likely his head fucking with him. I don't believe in the ghost things.

As far as it goes for the pregnant women.. If I'm not wrong the chemical balance in a pregnant woman changes up, body odour etc. I believe there is a bunch of things we can train ourselves to learn that is out of the ordinary. Like taking note of when a person is pregnant by their body odour. What is a ''sixth sense'' to them, wich is figuring out when a women is pregnant, is simply just that; they've learned to differentiate the smells and/or slight changes in body language. The subconscious picks it up first and translates it to something they can grasp, perhaps a hunch or a strong ''feeling'' that the person is pregnant, mentions it and ''WHOA!! THIS PERSON IS PSYCHIC''. Even that is kinda far out there, but it's a decent theory if what you're saying is real.

anime_boners I've never heard or read anything like that, which is all new to me (your specifc experience) and I'm keen to read more of your experiences.

Have you watched that movie The Poltergeist?

It's funny, I watched Poltergeist as a kid, and it didn't bother me, because I didn't believe in that sort of thing at that age.. a lot of my paranormal gaming experiences occurred in my late teens and early 20s..

When I was 17, my best friend Mike kept a YouTube channel for Let's Plays. He was a fan of old and not-so-well-known games, most of which he played on a pSX emulator on his laptop. The channel wasn't particularly popular; he had about 30 subscribers, most of which were just his friends. I used to watch his videos for a few minutes when I got in from school to raise his views and help him out. He was as entertaining as any game commentator, I guess, but some channels just don't lift off.
We took the same chemistry class and sat next to each other in it every morning at school. One day, he asked me if I had heard of a game called LSD: Dream Emulator. I hadn't. He concluded that if I hadn't heard of it, it was definitely obscure enough for his channel.
He had uploaded some videos of it that night. It was a very peculiar game; the objective seemed to be only to walk around various Japanese environments, colliding with things that transported the player to other environments. Various animals and people glided through the game, usually taking no notice of the player, although there was one NPC known as the Grey Man. He was, as the name would suggest, a grey man, in a hat and coat. He tended to appear without warning, and slide sullenly towards the player. If the player got too close, the screen would flash white and he would disappear. Each time this happened, Mike would gasp, then nervously laugh it off and continue playing.

The gameplay was divided up into days. Each day lasted only a few minutes, after which the player would be taken back to a menu and prompted to start a new dream. Mike played up to Day 12 over the course of a week, and had clearly enjoyed the game, as it was apparent in his videos. He seemed immersed in it, almost captivated by it. However, one night, he posted a bulletin on his YouTube channel stating:

"You know its time to stop when the grey man pops up in your real dream :L what should I play next?"

I wasn't phased by this casual joke, and he told me in chemistry the following morning that he was mainly stopping because he just wanted to play something new to him. I'd have recommended something, but an exam was nearing and I wanted to concentrate on my work. I suggested that he take a short break from YouTube and do the same. He agreed that this was a good idea, and we arranged to meet at his house that evening to revise.

Saddled with several chemistry textbooks, I walked through town that evening to his house. The lights were on, but there was no reply when I knocked. Out of politeness, I waited a minute before I knocked again. This time, it opened instantly. Mike stood in the doorway, his hair wet, looking extremely shaken. Without saying a word, he led me to his room, where various papers and books were spread across his desk. He seemed surprised to see them. After a few minutes of pretending to read while actually curious as to why he was so anxious and jumpy, I finally said "What's wrong?", to which he mumbled some incomprehensible response. My efforts continued until he finally confided in me.

He said that about ten minutes before I arrived, he had fallen asleep in the bath, and had a dream. He said that in the dream, he was drowning under the bathwater, completely paralysed and unable to lift his head for air. The quivering silhouette of the Grey Man towered over the water, watching him. I sympathised that this may have caused a few seconds of distress when he woke up, but could not understand why he was still petrified. I tried to comfort him, but he sensed that I didn't understand, grabbed my shoulders and screamed at me, "It lasted for weeks! Ten minutes I was asleep, I was choking underwater in that dream for weeks and I wouldn't die!"

Mike grew increasingly distant after that. We exchanged no words in our chemistry lessons, and he began to look extremely unwell. His eyes became pink and sunken into his head, surrounded by purple rings. Over a week, his neat writing deteriorated into a careless scrawl, until he stopped writing completely and instead spent the duration of the lessons with his head buried in his hands. Occasionally, he would accidentally fall asleep in this position, and wake up several minutes later shrieking furiously and pounding the table with his fists. After two instances of this, he was removed from the lessons and taken to be educated in private, but after his refusal to sleep made him too tired to be angry, he returned to normal lessons and sat through them, completely motionless. I found new friends, and he existed as a shell of a human being.

It was around this time that a new brand of graffiti began to appear frequently throughout the town on walls and such, resembling a Japanese word or phrase: "バイオレンス街". The placement and colour of the paintings varied greatly. I didn't think much of it at the time; new artistic vandals were always trying to get themselves reputations this way. However, one night, I was walking home from a party with half a bottle of vodka and noticed the moonlight glowing on the fluorescent red of fresh paint, down a thin alley to my left. I walked down it and found a half-finished piece of graffiti above Mike, who was slumped on the ground, weeping, with a can of spray paint rolling away from his hand. I sighed, sat next to him, and offered him a drink of my vodka. He drank a very large amount of it and handed me back the bottle, wheezing. His eyes were closed. I don't think he knew where he was.

"I can't rest."

"What?"

"I go to sleep and wake up in another version of where I was. It's exactly the same except he's there. Torturing me."

"What does that mean, Mike?" I indicated the Japanese symbols above him, but all he did was hang his head lower.

"The pain doesn't stop when I wake up."

Mike didn't speak again for half an hour, and I eventually persuaded him to go home. He stood up and stumbled into the night. I found a completed piece of graffiti on the next street and took a picture of it with my phone, then went home myself.

The next day, I Googled "list of japanese symbols", and matched letters of the Japanese alphabet to the image on my phone in order to get typed symbols I could search for. This took a good while, as the Japanese alphabet is extensive and the symbols all look very similar to me. After I finished finding the symbols, I entered them, "バイオレンス街", into Google. It turned out to be the Japanese name of the "Violence District", a region in the LSD game consisting of dark city streets littered with graffiti and corpses lying on the ground, hanging by the neck from lampposts or headless. I had seen Mike encounter this area many times in his videos.

I woke up in the middle of the night to find Mike standing in the corner of my room, a hood hiding the stone dead face I had grown to associate with him. His laptop was under his arm, and he placed it on my bed, telling me to delete the game, delete the videos and delete the YouTube channel. I asked why he couldn't, and he replied, "I don't want to touch them", before climbing out the window he had entered through. Too bewildered to get back to sleep, I opened his laptop and did what he had said. I deleted all the videos from his documents folder and cancelled his YouTube account, which was signed into automatically.

I then noticed the file "psxfin.exe" on his desktop.

I double-clicked to run up the PlayStation 1 emulator and opened the LSD: Dream Emulator CD image into it. I then loaded his file, which was still at Day 12. Mike was clearly unstable, I had figured. Many people had played the game and been unharmed; I could easily do the same.

I continued where Mike left off, and wandered aimlessly through the dream worlds as he had done. The game was very strange, as I remembered from the videos, perhaps even a little unsettling, but after I shut off the laptop, my state of mind was completely normal. The one thing that had confused me somewhat was that I had played another 6 days of the game and not encountered the Grey Man at all. Regardless, I drifted off to sleep.

I dreamed that night. I was on the brown mountain that I had seen in the game, against a dark green sky with thick fog. Nearby was a poorly-rendered figure facing away from me. It was difficult to tell through the fog and simple graphics, but it appeared to be wearing a green parka and blue jeans, like Mike. I was unable to move, and it slowly glided towards me, though facing away from me. Finally, it turned around, and I saw a still image of Mike's smiling face plastered across the sphere of the figure's head, before I woke up.

Mike wasn't at school the next day, or the day after, or the day after that. I had started my own file of LSD: Dream Emulator, and continuously seen the Grey Man, concluding that there was no issue with that copy of the game, and yet he never appeared on Mike's file. I frequently searched the internet and asked fans of the game why the Grey Man would stop appearing. Each of them insisted that this wouldn't happen, and that at that point in the game, the player should expect to meet the Grey Man at least once per dream.

The police knocked on my door that weekend, asking if I knew anything of Mike's whereabouts, or if I knew what had been troubling him. I calmly replied that we didn't talk much anymore. Putting the whole situation out of mind, I started thinking about my future and concentrating on getting a good chemistry grade.

A couple of weeks later, they found him in the woods a few miles out of town. Forensics concluded that he had bludgeoned himself to death with a rock very soon after the day he went missing.

I dream about him sometimes.

Immaculate I have a weird interest in buying bootleg copies of games, usually at pawn shops and flea markets..

I am not entirely sure I would call my experiences super naatural even, so much as I would chalk it up to fucked up bootlegs.

The one about my friend Mike I would say is more realistically his own mental issues spiraling out of control, moreso than anything occult.
