But alongside the selected voters, I wanted to incorporate the people with a thread and poll here. The poll will count as one vote for anyone who finishes about 50% after I discount any alias votes.

Accomplishments:
Art of Writing League Season 1 champion
Site-leading three Open Mic Hall of Fame verses

The case for: dead man is widely viewed as the best Open Mic writer on the site, and he is one of the most active writers in that section. But when he has commited to topical writing here, he has been excellent, winning the Season 1 title and finishing as runner-up in The Winter Topical.

The case against: dead man has a habit of not participating in competitions or no-showing too often when he signs in.

The case for: ill nik-A is one of this site's most active and respected battlers, and now he has a major tournament title to go along with all of his other wins. He's completely dominated the Battle Arena on this version of the site. And he participates in everything and doesn't no-show often if ever.

The case against: He doesn't have quite as many overall titles as others, but that's mostly because none of his championships came in keystyle tournaments.

Accomplishments:
Six-time Fight Night champion, including Fight Night of Champions
Champed the Pic Key Grand Prix and BA Slugfest
Champed 1-2 Season 1 and has been the league champion twice
Champed Netcees Battle League
Held Battle Arena Swag & Flow title

The case for: Neighbor is widely seen as elite in swag and flow and keystyle battles, and he's more than held his own in traditional battles. His Open Mic and swag and flow verses offer some of the best rhyme schemes around. He also has lost a number of tournament finals, generally to other top-tier battlers.

The case against: Most of his accomplishments came in keystyle tournaments. And he seems to have all-but disappeared lately and has a bad habit of no-showing.


Vulgar

The case for: Along with being one of our most versatile writers as both a battler and topical writer, Vulgar is one of Netcees' foremost roasters. He also gives great feedback and is one of the most active people in the Open Mic forum. He has won many picture battles and some traditional battles, and he almost never no-shows.

The case against: Vulgar doesn't have a ton of accolades, though part of that is because there haven't been enough available to topical writers.

I remember being in a ba title match ...the survivor tourney...the NBL an a key tourney for some thing hens was doing with deadlines all in the same week...an we were successfully running fight nights like twice a week at the same time.

I've lobbied for Nik in the past, so he's got my vote. he's kind of a bum, but Bags is in the HOF so I guess anyone can get in nowadays (2-0).

I abstain from neighbor due to lack of familiarity. Judging by his list of accomps it seems reasonable for him to get inducted.

Dead man. I have to give him the nod on writing chops alone. Had he not won season 1 of AOWL, it would be a harder argument to make, but as I recall on NC1, winning a tournament or season was pretty much a prerequisite to get considered, which I think is a good standard. So he gets my vote.

which brings us to Vulgar. he's unique because he's more of a multi-faceted nomination, good at everything even though his biggest strength is his topical game. one of the dopest we've got, no doubt, and he's completely original. The only thing holding him back in my mind is that tournament/season win. Should he get one, shoe-in. As of now, I have to respectfully vote no.

At any given point, you have a population of whack noobs who have the spirit & drive to rejuvenate whatever the internet allows them to compete in


Most of the time, with healthy+ thriving leagues and sections, older veterans will only tell you that you have potential if you got talent. And they'll tell everyone else to quit

The medium good dudes will be honest with everyone but encourage you to keep trying

And the shit dudes will be fiercely loyal to one another because SOLIDARITY


that's why you have like, classes or generations of battlers. Only ppl with either the talent or the determination survive



But like the difference between a talented noob and a shit noob is so minimal. You're really just weeding out the stupid dudes who don't realize they have to improve


And with text battling, whack noobs are fucking PAINFUL to read. Almost always 0 bars vs. 0 bars. So way less people are encouraged and way less people make it through. And the only people that stick it out to the end are incredibly dope.


But yeah the only way text will survive is by replenishing it's population, and you're gonna have to either let standards drop, get mad more people, or eventually get totally wiped out and let the whack noobs take over completely

I probably have yeah. I was better back when there were a lot of really top tier guys trying to win things. At the same time I don't think anybody is good now except karaoke and 1 or 2 others.
