1. Ether >>>>. Hit 'Em Up

2. Jay-Z can't be top 5 doa. just too much lyrical biting going on, it's like putting a biter in the txt HOF, u can't do it. Jay says he paying homage but it's just swagger jacking to the infinite power. I love son's music but HOV is basically BIG, Jaz-O, Nas, etc refurbished. whoever is hot atm, that's who Jay tries to sound like

I think Jay Z and Kanye West make just as negative of an impact on Hip Hop as Young Money does.

I think Kendrick Lamar, Tech N9ne and Funk Volume are the top emcees today.

I'm not even that big of a rap fan. Hence my avatar and custom title. I listen to all maybe ten rappers? Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Common, Atmosphere, Outkast, Macklemore, Hopsin, Tech N9ne, Kendrick Lamar, and Aesop Rock. Even then, I listen to one of those guys maybe...MAYBE once a month.

NAS was cool when I was younger, now? No thanks.

Basing an opinion on the fact I've liked one album by both artists and everything after that I felt was bad? Based on the opinion I feel like their "Suit n Tie" esque music pushes other rappers to do the same bullshit? I feel like you are getting too upset and offended by one's opinion. It's a rap forum Mr. King. Don't let people's opinions on music upset you. Especially when it's not directed to you and it's relevant to the thread topic.

of course, dre day was ok but i thought eazy e was better with real muthaphucking g's and etc. I also still think no diss has the impact that hit em up did. that shit started a coastal war and if it didnt it made it alot more fueled. no other diss has really had that type of impact on the industry

Jay-Z biting?? The fuck...

It's not like Hov bit an entire song, spit someone else's lyrics for 16 bars in 3 fucking verses
He's paid homage to a few lines

Lets see anyone else make as many albums, ghostwrite for as many rappers or have such an influence on a culture as Jay and then tell me he's not top 5 doa

The fuck out'a hhheeeeaaaaa!

Using alot of other peoples stuff. That's a fact.

And jays the goat to me.

dull boy
08-12-2013, 03:31 PM
Jay-Z is dope, and he 'bites'. It depends on the intention of the person using the lines. Jay's good enough to not bite, so his using other people's shit comes off as a tribute. Yea, he 'stole' another rapper's style. So what? Everyone is influenced by other people in their craft.

When people scream Jay-Z is a biter, they come off as the type of backpacker kids Nik thinks he's talking about when he lumps them all together. It makes people who like 'nerd rap' (stupid term) look bad, but whatever. Nik and people like him are the other side of the idiot spectrum.

PancakeBrah
08-12-2013, 03:36 PM
Almost all of jays 'bites' are clear homages to anyone who has even an inkling of a perspective of the zeitgeist and reasoning.

DLB
08-12-2013, 03:55 PM
lol you hear another nigga spitting some shit u hear other niggas saying, they are clearly called biters or they get outted for it. Jay keeps doing it, it's not homage after a while. like son can't let Biggie die, he always gotta mention Big then poof, he gon say he better than BIG then say if he ain't better than Big, he the closest etc. son been a walking contradiction

like ya'll stan for son so bad that this nigga can say a whole BIG verse and then u just gon say it's homage. he "paying homage" to cats who wasn't even fucking w/ him, like Nas. son used something from Nas or Nas himself in every album I believe lol Nas ain't even want to be on Jay's tracks(till after the beef), but he was so determined that poof... Dead Presidents arrived w/ a Nas sample. Jay already known for dickriding the highest powers of Hip-Hop but this is pathetic.

& i actually like some of Jay's music tbh. a portion of his discography is classic material but there's a fine line

The youngest boss.
08-12-2013, 04:12 PM
Biggaveli the GOAT, tbh

dull boy
08-12-2013, 05:55 PM
It's just music. Each song is it's own animal for most musicians. Jay isn't a biter. Eminem uses a lot of other people's shit, because he's a student of the game. Anyone thinking Jay is more biter than homage payer is reaching.
