It took em 5 days to find the Air France flight off Brazil, and 2 years to find the black box for that flight. The South China Sea is extremely shallow in parts , although the sea off the coast of Malaca is ridiculously deep. Seeing as there was an hours flying pretty much undetected, before entering Vietnamese air space, and a 777 cruises between 500-600 mph, it could be anywhere within a 500-600 mile radius. Do the math.
