Maybe this is YOUR perception of people who spend money on sneakers, and sometimes it is true.. but, like anything, there are poseurs and there a true people.

it's called looking out for your families longevity and being self reliant. I buy extra food, water, supplies for my family in the event that something happens we/ they don't have to depend on the government or anyone else for help whenever that comes. I also have invested in a safe environment for them if their/ our current living situation is compromised. From the sounds of it, you've got a long way to go in that department but I assure you it's a great investment.
