Weak card, UFC brass knew that and put it on Fuel for that very purpose. Also, this was the TUF Brazil finale, to explain why there were very few recognizable names. Now we know how the Brazilians feel when they watch the American TUF finales. In any case, Werdum has submitted the two greatest HWs all time now (granted way past their primes, but still impressive).

There were a lot of nice subs but I wasnt paying much attention to it cuz yeah I didn't know who most of them were lol
But that was dumb af, I've never ever heard of a verbal submission. They might as well call cringing a facial submission then. Smh

Matt Hughes verbally tapped to GSP in their third fight. It's usually when someone isn't physically able to tap out.

not sure if you've ever rolled with high-level grapplers, but think of it like this (keep in mind, I didn't see the actual fight last night, just read the play-by-play). Fighters are trained to keep going for the sub until the ref stops them - there are plenty of examples of fighters who thought the opponent tapped when they didn't, and let go. So in that case, if a fighter is yanking on a limb of yours, and you can feel it start to pop/break, your gut reaction is to relieve some pressure any way you can, often with whatever free arm you have. Now if one arm is trapped in a sub, the other is trying support it so it doesn't break, how else do you tap? Thus, the verbal tapout.

Have you ever done jiujitsu before? If you don't tap, your arm snaps. Tapping = verbal submission. Same thing. Nogueira knows all about that too. Check his last fight with Frank Mir.

Good day.

Did u see the fight?
To me, at least, the armbar didnt look even close to tight AND his other arm was free
