I've spent very little time in LI, but my buddy who wrote/directed it is born and raised there. from what I know, it's more of a generational meditation than regional; it focuses on the area he knows best, but is meant as a synecdoche for most millenials who find themselves out of college living with their parents with uninspiring jobs.
