I'm sure you guys tire of my references to Hawaii, but BJ has been one of the biggest inspirations to people here for the last 10 years. nobody from Hawaii really makes it big in anything the way he did, thought this article explained how special he was to MMA well.

same, just had that legendary mystique, probably the most revered fighter amongst his peers.

all that happened this weekend was he was too old.

that's a good one, too, and definitely more comprehensive on his actual style. I'd love to hear from him or his camp about why exactly they chose to go with the poor man's Dominick Cruz style. Even still though, his guard was loose as if to work for subs or (more likely for BJ) sweeps, but he was flat on his back and kept his hips stationary. It was a huge head scratcher for everyone. Flat-footed boxing BJ would have probably at least made it to the final bell.

because he never saw what happened to maia when he decided to abandon his strengths and play directly into his opponent's?

:P

if anything, this makes a bj penn matamoris appearance that much more likely and i am okay with this.

ohh... imagine penn/bravo?
