WRITING CHALLENGE TOURNAMENT WEEK 2 REVIEW.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3QOcoO6iGg

General Writers Review.
(1) TYSON: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(2) Nigma: Braggadocio, technically cool word strings and humorous writing. Nigma wrote a short gem this week, his opponent seemed motivated to upload but it’s a shame could not meet the deadline to make a contest out of it. Awarded 2 points for the no show win.
(3) Innovator: Strong showing and start to the league. Innovator has a good mix of simple, direct language, clean rhymes and can often create a complex/creative topic approach. Was able to defeat Figurative, Innovator is a so-called “bolter” or “dark-horse” - one who can quietly gather points quickly and win eventually. Awarded 2 points for the win.
(4) Adonis: Wrote nicely in an abstract/disjointed style. Had some nice wordplays like that memory banks and the right winger/real worker parts. Only thing didn’t enjoy was the written in cursive line, it’s kind of a cliche turn of phrase, only point of weaker writing in an otherwise well written rhyming submission. Awarded 2 points for the no show win.
(5) NYCSPITZ: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(6) Storyteller: People liked your writing but also disliked certain aspects. They commented about both outstanding lines and sporadic content. The main issue that seems to have cost you in this contest seems to be consistency. That noted, you weren’t so far off from winning either this week. Awarded 1 point.
(7) Objective: In one of the closest contests so far, Objective managed to remain victorious here. Some voters did not like his small usage of the task, but he did fulfill task conditions and that is all that’s necessary. This week Objective wrote in his usual style, he improves a lot. You can expect to see more improvement, but also his current strength is still high enough to be a contender.
(8) Pent uP: Pent uP demonstrates another strong well rounded writing. He has all the tools of good writing and knows how to combine them to great effect. If it was not for that DQ in the AOWL playoff’s he may have won. Who knows. He wrote very well this week, and don’t expect that to be one-off. Awarded 2 points.
(9) oats: Apparently wrote on the wrong task, grade of F minus for not reading instructions. Made a short humorous submission instead. Awarded 2 points for the no show win.
(10) Boredom: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(11) Figurative: Made a good effort, can tell he struggled a bit with the challenge, but still tried his best and made a good writing nonetheless. Just disregarding how he handled the task for a moment, in his short verse Figurative had some strong lines, most notably the second line. Awarded 1 point for the loss, but it shouldn’t feel like one.
(12) Flo Real: Underappreciated writing this week, took a fun approach with the animal-themed writing, Alligators and Aggressive Gorillas, then he changed his picture to a duck. It was good writing but didn’t compare well with the voters to TopicalDood5’s stylistic maturity. Awarded 1 point for the loss.
(13)Coup: Went the opposite direction to his opponent writing quite a lengthy effort, with more sombre content. It worked out in the end with the match being tied at the last moment. Voluntarily signed out, sholom. Awarded 1.5 points. Then signed back in at the last moment. Good job! You can vs Witty who I just noticed signed up in the wrong area.
(14) nO gOod!: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(15) PancakeBrah: A good display of demonstrating the phrase - sometimes less is more. Panckace wrote a concisely with a nostalgic narration while using an image to emphasize it. Awarded 1.5 points for the draw with Coup.
(16) deadman: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(17) MikeWrecka: Started his writing with “Subcutaneous hypodermic needles.” Always risky to start with specific vocabulary like that, but the rest of the writing was more straightforward, a good clear verse on addiction while meeting the task requirements. MikeWrecka performing as usual. Awarded 2 points for the no show win.
(18) Rawn M.D.: Food galore verse that moved all over the place, it was good in its scope but some voters felt it was too much and/or lacking a little in its execution. Either way Rawn showed without any legal troubles he can be a strong force in the league.
(19) Dystopian: Absolutely loved the self-reflective part at the end and the self-aware tone throughout. Thought it was very effective and strong writing, update on his prediction from unknown could do well, to – yes will probably do well. Awarded 2 points for the no show win.
(20) Mr. J: Seems to be the kind of writer on these websites that focuses more on the rhyming part, not that that’s a bad thing, just a different style really. Used a lot of ellipses. It was an overall good submission, the weakest part was probably the ending line. Awarded 2 points for the no show win.
(21) Cereal Killa: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(22) TopicalDood5: Wrote a nice compact technical rhyme verse. It was a good mix of wide vocabulary and less complex content. Awarded 2 points and the first recorded shut-out of the league.
(23) Gazette: Had a very strong sense of scene-setting in his writing. Most of the voters liked his use of language but didn’t enjoy his stylistic choices to bold certain parts etc. Awarded 1 point.
(24) Certain Serpent: A very strong showing in his first outing, people are asking who is the alias. Well who knows, it might not be an alias. Probably not Dagel, Dagel doesn’t write that well. It’s too early to make big predictions after just one contest, but if Certain Serpent keeps these displays up he can win. Awarded 2 points.
(25) Just Write: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
(26) Rayge: No showed, signed out. Awarded 0 points.
New Competitors
(27) Xnub: STRENGTH- Assuming the X is like a Z, Xnub is a good username could mean Snub like to ignore something, or Snub like a gun reference. WEAKNESS- Obsessed with letter X. PREDICTION- Middle ranking.
(28) Split Eight: STRENGTH - Disqualifier of Frank, RG and Pohfig, all in consecutive weeks. WEAKNESS- College dorm parties and mechanical engineering lab reports. PREDICTION- Mixed bag of results, should rank well unless signs out.
(29) Brian Bryan: STRENGTH- Two first names as a homophone. WEAKNESS- Hat picture. PREDICTION- Don’t know, perhaps good, perhaps bad.
(30) VERITAS: STRENGTH- Dr. of the psychological science and behavioral analysis. WEAKNESS- Small furry dogs. PREDICTION- Will be a consistent competitor, style of challenges should suit his creative writing.
(31) Witty: STRENGTH- Good Irishman and professional fox watcher. WEAKNESS- (Guinness? Apologies cannot recall if that is Irish or Scottish heritage). Signed-in in the wrong area indicating absent mindedness. PREDICTION- Witty can win a lot of matches but also can no-show a lot.
(32) Atheist: STRENGTH- Also known as Kuja, Atheist also spelled his name as Athiest. He's a good writer can use many different styles. WEAKNESS- If I recall he lost interest at one point, also managed to slip under the radar with his sign-in comment. My apologies. PREDICTION- Atheist like so many other good writers in this league can struggle to find motivation. His final rankings again depends on his level of participation. Good luck.

Memo week 2.
Greetings competitors, we continue on with a more conceptual challenge. I have noticed an alarming trend on this netcees.com - users calling each other fa***ts, ni***rs, his***ics and ret***s. DIVERSITY WEEK, include the group you are given in your writing. Note, it does not need to be a positive representation, or a support-type verse, just include some reference to the group you were given. Again, the group does not have to necessarily be the focus of your writing, or even be a correct/accurate representation, as a minimum you only need include a reference to the task you were given. You can write about anything you like. Find below your match-ups and specific tasks.

There will be 8 weeks of standard competition, and a special 9nth week tiebreaker week only in the event of tied rankings.
How are rankings and record calculated?
All wins are awarded 2 points. A loss is awarded 1 point. If you “No show” you are awarded 0 points. Tied matches at the end of the voting period are awarded 1.5 points each.

Voting periods will not be extended beyond the deadline, tied outcomes are O.K.
What are the voting regulations?
Standard 3 required votes any less than 3 results in a vote deduction from your contest.
What are the voting guidelines?
Long paragraphs etc are not required, any justification of your vote is sufficient, it can be simple, as long as it is not arbitrary or unexplained. Voting based on your own subjective opinion, basically how much you enjoyed either, there is no requirement for you to vote based on writings compliance to the task unless you feel it was a major issue.
What will get me banished from the tournament?
Plagiarism, double accounts, editing your submission after your opponent has also submitted or voting has commenced, any unnecessary comments creating bias for your contest.
What are the deadlines for writing?
Weekly Magazines containing the Weekly Memo (general theme) will be released, along with the specific pages containing your writing task instructions (specific topics). Then you will have 3 days standard +1 day if required extension period to complete your writing. Voting can begin whenever the contests both have writing submissions, and will stay open for votes until the next Weekly Magazine. The scheduled process will not take more than 7 days.
What should I write?
Whatever you want, the aim of the writing challenge topics is to stimulate not restrict. There are no min or max line limits.
How are contest competitors chosen?
On sign up each competitor will be given a number. Using random.org 2 numbers are paired with each other. Match ups are always randomized rather than based on any system of high-ranking vs high-ranking etc.
What if there is an odd number of competitors for a round?
In the event of an odd number of competitors, the last competitor to sign in will have to compete against Frank’s alternate account. Or it will be a 1v1v1 contest with all standard rules applying,
What are the sign in regulations?
Signing in is open to all for all rounds, 2 required votes for sign in to be effective after week 1 sign ins. If you no-show you are signed-out and must sign-back in to receive a matchup.
No-show repairing?
There will be no no-show repairings, as consideration of your effort if you are no-showed there will be an additional review of your writing in the following magazine.

Closing Weekly Comment.
Great first week to all competitors involved, you can all be pleased with your submissions and complying with voting practices. If you wish to sign in, remember 3 votes. Apologies for the short time delay this week. Hopefully you will enjoy writing for DIVERSITY WEEK, week 3 will return to a more technical challenge similar to week 1. Good luck to all competitors for completing your submissions.
