quick political post

While procrastinating on my AOWL verse due in one hour... I made a quick reply to "Brad's" post, (comments on a news website) which said:

Republicans are losing power because their demographic is shrinking. Instead of using good ideas to gain votes, they resort to voter suppression, gerrymandering, and court stacking. Unfortunately for them, the court stacking hasn’t paid off because they’re 0 for 61 trying to litigate the big lie. It’s too bad. The country needs 2 solid political parties. Trump ruined the republicans. Now we have to watch as they all pretend to not have been with Trump as that ship sinks. Their pride won’t allow them To admit their mistake of backing the former President.

PA's (my) response:

I'm 39 and I've been hearing that Republicans are "losing power" since I was 9 and follwing the '92 election.

Demographics will win out, etc, they are a minority, etc.

Fact is, they STILL have PLENTY of power. 49 in the Senate plus a new Independent...

49.5 is plenty for obstruction in the minority, as we have seen for many years..

They just Won the freakin' House. Granted, not by a big margin, but they are in the majority.

6 out of 9 stacked on the SCOTUS... true they couldn't force the Big Lie - it was too big.... but they overturned Roe, gutted EPA pollution regs, gutted Voting Rights Act, expanded Gun rights, and earlier Citizens United (plus other Corporate-friendly rulings)... shall I continue?

Just get your facts right about "losing power". Way too many Dems/ leftists say this, with a sense of optimism about the future perhaps? We shall see... So far the demographic change hasn't helped much.

Fact is, a decent % of Latinos vote R (social conservatives & those who immigrated legally and don't like illegal immigration, etc), MANY married suburban women vote R, Trump even siphoned a few Blacks particularly in 2016 (very low % but still, a bit more than the historical Repub Prez avg I believe)...

If the Dems keep making Every. Single. Issue. about race & gender disparities, or blame every single weather event on climate change, centrists tend to get fed up and might swing R if the candidate is not a complete lunatic.

Just my opinion. -Rant over- discuss.

Thanks for reading Witty & NYC. I won’t read into the one letter response as dismissive condescension. Lol…rather as a simple acknowledgement.
Politics here are quite nuts Witty, as they have been for a while. @Destroyer any thoughts? You still around Des?

@boof
This is 4+ months old, before Trump's felony charges.

if you're around, wouldn't mind a hard leftie's opinion of my middle-of the road thread of criticizing both sides
