im not 100%

i did mcse, and even thats become phased out and replaced

i would suggest after u do the webmedia, go hardware side n start with A+...its fairly easy too

or do vmware/server...and go virtual machine route theres good $$$

you think so?

I was gonna do strictly software dev

unless I just dkwtf u talmbout which could be the case as well

crossposting ass motherfucker, im onto you eddie

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 12:00 PM
well A+ shows u understand both software and hardware and can implement and install sht properly (its more hardware oriented though - like computer components and putting sht together)...and its a recognizable credential

vmware/server shows u can manage data and do server farm/cloud computing/virtual machines (which is what i kinda did at ibm) n u can make big doe bc thats where technology is going

mcse was more network administrator/implementation

it depends what ur looking to do, but any competency/proficiency is good, but certification is better...

Diode
08-08-2013, 12:01 PM
MCSE and A+ have both been useless since the late 90s

GET YOUR CCNA IF YOU WANT TO MAKE MONEY

otherwise get an M.Sci in Comp Sci if you want to dev and be a general misanthrope

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 12:04 PM
A+ aint useless, its just knowledge thats expected tbh

and i said mcse was phased out

but yea I'm gonna look into cisco for sure

and every other program really forever

going for my masters

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 12:28 PM
yeah cisco is a good route

im not to familiar with it tho
i just know its still used, which is good for technology

its mostly routing tho right?

...the Nagger
08-08-2013, 12:34 PM
yea its got something to do with networking equipment

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 12:41 PM
yeah...i got my mcse back in like 02 or something, and then IBM made me get VMWare and Windows Server cert's

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 12:49 PM
how am i wrong tho?

only thing disputed is mcse and i originally stated its fased out

a+ is beginner cert and still is...its more computer repair and building tho

Software Development for the masters

the BS will be in IT

and I don't like my field

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 03:29 PM
word by BS do u mean information systems tech or computer science?

...the Nagger
08-08-2013, 03:33 PM
lol i don't understand the ? really

I'm getting a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology

the Masters is called Master of Science in Software Engineering

they have masters in information systems information assurance and telecommunications

Rawn M.D.

u answered the question without knowing...bravo.
if ur srs and really want a leg up on other comp while going to school
if u can manage sign up at a vocation/tech school and take some cert classes
just some advice, take it as u want.

MMLRLK

python is definitely still in use. if anything its java that's phasing out.

but a basic bg in c and c++ will help you no matter what you end up doing with computers. whether you decide to go the networking route or the information security route or the software dev route or the web dev route or the system architecture route or or or. then, after you put this class behind you and depending on how ambitious you are, you can dive into fun, expressive languages like ruby (my personal bias) or functional languages like haskell and scala.

have fun creating!

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 03:40 PM
word, im not to into code personally...did some c++ and sht a while ago, wasn't for me

i know a dood who just finished learning vrml tho...shts pretty dope

MMLRLK
08-08-2013, 03:51 PM
Haha i dont think youre really ever 'finished' with learning a language, but i get what you mean. & ya, c++ isnt for a lot of people, its a fuckin mess of a language to learn. the good thing is there's 1000's of languages out there, so if you don't like one, maybe you'll like another, it just may not be too useful economical wise lol. i mainly do web dev and some information security. im only in my early 20s tho, so i havent decided where i wanna take my career, but currently its web dev.

when i worked for IBM I did server consolidation and implementation...it was pretty cool...

but yo isn't python like real specific to certain programming and useless in others of something?

I rmbr someone saying something about that to me, when I asked what their book was on bc I was with a bunch of tech ppl and it had a huge picture of a python lol

ya dude server stuff can be a lot of fun. thats dope you worked for ibm; cant be a bad mark on ur resume lol.

& no python can actually be used for quite a lot. often times its used as a scripting language (usually server side scripting, actually!) so maybe that's what ur friend was getting at? but it has tons of libraries that makes it a language that can be used for a whole lot of stuff. thats not to say its not shunned for some projects; some people will swear against it. & you probably wouldnt choose it to build lets say, software for a slot machine lol. the thing about python is that its all about readability of code, therefore its usually introduced to beginning programmers as a way to get a 'feel' for programming.

but ya, u get the gist

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 05:57 PM
Word ya I got friends who are code monkeys just wasn't for me... Generally speaking languages that r foreign to me aren't my strong point... Like I can learn them, just never intrigued me enough personally... But that doesn't go for the next person...

Ya ibm was n is a good look... I have a strong resume tbh, it's just my background hurts me now a days MMLRLK

God Of War
08-08-2013, 06:34 PM
raw you have no idea what your talking about lol

eddie the c++ is going to be massive for yuo if you want a job in that area it is still very much in demand......java takes a good amount of its shit from it aswell

python is a cool language and is sitll used widely esp in animation fields and shit and for a good amount of lead developers but your best bet is c++

God Of War
08-08-2013, 06:36 PM
...the Munster I got a dope tutorial set for c++ if you want to get ajump ahead and work in your spare time also have a dope book for java

if you want to do it professionally your best bet is to do it when your not in class as well as c++ is fucking HUGE and takes forever to get to know even 50 percent of

PancakeBrah
08-08-2013, 06:37 PM
Rawn if you had such a nice job at IBM why did you steal a leaf blower from someone else's garage?

Did you look up from you Medical/Computer Engineering study guide and out of nowhere decide to steal a leaf blower from someone else's garage?

It seems that someone who has SO MANY skills and such a strong resume and such a large compendium of internal knowledge wouldn't need to steal a leaf blower from someone else's garage?

Rawn M.D.
08-08-2013, 06:48 PM
I'm no longer employed by ibm cake cake

resume is strong tho... Truth

PancakeBrah
08-08-2013, 06:53 PM
Oh, ok.

So you stopped working at IBM. You were a little tight for cash, so you stole a leaf blower, and now you're going to be a doctor.

Got it.

rawn you my dude but i thinkt he point of everything is you got to stop acting like a know it all. u ever heard the saying no one likes a know it all

when u post in a thread it isnt a "hey im adding t the thread" its always a "matter of fact" type response

so its always less social and more know it all

thats why cats dig at u so much

i mean theres a few things you got to know ,,,u cant really argue sports with pancake cuz he on point u cant even troll him in that area

cant argue at all with veritas cuz he a smart dude and lures u in by thinking u are bout to troll him(unless its bout his verses)

bags dont take kindly to people bein cia spies who saved the dying unicorn riding a junpier rainbow into a frogs ass

ur a smart dude bro but your constant need to show it seems like your trying to prove it to urself more then us

thanks for the feedback and words of encouragement!

my first class went great last night, and my instructor is a 50 yr redbone who if she lost about 10-15 lbs would be a solid 7-8/10

I'm learnin mad stuff already tho. I took a comp class like 9 years ago so some of this is just a refresher to me but obviously I wouldn't remember much and those programs I studied are outdated

gow if you have ANYTHING that could help I would gladly accept it!

our book we're using is:

we haven't started using languages yet we just did flow charts and pseudos

we're suppose to pick a language to do our final project in. its only 3 of us in the class too lol

but I got to think of a program to build from scratch I have an idea but it seems too simple but my idea is one I was gonna do anyway soon for my sports gambling

I'll send you my email
