I once stood at the top, where I should have stopped,
I let my ego take me away like diddy, biggie, suge, and pac.
Now didn't we know that we could have topped...
Every imaginable record sale before the glocks?
Kicking it back to being kids with a strap,
Flipping a sack of weed for some cigs and a match.
Needing extra money so we dip in the stash
And started cutting coke with baby lax to bigger the batch.
We had cash rolling in so our motives improved,
Slowly started thinking till we focused on two.
Power and fame was enough to motivate a few,
But I wanted to be an idol to every gangster and crew.
Humor hid the desperation like coats of Veneer finishes
Where mirror images turned into mere images.
Put your pride to the test and try to lie to the rest,
But it never really matters in the eyes of the deaf.
I vied to be the best while my family left,
I was on the road crying when I learned of their death.
It drove me insane dealing with the pain of a king,
So I exposed my soul in verses that I could never sing.
Hiphop paid me to deal with the consequences alone
So i left it to the groupies that took over the throne....
or something like that
I let my ego take me away like diddy, biggie, suge, and pac.
