SPOILER ALERT
True Detective. Whoever recommended it, great stuff thus far. I'm on EP 5 and it hasn't dragged at all.
This past week I caught up on Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, and Hannibal.
Already mentioned my concern over the time jump and it being the last season, but Boardwalk Empire is one of my favorite shows.
Homeland, to me, felt as if the series should have ended with this past season. With Brody gone and his disgraced family not returning for next season, Saul retired (forcefully), and Carrie having a baby and getting stationed in Istanbul..Idk if there is anything else I want to see. Plus the season was slow and didn't pick up until late.
Hannibal had another season to come on slow, but it didn't take long for it to get fantastic. Is it Micheal Pitt? Jimmy from BWE? Casting him as Mason Verger was brilliant. Did he get an Emmy for either of those roles? He should have. Even that movie he did with Sandra Bullock was great.
Other series I watch religiously are The Strain, AHS, The Americans, From Dusk Til Dawn and I've been up on Legends lately.
There are a number of series I need advice on.
After True Detective I have these series I haven't seen yet. Which should I watch first?
The Sopranos
Penny Dreadful
Oz (haven't watched every season)
24
Game Of Thrones
Ray Donovan
House Of Cards
Which series should I start with and list the order by priority if you can.
uh-oh
09-15-2014, 06:28 AM
1. Game of thrones
2. The sopranos
3. House of cards
the rest i havent seen, except for 24. 24 should be last on every list of shows to watch tho, its incredibly terrible and i dont understand how people can watch it. i mean i get it, but its like lord of the rings compared to game of thrones. you know the hero/main characters gonna be aight. he's gonna save the day. every episode. the storylines are cheesy.
its just overall cheesy.
i'm sure if i watched from the beginning and got on the 24 train from day one i would be able to put up with it, but i just caught pieces of episodes here and there and its just corny.
uh-oh

house of cards and the sopranos can be flipped btw, it all depends on what interests you more, they are both solid. the sopranos being finished you might wanna start with that tho, its dope.
house of cards is dope as fuck as well, but is also slow at times
but slow to me just means moving the storyline and getting you invested in plots and characters. but its a good show i dig it.
game of thrones is the best show of all time probably tho.

I've watched the 1st episode of HOC and it was great. I'll get around to it. I'm really looking for intense drama and action. Does Game Of Thrones have alot of action? Vikings is another one of my favorite shows bc I love the character development and the action. How does GOT do this? Steady balance? And I'll probably start with GOT first considering it's what, 4 seasons? If I get that out of the way there will be a long time I can spend just getting into The Sopranos.

game of thrones kind of makes vikings look pretty shitty.
i mean not really as i like vikings too (is it back yet? i dont have cable and forget to check in on stuff)
but yea character development and interaction is at the core of game of thrones. it is also chock full of action. when i read they were gonna have to cut battles from the books and stuff i was like man that sucks.
well turns out they didnt really. at least none of the main ones.
there are large scale battles, like the siege of kings landing for instance which has hundreds of ships, thousands of men, and people being cut in half and there heads smashed in with rocks
there is alot of action basically, and its characters are what make it.
its the best show on tv, but i could be biased because i love the books, and even tho the show differs slightly, its still on par with dopeness

I just rewatched all 5 seasons of Six Feet Under.
Did it in 30 seconds. It was like The Matrix.
Nah, it took me like 2 months.
Prolly my favorite series all-time.
Broke just youtube the viper vs. the mountain fight if you want a snipet of GOT action its the best shit i've seen on a screen. It wont wreck your experience to much watching that either.
literally every show mentioned in here is way better than arrow

Vikings is either February or March 2015. GOT sounds like something I'd really enjoy. Are the books young adult-ish or mature fantasy? I'll definitely be watching it.
uh-oh
09-15-2014, 05:46 PM
mature fantasy
sex, violence, and mayhem. no quests for magical weapons to defeat an evil sorceror.
i like how seyance says too much dragons tho, when there is little to no dragons at all for the vast majority of the show

word its done right as well.
just a short synopsis of the world of game of thrones
its based mostly on westeros which is an island/continent. mostly white people kind of like england
like picture a continent where the north is savage hardy white dudes, and then like normal english white dudes the further south you go, but at the bottom of the continent is DORNE, which is like spain/rome sort of. darker people. hotter climate, differnt standards and shit.
well anyways thats the 7 kingdoms or whatever of westeros. across the narrow sea, is the free cities, which are like ancient greece/egypt/persia
most of the story takes place in westeros but the free cities are a big part as well.
the story follows a ton of people, all of it is somewhat connected tho. like the starks in the north, the lannisters.
its mostly like political scheming, war, just dopeness really.
but word my main point was to say its a world where magic is a thing of legend for the most part. the dragons died a long time ago. with them alot of other "mystical/magical" shit went as well, typical fantasy stuff like wizards and all that its like it all died out sort of. but the dragons are back obviously its not a spoiler if you know about them. but basically they are just coming back
so the characters and the world itself is more medieval than anything, more real than magical, most people dont believe in magic or dragons etc.
so in that sense its not like oh man theres a wizard or a sorceress or any type of magical shit at all. its all slowly coming back with the birth of some dragons
but yea you just gotta watch it, you won't regret it. its way to deep for me to even go into.

I'm 4 episodes into the 1st season and you were right. This show is magnificent so far.
Yeah once you've seen 'A golden crown' episode 5 or 6, your offically hooked.
Episdoe 9 is gonna rip your heart out of your throat though, just warning.

Just finished ep 9 and smh @ Sean Bean always getting killed off. He was doing the best acting job of his career. Makes me wonder if he's due to die anytime soon in Legends or if it's going to be canceled one season in lol. I can't wait for the boy king to get the shit beat out of him. Hopefully it's the youngest Stark daughter to do it.

Yeah I actually like it alot. The blur of reality he goes through with his real life and Legend is an intriguing aspect of the show, not to mention he does a damn good job acting.

Any show on cable tv is garbage
It's the same redundant plots with bland dialogue
Ill hear bout a new show coming out, it'll intrigue me, then I find out it's on cbs or some shit... Imagine boardwalk empire, orange is the new black on a major network

Do you mean any series on network television is garbo? Idk man, Hannibal disproves that.
As for Cable series:
FX: American Horror Story, The Strain, The Americans, Justified, Sons Of Anarchy
AMC: The Walking Dead, Hell On Wheels
SyFy: Helix
History: Vikings
El Rey Network: From Dusk Til Dawn
Showtime: Homeland, Ray Donovan
HBO: Boardwalk Empire, Game Of Thrones
I mean, that's just a few and as you can see the diversity is pretty straightforward.
oh yea
Hannibal should be a premium channel show. i keep forgetting it's on NBC
