View Full Version : NY Times article about my job
I'm part of the problem, but my bank account don't mind. Still trips me out though - kids here literally go to school from 8am-10pm (sometimes later) Monday through Saturday.

Maybe your laid-back attitude and general hippyism can help students relax. In the meantime, you can develop thousands of future Aeros.
You'd think it would, but that work ethic is so ingrained that students don't respond to it. They like me because I'm hairy and goofy though.

Tell those kids to go have some fucking fun because The Fox said so.
Spending that much time in school should be illegal.

yeah none of that is important in the academic climate here lol. it's all about quantity over quality, because schools are privately owned businesses, and competition is so high here that parents fall for it. so if one school advertises that they'll teach your kid 50 vocab words a week, another one will pop up saying 80. Do the kids actually know/remember these words? Not at all, but they cram it through and hope it sticks well enough to pass the TOEFL exam. the article briefly mentions it, but a huge chunk of people have private tutoring after 10pm for a few hours. these are elementary, middle, and high school kids. there's a saying that 4 hours of sleep and you'll pass the test, 5 hours of sleep and you fail.

that's the problem with rote memorization. kids learn more effectively when they're having fun. Teach kids how to become students of life. Have them study economics, have them study joy, philosophy, health, history, economics, cash management, family dynamics, have them learn hobbies. If they are so inclined have them study spirit and practice what they learn. The key is balance, fuck school nigga I'll teach myself
